God Exodus is pissing me off. been trying to run it the past couple hours. On my last run, I was having a good time in my falcon, with full shield, when out of nowhere, our falcon gets banshee bombed, from the other side, mind you, so that I didn't even have a chance.

Wow, that's actually not fair. So mythic=tiny bit of luck?

There's definitely a small luck factor, but even more prevalent is the UNlucky factor. No need to worry though:

I return, once again, victorious.

I have completed Mythic Exodus.

God was that an annoying level. So glad it's over. Now onto Tip of the Spear.

Can someone help me out with Oni Sword Base? Im having difficulties with the first part cause I never can get Kat to go beyond the little bridge area. It doesnt seem to matter how many enemies I kill or how far up I push, she just wanders around doing nothing to help.

Once you kill the four grunts and two jackals that move towards you at the spawn, to up to where the 2 jackals were, and headshot all or nearly all of the remaining grunts and jackals in the courtyard. Eventually, the enemies will back up a bit, when they do that, run to the sniper spawn. If Kat doesn't move in and start fighting on the ground, kill a few more jackals and grunts, then run to sniper spawn again. It's worked every time for me, she'll move up, distract them all, and sometimes kill an elite for you.

Hey guys. I'm new to Mythic playthroughs, but I've decided to take a crack at it.

I got to the end of the first mission without any problems, but just got completely curb stomped by the 2 elites in the final room.

I've watch Tyrant's video. When he gets to the final room, he is able to back out through the door to retreat if the Sword Elite charges. Every time I get to this room, the door closes behind me, so I can't retreat.

How do you keep this door from closing?

You can't enter the "middle" of the room, where those boxes that randomly move up and down through the floor are. You can go as far as you want through the corridor on the right, but leave that and the door closes.

Died on the way back to the Hanger! :(

Died on a ranger I usually have no problem killing.

First run of the day though, so a slip up was kind of expected.

Has anyone tested focus rifles against ultras? If yes, is there enough rifle battery left in the rifles of those two rangers in the hangar to be practical against the ultras afterwards.

Also, dropped weapons seem to disappear after Jorge lands in the hangar so make sure you have what you want!

I managed to kill three Elites in a row at the initial drop. I went up the ramp by the Hologram and Armor Lock abilities and they were all sitting on the ramp. Went on to die in the bridge on that run, shame.

After failing to complete the "winter contigency" challenge with just two skulls on, time and time again, I suddenly have a newfound appreciation for these "mythic walkers".

I did make some use of them on Nightfall when I'd actually fight out the first battle. It seems like there is only enough battery to get rid of the shields on one Ultra. You'll have a little left after that, but not enough to do too much to a second Ultra.

In my run I placed crates so that the way back to the hanger will be way easier. e.g. placing 2 crates in front of the door where normally the enemies come through in the "cannon operating room" so that when you get back the enemies won't see you and you can just walk past them. I don't know if that was the cause of you're death, but it really makes it easier.

THAT IS VERY IMPRESSIVE MR. KOTTER.

Will the marines continue to the bridge if I decide to hold back a bit to set up crates? I don't want them blowing my cover.

Usually, the ultra that swarms the bridge with his squad will fall back when you've killed enough of his men. You'll still have to deal with him. You can avoid him by jumping on to the purple crate directly to your right on your way back to the cannon room. Then by jumping onto that little "wall" section, then onto that platform that leads back to the hangar. Drop your shield near the door, so he won't shoot you while you run past the plasma shields.

I haven't tried this, but it works consistently when you haven't blocked off the door way and when you don't have any shields.

Well to be honest I always let the marines die before that =), but the marines will wait in the cannon room as long as you don't go to far.

I tried using the plasma pistol today on exodus. It's surprisingly great against grunts, but I don't see the usefulness against brutes. It takes too long to take off their helmets.

  • 10.14.2010 5:02 PM PDT

So, I'm working on ONI:Sword Base, and I'm past the courtyard, killed one wraith, and the elite from the infantry squad which never gives me trouble noticed me behind him before I could assassinate him. I ran away, and while I was running, jacked the wraith since I had a perfect change. Which triggered the warthog coming. The elite stuck the gunner and I'm now pinned down behind a dead wraith with an elite on my own warthog gun, and Kat is nowhere to be seen.

Any ideas?

  • 10.14.2010 5:12 PM PDT

Dude, Elite Generals don't get shield popped with one plasma pistol overcharge. That's going to screw everyone right there. It's too hard for me, I'm a multiplayer guy. Even if I did enjoy A Monument to All Your Sins. That might have been too easy actually.

So, I can fairly say that I can consistently make it to the Spire on TotS now... So how should I deal with the Sword Elite up there? I've tried Plasma Pistoling once, and I tried "luring" him off twice. Got Uber-stuck every time. Any tips for me?

I beat Winter Contingency earlier. Attempting Sword Base now.

Well, I know which one I'm trying next ;)

Well, in spite of no Kat, no troopers, no warthog and nearly no ammo, I managed to nearly take out the AA gun area on ONI. I got cocky and tried to splatter an ultra with my ghost, and he -blam!- armor locked.

After an hour and 15 minutes trying to be clutch and recover a run that had pretty much gotten -blam!- up hardcore at the wraith part.

Sometimes I hate mythic.

  • 10.14.2010 6:17 PM PDT

so has anyone beat the entire game on mythic... if so is there a diff ending

Mythic Conquerer #12

Despite telling myself numerous times I wouldn't even attempt Mythic i've been sucked back in.

Winter Contingency is done.

I also found a way to make the final area way easier. Right after the cutscene with the Zealots trigger the concussion Elite and then leg it to the back of the room. Mop up the weaker enemies then wait for Jorge to move up and engage the Elite in a melee battle. Once they're battering each other move up and assassinate the Elite.

I've done this once and it only seems to work if there's still a lot of cover left otherwise Jorge will keep getting blown back.
