Twenty-ninth Halo 3 Mythic Conqueror
Eleventh Halo 3: ODST Mythic Conqueror
Fifth Halo: Reach Mythic Conqueror

Just finished the challenge.

I now remember why I hate that level so much. The landing pad has a crazy randomness factor. On one of my attempts, the fuel rod chieftan charged me along with the hammer chieftan.

I'm starting to lean more towards the notion the mass driver is pure chance. I'm also starting to think hologram at that part doesn't make that much of a difference.

But I do think that if you hop into the mass driver with full shields and health, more times than not you'll beat the level; this is assuming that the only fire you take is phantom fire.

EDIT: RC, I just watched your POA speedrun while listening to "Bat out of Hell." It seemed really fitting.

I also noticed that you managed to get both mass driver shots off without losing your shields? Is it because of your hologram?

I guess we'll never know, but it did seem like the phantoms took a while before shooting at you.

V: I can assure you I mean you no harm.
Evey Hammond: Who are you?
V: Who? Who is but the form following the function of what and what I am is a man in a mask.
Evey Hammond: Well I can see that.
V: Of course you can. I'm not questioning your powers of observation; I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is.
Alas, so many quotes, so little room in the signature box.

Anyone want to help me do the run co-op? I've done all but one of the previous laso weekly challenges. I'll only be able to do it on a weekday. I guess shoot me a personal message if you want to and we can figure out what time/day to do it.

I tried RC Master's way of dealing with the last Elites but I can't get them to stand still like he does. I only had one PP with half a clip and all 4 Elites left. Almost quit but for some reason went back and watched Tyrant's guide and he found a way to SKIP 3 of the Elites and just deal with the General. Did it first try and now all the LASO weekly's have been conquered.

Thanks for the guides Tyrant!

RC, what would you say is easier: doing that concussion rifle jump or fighting all three waves like nature intended? I was watching your videos and they look risky as hell. With the Famine Skull, you pretty much only get one try. You also got to the top with only one bar of health remaining.

RC makes that jump look like the most simple of things, but I tried, and tried, and tried and not once did I make it. I even tried using the bubble shield method to no avail.

In my opinion, I had a much easier time doing battle with all the enemies on the platform. That jump is just so damn frustrating.

Halo Reach - Make a prequel to the fight.
Halo CE - Begin the fight.
Halo 2 - Continue the fight.
Halo 3 - Finish the fight.
Halo 4 - Start a new fight.

Hey guys, I am struggling with this challenge, and am wondering if you can give me advise.

I am at the end of PoA. The remaining enemies are the 2 dual-wielding Zealots and a single wield Zealot. The FM is dead (thank god) and I have a checkpoint at the Mass Driver. I am currently there with a full DMR and a PP with about 25% charge, and no shields. I can't finish the level because the elites or phantoms will kill me even though I have a drop shield. I have tried to pepper the elites shields down, but the bastards won't stand still. The only health packs left are in the shed like room under the driver, and every time I go in there, an elite follows me and melees me.

If you have any advise, please let me know.

PS. RC, can you explain how to grenade jump to the driver? I watched your speed run, but I cannot replicate it.

PPS. There was a rare occation where the Zealot with one PR stood still while I shot him one bolt at a time. I doubt it will occur again. I want to break my controller.

EDIT: nm. I finished it. Whittled down 2 of them, assassinated the last one. Feels good to get it done. Took forever and made me hate that level so very much, and it was my favorite.

Despawns are not so bad. Don't stockpile plasma pistols; instead just grab one and juggle it back to your safe area. Ammo isn't really a problem for me on the landing pad anymore. What is a problem, is randomness, the fuel rod chieftan and the fuel rod grunt. And oddly, enough, the plasma launcher chieftan. I tempted to learn how to successfully do the mass driver jump.

I'm still impressed how during his speed run, RC grabbed a single Famine-ridden concussion rifle, used it to jump and then used it again to push the chieftain off the edge.

RC, how long did it take you to perfect that jump?

I'm curious, what is the percentage of people that actually complete the 'LASO' challenges? If a bungie employee can include this in a Q & A in the future that would be awesome. I would guess 1% or 2% of the community but I'd like to be surprised with more than that.

Your mom is a classy lady.

Dear God, why am I even considering going for this?

Well, if anybody is looking to party up at some point this week and complete this weeks challenge shoot me a PM.

I've never done a mission on LASO (never found a party willing to seriously try) but I've completed the game on legendary and would request that anybody attempting have at least done the same.

I'm available pretty much any night this week. And I'm on Pacific time, so staying up late with an east coaster isn't a problem. Let me know, I'd love to give it a whirl.

I blew it. I was up to the big fight, had a flawless run, and then i thought i'd save myself the hassle, and skip the first wave and jump straight up to the Mass Driver. Sure enough, i ran out of ammo, had to jump down, and then got killed by the FRG chieftan in the next wave. LAME.

Tomorrow is my day though. Maybe. I'll make sure to make the jump after the first wave.

I had a run last week for a daily challenge where I jumped up to the mass driver immediately. Realized my error and conserved the NR like crazy. Took EXACTLY every shot in the NR plus my remaining plasma grenade and concussion rounds to eliminate ever enemy on the ground to trigger the second and third waves of phantoms. Only enemies I had to engage on the ground were the hammer chieftain (assassinated him as I dropped from on high) and the fuel rod chieftain (who miraculously knew I was behind him and blasted me mid-air).

If I had pulled it off as a successful run I would have probably -blam!- myself, and I very nearly managed it. Trick is to ONLY shoot when you're SURE you will get a headshot (for jackals and grunts) or that you will be able to follow up with two shots on brutes. On brute captains aim for the head and you might save a shot or two.

