Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Best Regards,
The Tyrant

I'm not really seeing how it would be feasible to go through Covenant missions with Foreign, Famine, Eye Patch, and Recession enabled WITHOUT using Bandanna. You can no longer combo-kill your enemies which means it'll take quite a few more rounds to kill an Elite.

Without being able to use covvy weapons- there is certainly not enough ammo on the maps to even consider killing all the enemies without bandanna or skipping half of the level. Nade spam is a slight issue though especially with boom and grunt funeral on.

One final note. I know well enough never to call anything impossible to this community. However, I don't want the concept of "Mythic" to become so unbearably difficult that no one outside of our group is willing to try it. In the grand sceme of the Halo community, ours (while still relatively well known) is still fairly small. I don't want us to get to the point where we make it so hard that it crosses the threshold between "fun" and "why?" To me, Halo 3 Mythic is still less challenging than Halo 2 Legendary. I want our challenge to be difficult and challenging, but I don't want it to reach the point where no one wants to do it.

For those of you who have been around since our Halo 3 days, you may recall that once we had beaten Mythic to death in every which way, we began setting up small community achievements such as Mythic runs without plasma pistols, or without vehicles, or without the use of human weapons. Particularly with the implementation of our new Mythic Nation site, I say that we can set up challenges like that again for those who wish to take the campaign endeavor a step beyond ordinary Mythic and want to create an even greater challenge for themselves. This way, we can still maintain our standard Mythic procedure and give our folks something more to strive for without completely alienating ourselves from the rest of the Halo community.

Thoughts?

In all seriousness, I really don't see how using Bandana (when used against the other skulls) is any cheaper than clipping through a wall using a forklift. But then again, that's only my opinion.

Because one is a precise application of skill and knowledge, and the other is just holding down the trigger?

It's more like spamming nades then applying the tactical element of 'get the hell out of there' before the ridiculous splash damage kills you.

I don't know what happened when I was trying it out, but I think black eye recharged a bit of my health when it was low. Not fully but just a little bit. I'd have to do some controlled testing though to see if it really did happen.

Lastly, I reckon I'll have The Pillar of Autumn done later today. I have my last exam for uni in a few hours so when I'm home after that I'll get back into doing that. I almost got to the end on maybe my 10th try and it's easily one of the best missions for people to start out with.

I haven't made one yet primarily due to the current debate, but rest assured I will make one. In the mean time, I set up a nice debate thread in the Waypoint forums :-)

Few, finally back here. All tests passed and I'm happy now. Too bad that I couldn't post anything here for a while because you guys seem to have intresting topics here. (My computer was being repaired for 3 weeks) For that time I have taken a little break from mythic to enjoy the Reach multiplayer and now Anniversary. I already completed the Anniversary campaign on heroic and it was amazing (haven't played the original CE). I play the anniversary multiplayer for a while and then get back to Reach mythic.

But, I did complete the Anniversary on heroic, and I can say that it propably was hardest Halo campaign for me even on heroic. Of course the first time is the hardest but still I have a feeling that it'll be the hardest legendary one too.

And the Anniversary mythic? Uh-oh, can't even imagine how hard it is. All those new skulls and the flood. I wonder how hard combination Boom, grunt funeral, foreign and (what was it, the one that makes you consume twice ammo as you would normally.) I would have already died to those enormous explosions of grunts' bodies so many times if I had boom and grunt funeral on.

Also how much of the campaign skulls are found already? I've found only foreign and half of the terminals. Keyes level terminal was quite evil by the way. =P

Okay, I've spent about three hours today trying to master that Mass Driver jump with the concussion rifle and so far, I haven't been able to make it once...

I've seen the videos, but I must be missing something. Can anyone type out a descriptive tutorial on how to pull it off?

I've been throwing a grenade at my feel, jumping, and releasing 2-3 concussion rounds. So far I haven't even come close to nailing the pipes. I'm about too call BS on this one and leave it out of the guide entirely.

Firstly, you'd need at least 3 concussion blasts for the Grenade+concussion stack up the wall. Not two, that will be insufficient.

Secondly, don't do the grenade+concussion stack. It's mad hard and I, myself, do not do it any more.

Instead, if you really want to get up there, grab the Drop Shield from just before Boneyard and bring it with you. Then jump like this (alternate view). This method is FAR easier, FAR more reliable.

That said, for most people, during an Iron run, you're not going to get it on your first try, and you get MAX two tries at it before you run out of concussion rifle ammo.

I've never been able to get that method to work, so I've always stuck with the grenade/concussion stack

Yeah, this guy tried the same thing in Tyrant's LASO TotS thread 2/3 weeks ago, got flamed, and left. Report him and ignore.

Thanks for the tips, guys.

You know what sucks is that that the mission was very poorly designed from the landing pad on. It's a shame too. The battle itself is fine, but because they decided to fill the sky with ships and have the MAC gun blasting them, the trash despawn system is horrendous which means you could easily be left ill-equipped to deal with the Chieftains. And don't even get me started with the final sequence.

It could be just me, but in all honesty, I think we could have done without the light show and had a better fight as a trade off. Anyone else agree?

The problems only really show up on LASO. On Legendary it doesn't matter and is a reasonably fun and quick battle.

But what would Emile do in the mean time? You know he isn't going to just charge right out there in the middle of the action.

I do agree though. The constant firing of the Massdriver, and its side effects are beyond annoying.
