I've heard that on Halo 2, that if you have too many skulls on, the game will stop giving you checkpoints to compensate for the memory usage.
At least Halo 2 has the plasma pistol and Black Eye overshields! I believe you can melee allies as well. 99% Of Cairo Station would be meleeing Johnson.IIRC, checkpoint shortages do occur.
The plasma pistol requires 2 overcharges. While Black Eye is actually beneficial (as you can see by the Metropolis single segment run), Mythic is not. Dual wielding plasma pistols is useful when the enemy has not noticed you. I used it at the bomb room battle (obviously, I got there by modding, as I was testing) on the first Elite, but after that, I had difficulty landing it on the other Elites without dying. I once managed to get 1 of the Needler Elites, which prompted the remaining Elites to come to my position. I've found plasma rifles to be more effective, especially when you can see just a leg or arm sticking out. If they can't see you, they won't move, so you get an easy kill.
Actually, Ghost makes it difficult to move Johnson around. You have to setup strategic blockades to move him. It takes around 2-3 hours to move him to the first hangar.
Single segmented Cairo Station with no deaths is a killer... but I'm pretty sure Monopoli will find a way to beat it. All I know is that you can't skip the hangar battle.
