I can make it to the bridge on LNoS, but then everything hits the fan.
I attempted assassinating the crew, but the Elite who walks past the Grunt staring at the Reach projection knew I was there before I took his buddy on the workstation out.
Am I doing something wrong?

Did you make the animated assassination? They make a lot of noise. The normal assassination won't alert the others. Or maybe a misplaced grunt noticed you.

You will break things before the 2nd level is even complete.

The only thing I broke on the first two levels were faces :)

I've actually found a few useful things for ONI Sword Base that I have yet to see anyone else try.

However, I'm guessing that by now people HAVE found the bit inside the base that allows you to prevent the General and other enemies from spawning. Am I right to assume?

So what do you mean when you say, "missed your opportunity?"

I had a perfect opportunity to make a run for the already broken windows (I made sure to break them before Emile even got the Hunters attention and started a fight). Follow that opportunity, Emile got stuck somewhere and the Hunters were both standing in the path I needed to go through. As my holograms showed me, making it passed them without taking damage had become impossible.

Back to the Hunters on my first run of the morning with a lot less effort. The three Elites are all chumps now...I'm thinking the Hunters might not be so tough anymore, either.

As for Mythic being a "waste of time" because it has no achievements...well, that's a bit like the pot calling the kettle black. What's the point in having a high gamerscore? Does it do anything for you in the real world? No, and neither does completing Mythic.

But if you have fun getting achievements or high ranks and what not, that's fine. We have fun playing the Campaign in the most difficult way possible that does not force us to put some limitation on what we do. It's all about whatever floats your particular nautical vessel.

Recon

Problem im having on ONI is just being unlucky. For example, shot by a pelican. I also actually have a video of it taking 21 mins to kill 2 hunters with a gauss.

Yup i've found it and as far as I know RC master found it and probably others too

So again, the Assault Rifle on the Hunters worked. As long as you blow the armor on their back off with the Needle Rifle explosions, sending Holograms to get their back turned, hitting them with bursts from the Assault Rifle prompts them to guard themselves...except they're guarding while facing the wrong direction. While guarding they don't seem to want to turn much, so you get a good deal of time to be able to unload a mag.

I have noticed though, as was shown to me during the fight, that a Hunter near death can get very aggressive. I was chased after 3 times by the same Hunter and had to use Holograms to slow him down.

Edit: Ugh. Both the FRG Chieftain and the Hammer Chieftain came after me; it's hard trying to stay out of range of both. Got squished.

Jumping up walls? Running along ledges? Oh yes. I saw in a speedrun and implemented it in my run. It makes the base rather simple.

If you're getting spotted when you're trying not to get spotted, then yes, I say you're doing something wrong. Not a big deal though, RC Master says it's very possible to go loud once you get spotted. Beat the bridge first time going loud on my practice run. I'm still having a tiny problem with the two ultras right after you open the hangar. Today, I'm going to try plasma pistolling one instead; I get ganged raped most of the time when I try to assassinate them.

Ok, I'm still a bit confused. Do you mean to say that you can skip the skirmishers and the hunters entirely by jumping through the windows after breaking them? And why is it tactically advantageous to get on top of the roof of the building like AuraSoldier said?

It's easier to get passed the Hunters after dropping from the roof, I'd imagine. Otherwise you have to run through a choke-point.

I'm fast forwarding my last run because I think I've got the Hunter fight down. OPERATION: Hunter Punter Redux is go. (OPERATION: Hunter Punter was the name I used for knocking the Hunter pair over the ledge at the beginning of the Ark in Halo 3)

My friend, I respect you for the effort in comnpleting reach on Legendary with all skulls on Because truth be told, I finished it recently on Legendary. Didnt really find it hard as everyone was making out, and also I thought nightfall was very easy although people were raving about how hard it was. In truth, I found Long Night Of Solace (boarding the corvette)the hardest.

That said, I think players obviously can have different experiences on the same level. For example, I started the corvette mission with a concussion rifle and the DMR, still took out ALL the elites without a plasma pistol. But that part was tiring and patience was required, dont think i couldve done it without drop shield.
I just laughed when I read u were considering mythic, judging by dates u may have done it already. Certain parts of that game will be very VERY hard on Mythic, considering when you couple Mythic skull with Famine - PAINFUL!!!

Good Luck

Anyway, I'm struggling a bit at the AA gun on ONI: Sword Base. Any suggestions as to handle that area?

Yes. Destroy one wraith with the target locator, then destroy the other one by boarding it. Load up the warthog with a marine holding a rocket launcher (found by a small hill to the right of the wraiths next to a health pack) and a marine in the gunner seat. Go to the AA gun, then nuke the general next to the switch. Drive to the staircase in the back of the building where the switch is. Sprint up, hit the button, jump off the back to your warthog and GTFO to the comms tower.

You can find a video of this here.
Thanks. I'll try it out when I can find the time...

Good luck. One of my earlier strategies on Tip of the Spear was to push the hunters off the cliff with the revenant. It was ultimately scrapped when I realized that when they didn't fuel rod you when you got close or punch your revenant to oblivion, you boosted off the edge.

Impossible with the Tilt and Famine Skulls. And the Mythic Skull is not that bad. Sure, jackals don't keel over any more when you shoot them, but there are ways around it. Any unshielded enemy will die from a single shot to the head with a headshot capable weapon no matter how much health they have.

If i woke up looking like that, i would just run to the nearest living thing, and kill it.

I won't go mythic until i can beat legendary without dying. an with them FORCING you to use jetpacks on exodus i just don't think it'll ever happen.

You can skip all the battles up until that tower you have to clear out with the jetpack. Someone has a video of it somewhere.

The name is a bit of a misnomer, I'll say that. There really is no knocking them around on my own. That happens when they hit each other.

The general idea is to use Holograms to grab their attention by sending it straight at and through them. They'll melee at it when it is close enough. In some situations, the Hunters line up perfectly with the Holograms path. Hunter A melees at the Hologram and it passes through him. Hunter B then sees the Hologram as it passes through Hunter A and also melees, inadvertently hitting Hunter A.

Basically, my minute long clip shows the general idea of getting them turned around and exposed so I can shoot at them while also getting them to hurt one another. Hunter Punter Redux

Thanks again for the tips Legendary, they've helped. Now if only I could get that far in a real run. I seem to crash into EVERYTHING in space at the moment. I'm going to stop for today and hopefully beat it tommorow.

ONI: Sword Base complete.

Like I said, I did a few things differently here than I've seen so far, so hopefully you'll find the video to be useful. I wasn't a huge fan of the rocket passenger in the Warthog bit since the Elite's still seem to be able to dodge them with ease. Sure, eventually they'll be able to take them out, but I don't really want to stand there forever doing next to nothing while the AI does all the work :-P None the less, it's about 50 minutes long.

Enjoy!

I SHOULD have been trying to beat LNOS, but I got carried away with the daily and weekly challenges and then my friend came online...

Good job though. What's next, Tip of the Spear? It's a lot easier than Sword Base.
