Halo Reach 2/3rds of the way mythic conqueror (6/9)

One thing I just cannot do on solace is the cannon room. I have a hard time getting elites shields down through the hole because of bad aiming and elites running away to other side of the room and forgetting about me. Can't pop out because of concusiion rifle elite present

practice assassinating them all, it really is the best way to go about it.

Have you seen this video? Other than that, just try to be quicker/ more aggressive with the enemies in the hanger so they don't disturb the Elites in cannon control. I don't like having to use that back corner either and haven't for the most part in recent times.

Been playing a lot of Viva Piñata recently. Good game, although the piñata controlling is a bit buggy.

How is this relevant? The Grunt Birthday Party Skull sound--one of the essential items needed for any Mythic or LASO run--comes from Viva Piñata. Piñatas make the same sound when broken as grunts do when headshotted (headshot? what's the past tense?). True story.

Did Viva Pinata come out before H3? That was the first time I heard the grunt "cheer".

Honestly the advice they're giving is the best. The first time I attempted to beat LNoS, I had only watched Tyrant's video. And I was acting super careful and the elite alerted the ones on the bridge. AFTER I listened to Tyrant's video commentation, he suggested to try and kill both of the elites before they alerted the ones on the bridge. Sure enough it worked and I was at least able to assassinate the one with the cannon and make easy work of the last one left. Quite frankly though, if you can make it through the outer space battle without dying, the corvette part of the game is the easiest part of that entire stage.

I disagree with that last bit. The Corvette is definitely the most difficult part of LNoS. For one thing, there's not much opportunity to skip things, and for another your nerves are always going to be more frazzled towards the end of a mission. The beach is easily skipped, and in space you can basically hide behind Anchor 9/Savannah and pick off strays if you're having trouble (though I always tend to stick it out in an all-out dogfight in the open).

Also, the soundbyte used for the grunt birthday party cheer is pretty generic, it's been around longer than either of those two games.

True Snaghelioz but the corvette is also straight forward with not much varibility in tactics and with not to much randomness.

As for the cannon room if they are alerted just make sure I can aim properly through the hole and not shoot the panel.

Yep, that's my point. The corvette is straightforward. I know what I'm up against and can strategize against my next obstacle. The outer space battle, I can never tell from what direction I'm going to get hit from.

I have two responses:

1) That's what she said.
2) All of them, the trick is to master evasive maneuvers and situational/spacial awareness.

Got 10:36 on Tip of the Spear. Personal best.

Ugh, I hate that Tyrant 1 is so cheap and boring to kill. There is nothing you can do to improve that without extreme danger.

Tyrant 2 is also crap because the Wraiths are so stupid and throw themselves off the cliff half the time, limiting what you can do to an utter coin toss.

EDIT: Damnit. I almost beat Dark's time again. This time I couldn't seem to assassinate the Sword Elite and he just turned around and slashed me.

What luck RC. By the way good luck on that one shot challege for mythic you are the only person who would be insane enough to try something like that.

Phew.

Well, after some awful luck on TotS, I switched things up and tried New Alexandria instead: got a new record! Seems that the game was sucking out all my luck in preparation for when I returned to this level! No Buck at all: YAY!

Time is sometime under 11 minutes. Totally lucked out and managed to get the objectives that I just randomly started flying towards. Awesome.

Now I'm in a good mood :D

I now realize that the speedruns that you guys post are 90% luck; you're as good as any other conquerors--you just have a lot more patience. If a strategy that shaves twenty minutes off a level works only one percent of the time, a normal conqueror will find a safer, but not as fast strategy; a speedrunner will play the level one hundred times--the end result is a incredibly impressive video and ninety-nine other videos we never see. I don't have the patience for that (I barely had it for regular Mythic), but my hat goes off to people who do.

Viva Piñata came out in 2006--almost a year before Halo 3. OMG BUNGIE TOOK PIÑATA SOUND. It's nice to see the games I play bleed into one another sometimes.

#1 Legendary ODST Firefight Highscore

[UNINTELLIGIBLE > INSUBORDINATION(?)]

Can you guys give me some motivation to start the Package? It just doesn't seem like that fun of a level.

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Best Regards,
The Tyrant

Personally, it's my favorite mission :-) Think about it, you get to drive a tank, you've got the world burning around you, and you get to close everything off with your back to the wall along with the surviving Spartans as wave after wave of Covenant pound your location in a large, cavernous ice field.

Yes, that was a long sentence.

Thats an improvement of 1:26 from Dark's run and 2:13 from my old personal best.

Well, I'd certainly like to think my extra experience has made me slightly better than at least some of the other conquerors at Mythic :)

At the same time, when you're just completing Mythic theres only one run anyone will ever see, and dozens of failed runs besides. ;)

Well that's because you keep practicing. If anyone was willing to put in that much time and effort into Mythic like you did I reckon they or anyone else for that matter could constantly give you a run for your money.

Your inherit experience is not from Mythic alone though; you've been a speedrunner for ages. That there has given you that on-the-fly ability to react way better than some of the other players out there.

Regardless, gratz on the new run.

Achronos: And what's this about a "design team" I've been hearing? Apparently stosh is so awesome he's now considered a "team".

Well Halo 2 has been conquered by Mr Monopoli.

Yes. Segmented. Keep in mind that SLASO (as impressive as it is) still isn't Mythic.
