Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Tyrant I sent you a message and RC this is for you as well if he is unable to help, but I have finished the MYTHIC challenge thanks to the BOTH of you. I have Winter, ONI, Nightfall, and Exodus on my file share. I also have Package, NA, Pillar, Long Night, AND 7 minutes with 2 kills of Lone Wolf ready for viewing whenever you 2 have seen my first. My internet is horrible so I finished some like Pillar online but the others were done offline. Nevertheless, there is proof. They are sloppy but hey, this is my first run through it. Times will hopefully improve. Add me to the list. Am I the first inheritor to do this?

Awesome!

Welcome to the challenge! It's always great to see someone taking the challenge, and even MORE exciting to see someone finish it. The conquerors will take the time to validate your films at some point this week, and assuming everything checks out, it'll be fantastic to have a multiple of 7 on the Conqueror's List for Halo Reach :-)

Congratulations on completing a Halo campaign on Mythic Difficulty!

My internet is horrible so I finished some like Pillar online but the others were done offline.

This is going to be the sticking point... Unfortunately, a film isn't enough to verify that it was a true mythic run, there has to be online stats for the game connected to it for us to see beyond a shadow of a doubt that all skulls were active; the film just shows us that you did the whole level from the start (which online stats does not show). Either one can prove that there are zero deaths.

Unfortunately, without having total proof, there are those who would refuse to add you to the list. As much as I hate to say it, I am one of those. We have online scoring as a requirement for Mythic, so without that I don't think we can add you to the list.

You're not the first to be barred on a technicality, and believe me I've had my share of frustrations as I lost connection 5 minutes from the final cutscene on a few missions before... If it makes you feel better, I BELIEVE you did it, I just don't think we'll be able to credit you with more than an honorable mention. :/

EDIT: I can't download the films as I have no connection to LIVE (still haven't gotten my account back from Microsoft...) but looking at the stats I can verify everything except that you started from the beginning for 4 of your films. The other two, New Alexandria and Exodus, there are no online stats for, so they cannot be verified, so it's not like you'll have to redo all of the campaign to get on the list at least, just those two so far.

Halo Reach Mythic Conqueror

I had this discussion earlier this summer with Tyrant and Sanghelioz. At the time, I was constantly lagging out due to me stealing my neighbors internet and using a network bridge to connect. Since I was constantly lagging out of matchmaking or pretty much anything I decided to give Halo 3 mythic a try. I asked them if a video were enough to prove I had completed a mission because I knew there was no way I would maintain connection for the length of the missions on that game. Their ultimate verdict was no it would not count. The reason being that there is no definitive way to prove what difficulty you started on and what skulls you have exactly turned on.

I don't know why someone would do this, but in theory they could put it on Heroic and only put on some skulls and it would look pretty much the same as mythic. I had toyed with the idea of using my phone to physically record my TV showing the difficulty + all the skulls on and then the first few minutes of gameplay. It would be very difficult to reproduce the opening movements 100% on video so I think this could be a viable option but I haven't really asked anyone in the community if it was acceptable.

You should set up some security on your WiFi. If you need help, I have the software to remote into your computer and set it up for you if you'd like.

It's not his WiFi, it's his neighbors. His neighbors no longer have an unsecured network, however. :P

Haha, thanks but yea as sang says below, I was doing the stealing(I am only here for the summer so I didn't bother getting internet). And for the record, I think they moved out because the network is not even listed anymore.

Leumas, you should download a program called InSSIDer. That thing'll show you just about every home network around your area, often ones you didn't know existed. If you need to steal someones net to stay on live i'd recommend checking out the neighborhood with that.

Typically you'd have around 5-6 networks showing up depending on signal through the windows/mac network manager, but with InSSIDer I found around 15 after leaving it running for an hour or so.

Oh and Mythic.

Thats interesting, I'll have to look into it. I know there is actually a pizza place nearby that the signal shows up very weakly sometimes but I can't really connect to it and do anything, does this thing help with weak signals or does it just show you ones that are stong but aren't showing up for some reason...and of course this whole conversation is really about me getting to be able to play mythic again, so its relevant.

InSSIDer's more like a deep-scan sonar if that makes sense. You'll be able to see the signal strengths, channels, encryption types people are using on the routers, whether they're using a, b, g or n, and some other stuff that's not that necessary for the average user.

Unfortunately it doesn't actually help you improve your connection to others, you've still got to do that yourself. It's mainly for looking at what's in your neighborhood and gives you the means of identifying what you can do to improve your connection.

In the very end though, if InSSIDer can pickup a unprotected network but your built in network manager can't, there's not much you can do. Blame MS/Apple for poor internal antennas in their products.

InSSIDer for Windows and I'd assume Mac.
InSSIDer for Linux.

I'd download it and give it a try just to see what you can find.

Halo Reach 2/3rds of the way mythic conqueror (6/9)

The major problem with New Alexandria is the constant swarms of banshees. On the secondary objectives I can't even get close to it without 4 banshees coming after me.

As for the hospital skip it doesn't seem to teleport me just spawn all the normal enimies in the hospital

Trying flying as high as you can, the banshees usually leave you alone, then whenever you get to an objective drop down quickly

Thanks for this.

EDIT:I getting into a long night of solace mood... yes it is the hardest level but I much of the missions is repeatable tactics and predictable AI. I just might do long night first.

Agreed. If you max out your altitude and keep moving with the jets in the back of the Falcon burning, it's like the Banshees aren't even there. Like he says, just drop or do a hard glide to the objective once you're there.

Personally, I thought New Alex was pretty easy. The enemies for all three jammers can be skipped entirely ever since the hospital skip was discovered. The side missions and ONI HQ are the only places you can encounter real danger. Beyond that, it's just getting the objectives in the right order and hoping one of the side missions doesn't turn out to be the engineeres and Elites (though, as many have pointed out, it can be completed, but it's by far the most difficult).

If you just don't dilly-dally and keep on full-burn then banshees shouldn't be much of an issue at ANY altitude. In fact, I tend to fly low and weave through buildings, just 'cuz it looks cool on film. xD

Life is all about conquering goals, be them easy or near impossible. Completing Mythic is just another thing you can add to your list of video game accomplishments. It feels good.

On a side note somewhat to do with Mythic, but not exactly with Reach, I dont know if you guys have seen, but they announced the pre-order specials for Anniversary. One of the specials is an exclusive skull called the Grunt Funeral. I know I myself will want to continue playing with all skulls come Anniversary, but it makes me question how widespread the desire will be if only those who preordered the game will be able to truly play with All Skulls On.

It shoudln't be requireed as peOple who don't have can't do mythic and it might make the game aesier

Well, I have my gamertag back, but unfortunately I've had to create a completely new Bungie.net account to link it to... So General Khazard is no longer an active account. Also, I've lost my friends list, so please send me a friend request again. On the bright side, my gamertag now matches my Bungie.net name.

That said, I still believe Grunt Funeral should not be required for Mythic as it will only be available to those who preordered the game. What's more, I think it should be PROHIBITED from Mythic, because it would make the game easier. One headshot in a group of grunts means several plasma grenades' worth of destruction, which could be enough to decimate entire groups of enemies.
