It has been done, ladies and gents :-)

Looks like it's a race between AuraSoldier313 and Legendary Smile for first conqueror now. This is intense.

This is terrifying.

It is indeed. And what's more entertaining is that they can now work off each others tactics for the remaining missions!

However, AuraSoldier313 has actually gotten to the end of PoA twice now, I believe, so he's slightly more ahead.

Yeah, twice would be correct. I can get to the pad almost every run but sometimes the hammer chief gets lucky. As for the final group of enemies, I've more or less got planned what I'm going to do.

Legendary might have a hard time with LNoS, I don't know. Regardless, spending roughly 30 mins to get to the corvette only to die straight away from the rangers gets real annoying, real fast.

Subject: *Mythic Difficulty* -NOW CONQUERED- for Halo: Reach (ALL SKULLS ON!!!)

Halo 3 (31st), ODST (14th) and Reach (4th) Mythic Conqueror. (Mythic is Solo, Legendary, All skulls on + scoring on and no deaths/saves).

Staff Writer and speedrun record holder at highspeedhalo.net

Ignorance is the true enemy of all things.

Rocking Bungie.net for over 8 years!

Since we're closing in on the first conquerorship becoming a reality, I'll mention again that I believe we should require full films to be posted for conquerorship status.

Halo Reach is still susceptiable to the save and quit exploit (which will allow you to resume from a checkpoint and still get 'completed x mission' on the stats. Many enemies can be skipped or killed by proxy, so just looking at number of enemies killed isn't sufficient. Additionally, looking at the time spent in game isn't any good either since time paused is still counted. One could save and quit and resume and then pause it for an hour to make it look like a reasonable time to complete the whole level.

Anyway, I tried PoA again yesterday with 11 skulls, and its actually looking easier every day. I did it in 1 hour 15 with only a handful of deaths. There are plenty of things you can skip on this level. I also did the final brute wave and the room with the Zealots and Field Marshall and the MAC gun section first try!

I've got a few more videos I want to post/create first, and then I'll talk/show about how I deal with this section.

I've got a sort of 'starter pack' for LNoS in the form of this video. It shows how you can quite easily skip up the left side of the area, destroy the wraith so it won't bother you, then wait for Noble Team to catch up taking pot-shots at enemies from behind a gate. Its fairly easy to do, and pretty quick, so I thought I'd post it so you guys don't waste your time trying to figure out a strategy yourselves.

Race you there. :)

Also, I can't seem to assassinate the ultra immediately after Jorge says something about how he can't believe that some guy said yes to this mission despite the fact that assassination was glorified in the Reach campaign trailer. I can assassinate him quite easily if I get in a melee dual with him, but that guy HAS killed me once and I don't want that to happen again.

And it kind of sucks that the cutscenes are unskippable. Yeah, I know they're pretty and impressive, but I thought the Apollo 13 liftoff sequence from the movie was pretty and impressive but I don't want to see that every twenty minutes.

And that's quite a long cut scene too.

I uploaded my PoA run. Between 1h00-1h30 I was a bit of a chicken (you can skip that part). I really hate that chieftain.

But at the moment I hate the rangers on LNoS more. I have found some tricks on LNoS to make it easier, but most of the time I'm being killed by the Rangers :`(

I'm doing well so far, thanks for asking.

I can clear the comms room and the hangar no problem now; to me those are the two hardest encounters in the corvette.

First time I finished the hangar, I got killed by the other ultra after killing his partner right after you clear the hangar. After clearing the hangar a second time (keep in mind, this is the next time I got the corvette) I got killed by the second ultra in the cannon room after sucessfully melee dancing with his buddy.

If I extrapolate this, I should finish the level after the next seven tries.

I'm SO going complete this level before you do, jew man man. LOL.

For now, I'm going over to my mom's place. I hope to beat the level when I get back to mine. Happy Thanksgiving everyone :)

EDIT: legendary simile, it took you two hours?! POA is officially harder than LNOS.

Steam

(can't quote I'm on iPod.) but if you want to beat me, practice the bridge assassinations, it can go wrong very quickly and ruin your run. Trust me.

As I said in my previous post I could easily cut of 30 minutes, but I had some bad memories with the chieftain :)

I tried that too. It is indeed risky but when it works it makes it a lot easier.

I practiced it, I killed the Grunt and the first patrolling Elite and the Elite behind him and all of the Elites turned on me.. any idea why?

  • 10.09.2010 2:07 PM PDT

The exact same thing happend to me today wilst I was doing some research on the spawns of the covies. I think I walked in his line of sight.

  • 10.09.2010 2:18 PM PDT

I'm sitting rather contently at 6/9 and working on PoA. Why? Because it's fun. I ended up killing too many enemies at the second half of the Boneyard area, which in turn caused enemies to kind of retreat inside. So, I ended up having to kill everything there. Well, I killed the Grunts by myself, at least. I had to use Emile to kill the 3 Elites watching over the exit. Emile wouldn't go down to fight them, instead he would stay one floor above them, firing his shotgun. I'm watching from the armory area and what I ended up having to do was using grenades to knock Emile off and down by the Elites.

So after that, I finally get to go forward and advance, only to get trapped by the 3 Elites. One of them rushed Emile so I went down the stairs and was going to go back up to get a kill...then I see him look over at me, because apparently he had lost sight of Emile. So he chases me down there and gets caught on the stairs. My other exits, coincidentally, were blocked by a Plasma Repeater Elite and one with a Concussion Rifle. And so I got gunned down. Oh well. At least now I know that there aren't anywhere near as many enemies in the second part of Boneyard as I thought.

I think the General heard a row and he yelled, "the Yanks were coming!"

Bad reference...I'll stop. Yeah, but the general is a variable. He'll look at the globe for a bit, then he'll go clear his mind and look out the window.

But if there's two grunts standing in front of the globe, you're pretty much screwed.

I applaud your persistence. Emile is the worst ally in my opinion; he only serves as a distraction. At least Kat and Carter can make headshots. Granted, I'd rather go through the level with him than without him. On the same note, I'm having a weird amount of fun trying to beat LNOS.

  • 10.09.2010 3:17 PM PDT

Emile, ironically considering his weapon, is the worst in close quarters. He's very slow when it comes to turning, and when he does melee, he usually does it too late, like immediately after an Elite hops to the side. It's sad when even a Grunt can circle around him shooting.

I got screwed over by the small area that is considered a back attack on a dual-wielding Ultra. I'm thinking I might just make a run for it once I think I've gotten them stuck on stairways. Not only can they get stuck going up and down them, they also can get stuck under them.

I know what you mean. So many times I've witnessed Emile just pathetically take a swing even when the elite's behind him. He's only good as a meatshield to me anyway, whether it's distracting the hunters or the camo elite with the sword after them.

I've yet to figure out what you do to get elites stuck, but I think I've stumbled upon it before. They beserk and just run at you under the stairs not doing anything, something like that? I prefer to make sure they're dead though myself doing my own little thing that stops them from moving so I just take out their shields one at a time.

Also, if you happen to take out the concussion elite first, and then either one of the other two, try messing around with the concussion rifle. It has both humourous and helpful results if you use it right.

Edit: Also, why does it seem that so few people utilise night vision? It's like a slightly dumbed down version of visr from ODST but it still works in the same way. Highlighting enemies makes it that much easier to kill them when the natural atmosphere of the game makes it hard to see them ie the drones in PoA.

I actually use it all the time, so much that I somewhat regret it because I don't get to see the beautiful landscape.

Anyway, I'm struggling a bit at the AA gun on ONI: Sword Base. Any suggestions as to handle that area?