That said, you shouldn't try it. It's much safer to eliminate the first wave before the jump and bring as much ammo as possible up top with you.

Too lazy to pm, but I've also completed this game on legendary the first week it was out, I'm looking for a full part of four. My GT is High Horizon, shoot me a message on live, and to anyone else who's interested in joining.

Also, please be prepared to have a Mic, teamwork is key in this mission.

Your mom is a classy lady.

Following the guide it's surprisingly not too difficult. I got stuck a few times at the room with the molten metal vats, but have managed to get to the final area with the second wave of brutes before saving and quitting last night.

I should be able to finish the run tonight. Can't wait to take on the hammer chieftan without a plasma pistol....

Fight it out. More effort than its worth if you just want to complete it.

Lmao. :)

I also noticed that you managed to get both mass driver shots off without losing your shields? Is it because of your hologram?Partially that, and partially luck. Even if it only makes a small amount of difference, considering its usually on a knife edge, any positive difference is a difference you should take IMO.

What you saw in the speed run? Thats the best its ever gone.

I only had one PP with half a clip and all 4 Elites left.
Um, how? There should be another couple of PPs from the Grunts that spawn inside the warehouse which you get after you've killed the first Dual-weider.

Also, after taking out the first guy, go for the Field Marshall next; I only did it the way I did to save on traveling time. From there (behind the fence) you might be able to take out another one of the Elites too.

RC, how long did it take you to perfect that jump?

Probably a couple of hours all told including variations with shields and different grenades and stuff.

My mantra when it come to mythic is practice practice practice. Then I see these people just going straight there, fresh into the mission and act all surprised that they can't do it.

You think this took one try? You're kidding yourself.

@ madpanther94
What you see is what you get. Get right up against the wall, crouch, throw grenade to trap it under foot, jump and concussion blast in time with the grenade and then fire very slightly towards the wall for two blasts.

Theres no big secret; just practice to get the timing and angles down.

Yeah, I second this!

Bet the first 2 have the least... Blind is a killer. I know I was intimidated but got through wc, then the very beginning of ONI even with blind off was hella hard at first...

I wonder if those who will have completed all laso challenges will be in the triple or double digits...

Anyone else getting disconnected from your party in the middle of this laso?
Me and a buddy tried like 7 times but kept getting disconnected. It would say the other one had left... Then because neither of us are mythic masters we there will be a death... So we started over and it happened again, and again.... And no I'm not going to do the save and quit crap.

Got a sweet assassination on a duel wielding elite, can't wait to try again!

The key to dealing with actually trying to kill the final Zealots is to stand exactly where RC Master stands, when he stands on the steps. I stood a little bit forward on the stairs to "goad" the elites to come towards me. That way you had a better chance of them getting hung up or being exposed for a lot longer time while I peppered them. The only thing is that I could never kill the original ground dual wielding elite. I got him pushed up but he would only hide way back as far back as you could from the attack stairs. So I never had any way to get him. He wound up being the only Elite I left alive throughout that part of the game. I would just leave the last guy alone, if you can't get him but you don't have to kill any of them if you don't want to.

As a side note, if you're getting ready to shoot the MAC cannon, right after you kill the Fuel Rod Zealot, run back and re-charge your health. You're almost guaranteed to survive all the dropships shooting you if you have full shields and full health. Plenty of health in the ammo room (the one outside where you fought the brutes). If you try the mac cannon health packs, one of the Zealots may come running down and ruin your day.

Gonna have to third this statement. It would be very interesting to see.

Anyways, PoA wasn't all that bad. Had to redo it because I obviously screwed up somewhere and the hunters spawned but the second run-through went much smoother. Three wave fight at the MAC cannon wasn't terrible either.

Anyways, thanks to Tyrant and RC and for the wonderful guides. Greatly appreciate it. Made these challenges slightly easier lol.

I'm sure there will be the statistics in the next BWU, or perhaps the one after the challenge finishes.

Thanks for the offers of a team up, but amazingly I completed it solo.

Sure, I exploited save and quit like a mo fo. But I hardly feel bad about it, it's a stupidly insane challenge.

There comes a time in every mans life... and that time is not now.

Got up to the mass driver segment, but i used up all my healthpacks early and had about half health and no shields for the actual shooting part. I could only ever get one shot off, and not even charge the second one.

I might need some luck for this one. Luck i don't have.

Halo 3 Mythic Conqueror #11
ODST Mythic Conqueror #2
Reach Mythic Conqueror #2
Halo: CEA Mythic Conqueror #1
Halo 4 Mythic Conqueror #1

So when doing the weekly with my friend B5Dredbulltsff, he notified me of a little trick that eliminates doing the grenade skip at the Boneyard wall, and instead just allows you to jump on top of the nearby debris and jump across no problem.

Look ma, no grenades!
Look ma, no grenades! (3rd person)

I loaded up Rally Point Alpha to save time for it. They're currently rendering but it's been taking quite a while. Maybe they're suffering from the same thing that plagued Michael_Archer's vid a while back. Hopefully it'll fix itself soon.

I actually have a slightly different method, RC. I stand on the railing at about the second or third step, throw the grenade in the corner (same placement as when you crouch and throw it) then jump off the railing toward the wall above it. Once it explodes I then fire THREE rounds from the concussion rifle at the wall to land on the pipe and still have plenty of health and/or shields left to do one or two concussion round(s) to jump up to the mass driver, even while taking fire from the enemies in the area.
