Subject: *Mythic Difficulty* -NOW CONQUERED- for Halo: Reach (ALL SKULLS ON!!!)

That was an exact repeat of what happened to Gazas on the Storm. I Plasma Pistol the Brute Chieftain with the Hammer. I'm unloading my DMR and his helmet falls off. He makes a leap and I dodge. I zoom in and wait for him to turn, ready to fire. He turns...

Click. Click click. No ammo.

I improvised. Two Frags was all it took, luckily...that was a hell of a bad time for me to run out of ammo. Now I need to deal with the FRG Chieftain. Problem is, he's on top of the building in which the DMR crate comes out. It looks like I may have to use the Exodus solution, provided I can get close enough.

Heres my latest and I think my best run through of Tip of the Spear on Mythic. and stats. I timed the actual game time to be 30:16.

Now, community; I ask you, whose Tip of the Spear guide was better? My tactics got me through faster... and that video shows the ending cutscene.

Well I was going for ease rather than speed. Though its still not a slow run by any means. I do a number of things specifically because it makes your passage easier or ensures extra safety. In my original run of this level, I took the right side of the Falcon also.

I wasted all my [...] DMR ammo trying to dent an Elite's shield (I didn't even see a blue glow when I did this).
Tilt makes DMRing a shielded enemy entirely pointless unless they're about to break already.

I wish I had a frag grenade so I could damage myself and grab a health pack. On the plus side, I found a DMR crate and the spare Needle Rifles left by the Jackals should resupply the ammo I used up against the Hunters (it was full when I got to the 3 Elites. I had to use a little after I ran out of DMR ammo)

Is this the area with the camo sword elite right after the hunters? Use a PP overcharge to damage yourself, there should be a few about.

Two words: melee fight

You can avoid every hit from the chief if you do it right.

I am officially scared of Zealot Elites.

Major C.B.

I beat Winter Contingency... Except the Sword Zealot, the last enemy I had left, jumped out at me. I popped a Plasma Pistol at him when he charged me. Did it again as he got closer. Third shot, he's almost on me, and I miss. I frantically take out my DMR, seeing that his shields are very close to popping. I squeeze a few shots off, and he slashes at me right as his shields pop. Bang bang, shot dead, but not before killing me. All I had to do was turn around, sprint a few yards, jumping off the railing, let Jorge contend with him, circle back around up the stairs, and provide supporting fire from behind. I decided to be daring instead, and it cost me the almost-completed mission. Stupid me.

Alright, finally had time to load up some Mythic, Nightfall is completed. Big whoop, easy as crap level.

I almost lost it right at the end when the elite on the bridge spotted me, but I ran away, sniped some grunts, he got out of my way, and snuck through on the forklift. The try that got me through the door was the last try I was gonna get. They were shooting at me and my shields had popped the time before. I figured I was -blam!-, but apparently not.

Excellent!

Don't fee bad. That's actually the mission's choke point, and it isn't too difficult to get back there. You'll probably have it conquered either the next try or the following :-)

Died with only the Plasma Launcher Chieftain left. He's one alert S.O.B. I couldn't get within 10 feet of him without him noticing me. He eventually killed me with the rather extensive radius of a Plasma Grenade. Not as disappointed as I would have been given how long he and I were running around.

Didn't realize that the Plasma Pistol overcharge EMP effect would do health damage if you're caught in the AoE. Good to know; it's certainly safer than using a Frag Grenade...although I'm rather fond of doing that now, but I prefer my first love for that: the Concussion Rifle.

Edit: My film was nearly 3 hours. Lol. Looks like I may be better off making a run through the Boneyard building rather than watch Emile try to kill 3 Elites. And skipping the Hunters.

Wonderful. Got about halfway through Winter Contingency, was doing pretty well, had just rescued the troopers, but during the fight, the falcon pilot got killed by something or another. Now I'm sitting in a Falcon with Carter and Jorge, with no pilot, unable to do anything at all, with Jun talking about how he's going to drive, but he isn't.

Any chance that I don't have to restart, or am I -blam!-.

I have no motivation to try this anymore tonight D:

2 down, 7 to go.

Personally, I think Winter Contingency was easier than Nightfall. Sure, you can skip every fight on Nightfall, but if you get unlucky, the snipers can -blam!- you up really fast. Winter Contingency has no such problems.

ONI next.

close enough

what's the difference between driving mass and accelerating it?

  • 10.10.2010 7:08 PM PDT

They follow the same general principles, but are produced for different purposes. The Mass Driver you use at the end of the game is not actually designed to be a weapon, but is effective as a makeshift MAC gun.

Semantics, but it bothers me.

I can't find AuraSoldier's guide on skipping the hunters in POA. Surely, this is an excellent strategy and has garnered a lot of attention but I can't seem to find it.

Also, while I'm at it, GOD DAMNED LNOS BRIDGE ARGGGGHHH...

So who was the first to complete Mythic Difficulty?

If they haven't go it already, I may give them the Elite officer code...

No one. However, every level has been beaten on Mythic, just not by the same person.

Apparently there is a way according to Vincent. This is why it is no doubt an excellent strategy.

I know I will never attempt to complete the entire game on Mythic, but maybe I'll try one or two levels.
