Fun before Victory.

Hmm...the Needle Rifle users got slaughtered...but the Plasma users lived because the covenant were more interested in the NR holders than the Plasma holders running past them. The Hammer Chieftan got a lucky stick on me (WHILE I WAS GETTING IN THE GUN! <_<) but had that not happened, I'm sure I'd have got to the ending part again.

I'm about as slightly above average as you can get.

Hmm, just saw NoWise's video on mongoose launching. could possibly shed a few seconds on PoA run?

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? I think you quad-mythicers should find a stategy that consistantly works. If you find one that works all the time use it every time.

That sounds easier than it is. I can't tell you how many times we thought we crossed every "i" and dotted every "t" only to have a random factor bork the entire run. The comms room is a classic example. Sure, in theory the rocket/sword strategy is a great one, and to date, it's been the most reliable, but unfortunately, the AI don't always behave the way you want them too.

For example, a Ranger distracted by one of the players at the top sets himself up for a perfect assassination, and once you sneak around and reach striking distance, the ADD wears off and he suddenly wheels around and dropkicks you in the face. Other times it's a random grenade. Space? Don't even get me started. When seven Seraphs suddenly decide to ignore your teammates and go straight for you, there's little that they or flipping can do.

These random factors are a strength for Halo and a weakness for Mythic. My guides are simply that. Guides. They're there to help point you in the right direction. They can't do it for you. That's why that list at the top of the thread isn't longer. Well, that and people are too nervous to try primarily due to lack of payout scaling with the challenge.

I can honestly say that every week my teammates do their very best, and win or lose, I'm always honored to play with them :-)

In addition, because we have different people every week, and those people have variable skill and experience with Mythic, no strategy is ever going to be "most" reliable. For example, our plan for the Anchor 9 space battle has been the same every week, but had to change this past Sunday because two of our players weren't strong/confident enough in space vehicular combat. Because they essentially had to hide behind Anchor 9 for the fight, there was a lot more focused seraph fire on myself and Tyrant and we had to find a safer strategy for that section.

Hi, my name is Stolen_Zombie! My morning routine is to bomb the ocean, eat a house, drink salt water, and kill a zombie. Many people consider me a jack ass because I eat corn flakes, I tell those people to go have sex with a kangaroo. After my morning routine, I rage over beating LNoS on mythic so I can get one step closer to mythic reach completion. I should mention that's after school. My diet is shotgun shells and paper airplanes, nice to meet you!

The random factor is a huge problem for one person
Can you imagine it for four?

Plus, there's the fact that we're trying to bring along members of other parts of the community for these runs to promote our own community and to help dispel the myth that Mythic conquerors are no-lifers that seclude themselves from other players.

The only reason those people have any voice is that we give it to them. We ascribe value to their bad-mouthing of our values. Their voices against our greatness is only potent because our greatness is what is giving them potency; it's a contraction that they're making.

Ayn Rand called this phenomenon, "the sanction of the victim".

Ayn Rand is highly overrated... Regardless, promoting the Mythic community is a worthwhile effort. Part of promotion is to dispel negative prejudgements. Whether we "ascribe value" to what those people say or not doesn't matter. Our target audience is going to hear it either way, and without an attempt to counter it, that message could very well turn away prospective members.

Halo Reach 2/3rds of the way mythic conqueror (6/9)

Wow Legendary ONI speedrun was perfect Then at farragut outpost, when I first arrived at 3:00 an elite sprinted out and killed me. Another example of stupid randomness.

EDIT: No mythic and won't check in for the next few days, I am camping in Fallen Leaf Lake in the Sierra Nevada this weekend.

It's no different than becoming adjusted to Legendary. Once you're used to the gameplay, it comes naturally.

EDIT: In regards to that trick jump in PoA in the Wraith area... would throwing a grenade into the mix give me more air lift and make success of the jump more guaranteed?

Fun before Victory.

I personally fight the Wraith area after despawning the Wraith and the Brutes. Find it much safer to do so(Though it is much slower), and it gives me access to the 5 Needle Rifles in the area.

LIES. Mythic is difficult no matter what. Mythic is incredibly frustrating and Reach more so. Legendary is fun, since you can laugh at every death since you'll just go back to the last checkpoint. Plus, the plasma pistol is more effective on Legendary.

That's how you draw the kids into this, right Tyrant? You offer them candy (e.g. "It's not that hard" or "Play Mythic for Recon armor!") and then let them get raped by the covenant. I'm on to you. :P

Have fun with Quad-Mythic; I'll be busy watching the new episode of ponies.

In regards to that trick jump in PoA in the Wraith area... would throwing a grenade into the mix give me more air lift and make success of the jump more guaranteed?

You mean RC's trick from the ledge to roof? I'm still finding it hard to believe you can't get it successfully most of the time.

Sprint > jump > hold crouch > as soon as you're over the steel beam thing let go of crouch and the control stick.

I can get it 9 times out of 10 no problem. Maybe you just need to practice on a lower setting to avoid dying if you fall off.

Grenade wise, you're likely to propel yourself right onto the roof, but it'd have to be well timed and with full shields, otherwise you'll gain too much height and just fall short or kill yourself instead.

Yeah...I'm going to have to agree with Aura on this one.

I think this is as much as a "trick" as is Leumas' jump for the wraith area: sprint and jump and stop sprint halfway through; nine times out of ten, you'll make it...and you call this a "trick jump".

Of course, this raises an important philosophical Halo question: by what measure are some jumps "trick" jumps and some are just regular jumps? By what objective standard?

It's questions like these that I lose sleep over. Lol

Anything that includes doing more than just pressing A.

I consider a trick jump anything quite skillful that takes a few hours or more to get down perfectly.

You ever wonder why we're here?

lol on a more serious note, It's tough for me, because I've never gotten the timing down for pulling back. Yes, I can do it, and I've done it many times... just not on a full run :(

I consider trick jumps to be anything more than just pressing JUMP, crouch jumps included. It's more along the lines that I find some trick jumps more complex than others... like this one.
