How would Halo 2 Mythic work, exactly?

You can only collect and activate certain skulls on particular missions.

Wouldn't Halo 2 Mythic only be possible if you tried completing the game on Legendary, finding the skulls along the way, and then FINALLY reloading the game back to Cairo Station all in ONE sitting?

Unless there's a different way of course ...

It's possible to create new profiles for each Skull in Halo 2 and in each profile you can load up checkpoints right before the Skull. So whenever you turn on your Xbox to do Mythic you must film yourself picking them up, then loading the mission you want to do and finish it, without dying. This means you cannot edit the video (cut and stuff). I think that people can still be skeptical as hell if you complete it and upload uncut films, so I find it hard to be able to prove that you have done a mission let alone the Campaign, I guess you have to trust them if it's truly uncut and all that stuff.

Someone else might have more to say about Halo 2 Mythic.

I have a different profile for each skull. Each of them has a checkpoint right before the skull. What I do is, start each one and get them one by one. Which still takes like 15-20 min because off IWHBYD, then I proceed to play through the level.

Over at jumprs.org we have a VERY trustworthy group of people. Also, I may eventually get around to uploading a video of me getting the skulls and then playing through the levels, but what you have to remember is that it will almost certainly be edited. Not in a cheating way, but to prevent it from being 2 hours long.

Like a said, getting the skulls takes about 20 min, so I would speed that up. Then, I begin to play through the levels. This does not mean that I get them first try, therefore, the average time of my single segment recordings is about 3 hours from picking up the first skull to finishing a level. Because of this, I may put together a nifty little intro of sorts that is speed up, but shows that all skulls are on.

EDIT: @AWX, that is what we have been talking about lol. Feel free to let me know what you think about each level that I have done so far.

I just checked out the Outskirts run.

One thing I forgot about Halo 2 SLASO was that you could melee your shields back to an over shield.

Epic.

Pretty solid runs. I trust them, too.

I don't think I would have any problems with sped up clips of getting the Skulls, just that there might be one or two guys who won't believe you if they manage to see the video skip one frame. :P

Quite frankly I dont care about other's skepticism. Most of the time, it is pretty obvious whether or not the 'hard' skulls are on.

More power to you then. It just sucks if suddenly you would have everyone think it's fake, not that that would happen, but imagine a big, big amount of close minded people saying it's fake.

I consider it to be the hardest. First all enemies are invisible. Second they all have massive health upgrades. Another difference is that there is not a skull menu. You must manualy find and activate all skulls

Do you have a particular preference for what order you pick up the skulls in? When I tried nearly two years ago for SEASO, it took me around a week of set up for all the profiles but only around an hour for the actual collecting phase. I did Envy and IWHBYD first to knock them out of the way and left blind till last if I remember correctly. Everything inbetween was sort of up in the air tbh.

Also, I think it's about time I make an account over on jumprs and get to know the community if I want to try my hand at H2 SLASO one day. Need a bloody PVR or similar device first though before I try to do H2. That'll set me back a bit.

I get them in order, except for blind, which I get last. My checkpoints that I have made are very good though. I used a trick in which you can move the skull without triggering it effects to get checkpoints while in very close proximity to them.

I can't imagine how this would be if you were forced not to skip anything. Halo 3 was doable without skipping but Halo 2?

Sunday at 10 am EST. Like Gazas said, we have more or less a set team, but if I've learned anything from these quad-mythic runs it's that you can always count on at least one planned person not showing up, so be online! We've missed you Leumas!

Actually you can reenter the gun if the turret is off. I don't know if it becomes impossible to reenter after a certain time, but in my mythic run I reentered many times due to the exact elites you refer to. They eventually stopped moving, so I had to exit the gun and reanimate them.

Yeah I don't know what it is but for some people, it becomes impossible to get in the Pelican gun after getting out for some reason.

The cannon room and comms room have the elites that for some reason space out run across the room and it takes forever. With the cannon room more so because they always seem to go to the other side.

If you want that view changed, play it methodically rather than like a speedrun. It's why I don't have a problem with Halo 2's Mythic difficulty is because I can find strategies for actually beating the enemies rather than just skipping past them (although skipping past them is preferable). Of course, it's probably 2% possible to complete a Halo 2 level on SLASO without dying and without a lot of skipping.

I consider it the most entertaining and nourishing.

The enemies are invisible, but they don't start off that way, their active camouflage isn't very tough so shooting them reveals them, NPCs are good at distracting, especially invincible NPCs, and they can still be manipulated by sound so you (hiding in cover) can get them close and then they will turn around idle and then you can assassinate them.

The massive health upgrade didn't improve their senses though. If a part of their body is sticking out, shoot them and they won't retaliate.

But you're right about the skull menu. I don't have Halo 2 for Xbox, but I sure wouldn't want to go through retrieving the skulls over again and again.
