Oh the pain! As close as you can get to finishing POA (and my mythic campaign) - died in the mass driver at the end. Can't believe it. You guys aren't wrong calling it a coin toss - after my death I saved/quit and loaded it up again, did exactly the same thing and finished it alive (both next-to-if-not-full health, 2 elites left who didn't hit me running to the gun, and holo set out just before hopping in). Crud. Crud crud.
That's gotta suck man! I never load up the game again if I die, just makes me angry if I manage to complete it, unless I need the practice. How do you deal with the Elites?

Got the first one from the doorway prior to making them retreat up to the second level.

I thought about trying to get the other remaining normal ones using the stairs for cover, but thankfully I didn't bother because I ended up going through pretty much all of the plasma pistols on the FRG/Sword guy. Whenever I'd get his shield down, or almost, he'd take cover where I couldn't get a shot at him. Felt like ages trying to get that bugger.

After he was down I went back out to grab the hologram, then did the usual rafter stuff to jump straight up to the gun. Instead of using the drop shield on the last little bit of rafter-hopping for safety, I just ran the holo off in their direction and continued up to the gun. For the end I just lobbed off a couple grenades towards them (with the intention to distract them... dunno if that actually gets their attention instead though) as I started running up the stairs and then let off the hologram up next to the gun.

On a slightly unrelated note: I don't suppose there are any techniques for consistent box-launching? I imagine not? While stuffing about at the landing pad the other day I got some really nice launches all the way up to the gun from the bottom. Some all the way up there, a couple even onto the top of the gun, and a bunch more onto the pipes that you concussion onto. However, with lots and lots of duds in between each of them, despite having a checkpoint with the box in the spot ready-to-go. I couldn't figure out if there was any 'good' or 'best' way to do it?

The Mythic Threads (Halo 3) (ODST) (Reach)

So, you leave some Elites alone before heading to the big gun? And how exactly do you handle the Field Marshal?

I don't know how anyone did it, personally I used RC's film and copied him. I took out the first Elite, then the other two by using the stairs for cover, then I got behind some kind of fence where the Field Marshal can't hurt me and killed him easily.

So I was strolling around on HaloCharts.com, and I came across my profile trying to look at my global rank, and I scrolled down and saw my old Mythic medals from Halo 3... It got me thinking...

I think we should contact HC and get them to bring back medals for Mythic Reach. Perhaps for ODST as well.

Fun before Victory.

I'm probably going to leave two of the Zealots alive when I come to do POA because I intend to man the gun, like I did on the LASO challenge, and someone theorised that the Phantoms were holding fire for a short while because those Zealots were behind me. Also, luck is almost never on my side in these runs and it's the top Phantom and Banshees that are the biggest threats when manning the gun IMO, so I'd rather man the gun and leve my fate in my hands with the gun than trust a force that loathes and despises me.

Not in the least. I'll reach out to HC and see what I can do.

Hi, my name is Stolen_Zombie! My morning routine is to bomb the ocean, eat a house, drink salt water, and kill a zombie. Many people consider me a jack ass because I eat corn flakes, I tell those people to go have sex with a kangaroo. After my morning routine, I rage over beating LNoS on mythic so I can get one step closer to mythic reach completion. I should mention that's after school. My diet is shotgun shells and paper airplanes, nice to meet you!

I just gotta do new alexandria (grrr) and exodus and I'm up to everybody's favorite missions

that's a great idea. Someone should also suggest that on the 343 forums. That would be awesome, and at least give the less motivated members of the community (which sometimes includes me) a reason to try.

I'd love to see some sort of integrated Mythic achievement at some point down the road :-)

Exactly. I'm not claiming to have beaten mythic (i've never saved any of the films, and I still lack the package, lnos, and one other that i cant remember at the moment) but an actual achievement would definitely push me to complete the whole series.

Mythic achievements? If 343 wants to alienate their fanbase, like Capcom did with Dead Rising's "7 Day Survivor" achievement and Ubisoft did with Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter's "World Champion" achievement, then they should go for it.

I would like them, but I think the majority wouldn't.

Hmmm, I'm not really familiar with any of those. But what's wrong with an achievement actually being a challenge? It would be better than the came to hear me beg ach. which was just glitchy and annoying.

Because honestly, people like complaining. This will be a reason to complain, 'its too hard', 'I can't do it' etc.

lol. They already do that with the Monument achievement. It's something for the campaigners out there who don't like the harsh environment generated by XBL.

well of course they'll complain, someone always complains, whether it's too easy, too hard, doesnt matter they'll find something to complain about.

But what was the actual fallout from the above mentioned achievements? Because a mythic achievement sounds like a great idea to me, and it goes along with the tradition of halo taking strides to appeal to all cross sections of it's community.

If it was a 0g achievement, then I can see them putting it in. But if it had value, high value at that, then it's likely people would complain excessively.

Perhaps it could be part of a series like the Vidmasters. No points, but might ultimately unlock something?

Seems like a potentially good idea. Also, for kicks, should make it a secret achievement.

Try to stick to higher altitudes, and do NOT stop to engage any of them. Boost as fast as you can, and you should be fine. Generally, the only time I get pwned by Banshee's is when I'm facing an objective that requires me to be in a Hornet, but can take awhile to complete for one reason or another.

I'd very much so like this idea. The VidMasters of the Marathon days were the greatest campaign players Marathon had to offer. There were very few. The VidMasters of H3 and ODST weren't very tough, and a large amount of the population has them. I'd love for them to truly bring back a VidMaster achievement in it's true esteemed glory.

EDIT: Grrr... I was just about to make a post about how for once, Tyrant and I have Mythic titles at the same time, but what do you know? I just got mine taken away... it was there this morning, and now its gone again...

If there's a mission starring buck, I might as well restart, I always die during one, I'm going to try when I get to the oni building to not leave the third objective until some time is passed so the shades are all there, I've been there before the shades spawned/got dropped off, and they aim for me
Also, everybody complains about the door crushing the banshee, that's only happened to me once, and its because I forgot to boost

I tend to stay away from Buck's Falcon until he stops and needs me closer to continue. His Falcon can hold it's own quite well.

Halo 3 Mythic Conqueror #11
ODST Mythic Conqueror #2
Reach Mythic Conqueror #2
Halo: CEA Mythic Conqueror #1
Halo 4 Mythic Conqueror #1

If there were going to be Mythic related achievements, they'd be labelled as LASO instead. When people think Mythic most still think legendary + mythic skull, a decent portion go with LASO, and the rest is our small community who knows Mythic comes with the no saves & deaths, scoring and film requirements.

Though I do like the thought of a level on Mythic/LASO as a vidmaster. Halo 4 perhaps?

Also, anyone else sorta anxiously awaiting the Anniversary achievement list to be leaked and/or revealed? I'm thinking 10 level complete achievements, the standard 3 for campaign complete on the higher difficulties, a decent few level specific ones and the rest can be anything really.

YESSSSS
GO DIE BANSHEES
Anyways, rage aside, I could not have gotten luckier about the second side objective (there was a shade but oh well).
Fun fact, you don't have to engage a THING at sinoviet center, you can hide behind your falcon, and go in the elevator, not engage the drones and when you come back out, everything is magically gone :D
I let that cutscene run at the end because its a wonderful cutscene (anyone who has watched it knows why) :)
