Oh yeah! Tip Of The Spear completed on Mythic. But... next... is...
<_<
>_>
...Long Night Of Solace!
Uh-Oh. Better get prepared well before the real Mythic run. Aren't there three nasty places in that mission: first when you jump into the corvette, then the bridge and then finally the hangar.

When I get this mission done the rest is a easy work compared to Solace.

See that's what I though as well. But Exodus and PoA really challenged me far more than LNoS. My LNoS runs went almost perfectly (with < 10 tries total--sorry Alpine). Where as Exodus took around 20 tries, and PoA > 30. I guess the point is that there are still challenges after LNoS...
Well I think that Exodus will be medium hard to complete, it wasn't too hard to complete when I played the game with all skulls on except iron and blind. Main issue is the lack of ammunition. And the only spot for me to die easily is the falcon flight. (those damn walruses tent to kill me from the turret)

Really TWP on Exodus. I think of all the people on this forum I've had the best luck on Exodus. 1st try I got it. Solace is easy now. I only die from randomness on my double taps. That is occasional anyway.

Zami you mus thave lots of time as I only get time on the weekends with school and all.

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Next week I'll be doing Tip of the Spear LASO, followed by Long Night of Solace.

Like I said before, if the double-taps are giving you trouble, use the method in the Mythic Guide. It's slower, but the risk is nearly zilch.

Halo Reach 2/3rds of the way mythic conqueror (6/9)

First smelting room gave me my ass for breakfast. 24 deaths to hunters and now in smelting 2. Other than that it's all good with the mission so far even the rooftop skip which gives me no trouble.

Double taps can be random but it makes the cannon room a cinch. I have plenty of experience anyway.

Well kinda', I have much time to play now because here in Finland the autumns are very rainy so none of my friends wish to go out and the school? Heh, thats easy for me. Currently I'm in Finlands variation of US' highschool first year. It's personally quite easy for me so yeah, I have much time. And even more I have now because I'm on a 15 days long holiday.

Halo Reach 2/3rds of the way mythic conqueror (6/9)

Landing pad battle went perfect. I conserved my ammo. I ran out of DMR at the worst time. Killing the plasma chiefton. Oh well only one death where the fuel-rod chiefton got too curios.

Again smelting room 2 is giving me the most trouble. Any tips?
skip doesn't work all the time because the elites chase me to the hunters and they spawn. I eventaully just killed the elites with my needle rifle/ melees including the duel-wiedlers

The skip may not be working either because you're jumping off the catwalk too soon, or in the wrong place. Wait until the Phantom leaves, then make a run for it. Also, that's Smelting Room 1 :-P

Yes, the FRG Chieftain is the most challenging enemy in the mission if you ask me. Do you use my method or the Mass Driver route?

EDIT: On a side note, does anyone know what triggers Jorge's Falcon to arrive at the second Tyrant gun on Tip of the Spear? I used to think it was the destruction of the Tyrant and the two Wraiths, but recently I've had to kill nearly every enemy in order to get it to appear. Is there a specific enemy or set of enemies that need to be killed first?

Your's tyrant I like to be able to do the mission anytime rather than mess up the jump and have to restart. Its slower but it works. The fuel rod chiefton came up after me there was nothing I could do.

Good :-)

Using my method, it's easier to deal with the Chieftains since you have a better chance at being able to obtain a Plasma Pistol. Otherwise, you REALLY have to rely on the luck of the draw when it comes to the "trash-despawn" system that was integrated into the game.

Time + enemies killed. More enemies killed = he comes quicker. If you're down to just one enemy then they'll usually come right then, but he won't come if you've still got a huge number of enemies left.

It's nothing specific AFAIK: he'll come with Hunters or Elites or Skirmishers still alive.

The area is a piece of cake these days compared to when I first did it, so there isn't much trouble in just killing everything anyway.

That's what I figured. Reason I ask is because when you don't have a Wraith available, one of the fastest ways to kill the Hunters is to hit each of them with two 4-round bursts from a plasma launcher, then continuously needle the orange flesh. But doing the second half of that only works when they aren't facing you and are focused on the Falcon.

