Tyrant, you should complete the Campaign LASO without firing a single shot. (Classic Difficulty)

Places where it's absolutely required to fire a shot (Such as the MAC Cannon on The Pillar of Autumn) do not count.

I honestly have no desire to do that...

What's wrong? Not up to the challenge?

The same reason I won't take on Halo 2 on Legendary with all skulls activated. There comes a point where it goes from being challenging to tedious and no fun. You know why I don't participate in grind challenges? Not because they're challenging. Because I don't enjoy them. I could care less about credits, and I don't want my gaming experience to feel like a second job. That's how I feel about this "classic difficulty". Why do it if I won't enjoy it?

Good point, I guess. Maybe you could figure out the enemy spawns and other helpful things, similarly to how campaign pros did things in Halo CE?
He already has.

New Alexandria Mythic in 12:18 (Film)

It may be sub 12, I'm not sure. RC, could you time it for me?

RC Master had a speed running tactic to get past all of them, but in the future:

Have banshee, will travel.

EDIT: Tyrant, do we need a "pre-guide conqueror" bolding of our names like we have in the Halo 3 Mythic thread?

I looked at his film, but it just shows him running inside the building. Then it looks likes some type of glitch with the video or game but after turning off the jammer, he's back the opposite way and all of a sudden he's outside. Is that the way the glitch works or is there something wrong with the video?

Very impressive Dark. Maybe I'll try to do a speedrun of NA, if I've got the time.

Looking back, I'm surprised about how much trust there was when we were playing. I don't know the extent of Tyrant's relationship with MAT, but I only got into Mythic because there was a chance to get recon armor and Leumas is a (relative) newcomer and conqueror. You trusted us not to call the elevator down and leave you up there with the drones; you trusted us not to pull a Leeroy; you trusted us not to bail out of the falcon and fall to our deaths at the last second.

And you just know us through the internet. Wow! :)

I'm not going to lie, towards the end of that mission I kept getting really paranoid that I was somehow going to accidentally bail out of the side of the falcon.

Don't be. It's easier than the previous two missions.

I can tell you that this week's LASO has nearly topped LNOS LASO during the outerspace ship flying mission. I have the 7 ranger elites waiting for me at the 2nd floor ramp leading to the 3rd floor. Because it's such a confined area and there are so many of them, it's really hard to isolate one and take out his shields before 2 or 3 take his place.

I know some have mentioned using the Banshee trick, but it wouldn't have worked for me anyways since the hospital was my third mission. Almost considering skipping or restarting. I'm going to try to jet-pack up the middle to see if I can make it past all of them.

We're on track to have 3, maybe 4 missions beaten by the end of this week; WC, Nightfall, NA & either Package or TotS.

OMG TRAITOR

Well, I'm with Tyrant. That is...if he still wants me to fill the empty spaces on his team.

Beat Winter Contingency last night.
Will have Nightfall & New Alexandria done tonight (assuming everyone gets online at the right time).

I was kind of uncomfortable with it at first because I didn't know how you or Leumas would handle co-op. Luckily it turned out well, so I have no complaints.

He who fights with monsters should take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abbyss, the abbyss gazes also into you.

That's the problem I'm having. I really don't get why the ranger elites decided to just kick back on the stairway instead of moving into the area where the jammer is. I can't go up the stairs without getting railed by plasma rifle fire and I can't pick them off since they're all ganged up so tightly. Also tempted to restart but it's a pain in the ass just getting through to the hospital jammer again, nevermind re-doing the whole level.

"Wake me . . . when the darkness fades . . ."

This might even be common knowlage by now, but I wanted to share a little trick I did on Exodus to make things a little easier at the elevator room when the drop ships swoop in.

Before hitting the button to call the elevator, I dropped back down to the lower level where you entered the area.

There were a bunch of crates lying around, so I took my time and bashed them over to the opening and blocked off the entrance similar to how The Tyrant did in a couple of his Mythic runs. As long as you hit the larger ones along the top edge they rolled over fairly easily into place.

Then after that area was secure I ran back and called the elevator, waited for the dropships to drop off the reinforcements.

The top group charged right in as expected. The lower group . . . They were just chilling

As long as I didn't apporach them, they stayed put and didn't do anything. They even left the lone civillian alone too.

So, after taking care of the first group I stepped back out onto the upper deck. Sighted in . . .
and took them out fron a distance.

I took the Brutes out with the remaining sniper ammo I had and the Skirmishes were picked off with the DMR. I only had to take out all but 1 of the second group before the elevator became available.

So there you have it, for what its worth.

I just found it made taking on that room much easier to deal with not having to watch over 2 hammer captains.

  • 05.03.2011 9:45 AM PDT

Had this happen too. After I hit the jammer & no Rangers came I was STOKED, only to find all 7 of them pounding me from the second floor. I got through it by first using a plasma pistol, DMR and camo. Walk to the bottom of the ramp to the second floor but hug the wall on the right so you have cover. Pop some shots off with the PP to lure all the Elites over. I stuck one who evaded off the ramp onto my floor, then another two were pushed off by their buddies onto my floor. I'd engage camo, wait for the others to leave then PP + DMR. I ran out of PP ammo and the repeater is useless, so I went back to the jammer & grabbed a jetpack. Go back & take a right at the stairs so you're walking under the ramp, then jetpack up away from the ramp to the 2nd floor. Do the same on the 3rd floor and you're home free. I found the remaining 4 Elites were too spread out to do any serious damage and there are tons of health packs on the walls.

I definitely appreciate the advice. Looks like I'll be starting all over. I was originally told to try and jump onto the ledge with the AA crate, but that resulted in me getting blasted to kingdom come. So now I have to restart the entire mission. It seems many are forgetting that if the hospital is the last mission, you have to fight your way out. If you try to use the banshee on the way out in that scenario, you might as well restart the mission.

Whenever I first did this mission on mythic I had the same problem, the explanation I received was that if you back track too much during the mission they will stay in the lobby area. I never could get them to be in the jammer room. I basically ended up just hiding at the bottom of a ramp and PPed them one at a time. It was tedious and kind of difficult at times because it was such an awkward angle and there were so many of them. I believe I probably snuck around with cammo a bit too to make my way up the ramp, shoot them and then go back down.

  • 05.03.2011 10:28 AM PDT

I recall hearing / reading that there were no elites in new Alexandria... Now I've played though before but when in laso you notice a lot more...

For instance I noticed a squad of 6 or so elites with jetpacks.... Kicking my ass over and over...

I saw a guide for coop where they just ran past that part before the elites could attack.... For the he'll of it, can I get a banshee in there?

It's not common knowledge and thank you for the contribution! Tyrant and I tried that just for kicks on a 2-man run a couple weeks back, but we didn't finish the mission and didn't feel it was necessary to report on it until we had it in a successful run. I'm thinking I may try an extension of this and block off the upper entrance as well so we can just pick off enemies from behind the crates. I'll let you all know how it goes.

  • 05.03.2011 12:58 PM PDT

So if I understand this correctly, if you try the banshee trick on New Alexandria, and the hospital is the final mission, you can take a banshee to the bottom and to the jammer, but you shouldn't get back in and continue to just finish the stage like normal? This is my second run through and I really don't want to go through the entire stage again. Also, does anybody know any tips on making sure the rangers don't group up in the stairwell.