I thought I had found a way to guarantee that the Wraith on the right didn't back up off the cliff, but thus far, it's been completely random every time. The area is easy. That's not an issue. I'm just trying to speed things up a little bit :-)

  • 10.15.2011 10:16 AM PDT

Solace doesn't seem too hard. Trained the hardest spots of it and I've did quite well. (Don't get confused with the normal completion of the solace. Did it just to get exodus on the list so I can train it if I get bored with Solace)

[Edited on 10.15.2011 11:13 AM PDT]

  • 10.15.2011 11:06 AM PDT

Damn. First try on Solace failed miserabely due to hitting some kind of invisible block in the space behind corvette's engines. Just wtf is it, you can die in the space to stuff like that, there is a clip in my fileshare so you can go check it if you didn't get what I mean or just want to see it.

Second try I got killed by an airborne in the comms room. Tried to sword lunge him but as everbody know: If you don't have shields you won't survive the lunge because of the elite meleeing back.

Forgot in panic that I shoud shoot one rocket to an airborne and while hes in flight should I lunge him. Well, better luck tomorrow... =)

Halo Reach 2/3rds of the way mythic conqueror (6/9)

Once I fix the smelting room one, I'll try everything else seems to be going fine. Finish my run tonight with zealot then restart to smelting room and test my method.

  • 10.15.2011 3:17 PM PDT

Ungh, damn that comms room. Decided to try third time and got suprised by the last airborne with double rifles (I think it was last because I had already killed four) If I just could hear something but no. That room is starting to frustrate me already... everytime you die there you lose half an hour of work.

Do those airborne elites always spawn to the same spots and move around at the same areas of do they swich? Would help a lot to know where each of them move...

And is there a better technique to kill them other than by camping at the platform right under to the shield? That just seems to be hard way to kill them because either they don't come under the pIatform or they aren't alone there remember my first legendary run when those elites came to me when I was camping with the sword behind a covenant crate and then I lunged them when someone came near. Would it work with the dropshield on Mythic?

The ones that pop up at first never change places. The comms room is sometimes random though so stick to the guide. By t heway maybe one more practice run then a go at it might help. I am th eking of solace practice with 3 months of constant practice.

You could always splatter them with the Revenant: that's quick. ;)

It's hilarious when you manage to get them just right, and jam them against a rock or tree and send them flying off the cliff. So funny.

Actually, it's really hard though so I am joking with that suggestion: Don't try and splatter them!

What I do is to sword the two that come up, rocket the two on the comms, and then run to the Plasma Rifle Box (possibly after taking the dropsheild) and wait there for the other two to come to you - they often jump up from the lower floor to you for an easy kill.

Wrong. I've had a few rare cases where some move where they come up. I've also had it when some don't come up at all.

Ok, thanks for the tip. Better try it on a practice run few times.

Ungh, six tries already and I still haven't passed the comms room. Just -blam!- unbelievable that the room is all about luck. The first four elites are easy to kill (the ones that jump up and the ones who are doing something on the computers) but those two that remain are just annoying to kill. If they both don't jump for you from the bottom floor, it means they're in same floor and there is no way getting them killed if they're in the same floor. Just plain bad luck with that comms room. I give two tries today and two tomorrow, and if I can't still bet even past the comms room due to bad luck, I'll skip to exodus. Just annoying to lose all the work done already to some crap like bad luck...

Yes it is true but that's because they mess up and continue to try but fail again and again. I have had sometimes where they come up in a different spot but again it after they failed to come up

...

Oh god, seven tries on Solace today and got past the comms room only twice...

Both times when I got past the comms room I died to the two ultras right before the bridge. They somehow had noticed me and started to move around the room eventhought they hadn't seen me. What could have alarmed them.

I'm already starting to concider stopping to try Mythic...
Solace is just plain boring mission to spam over and over again because of always dying to same place with nearly the same reasons always. Also that space battle is just boring. It is fun once in a while but when I spam it I get very bored to it. It's just the same always. Shoot seraph's shields, run away while another seraph starts to -blam!- you, dodge, dodge, dode...

And there is no reason to do the other maps either because they're useless to do if I can't get Solace done too. Just if I can't get it done now, I won't get it done later...

...Can't handle the boredom and frustration of Solace...
