So I watched Michael's LNoS run today and really want to know how the hell he survived the dual wielding Elite at the end. That guy was practically on top of him and really wanted him dead.
I'm still wondering that myself. When I'm near the door and I'm plugging him with my needle rifle (I think I throw a grenade), I was thinking, "oh my god, no, no, NO, NO! I'mdeadI'mdeadI'mdead." I think I survived because he never landed a melee on me and the times he shot me, I guess my health recharged enough to let me survive. That part was pure luck. If he chose not to dive out of the way of my grenade, I would only have four out of the nine mission completed.
EDIT: I'm still debating with myself what is better for that part: Hologram, or Sprint. With Sprint, you can kill the ultras a bit quicker. But the main question is, what's better against the dual wielding ultra? I think it's useless to try to get away from the ultra with brute speed; he's faster, no matter what. Good thing needle rifle rounds make elites evade.
DOUBLE EDIT: Also, the way I deal with the ultras at the end of that run should not be considered to be a "good" strategy. It sucks. I even think it sucks. We desperately need a good strategy for that part.

If you're talking a melee fight, the answer is pretty simple, so long as they don't use their forward striking melee which has the most ability to connect. The "Circle of Pain", as I call it, makes them less of a threat than regular Ultras (normal Ultra's melee attacks for enemies behind them are faster to execute than a dual-wielder's). Circle of Pain is quite literally what it sounds like: circling the Elite while meleeing them continuously. If you hear your shields break, though, you just need to be a little more careful about how fast or slow you're moving and make sure that you hear your shields recharge fully from the next hit.
I was calling it "melee dancing", although your way sounds a lot cooler and a lot less -blam!--blam!-. If you hear your shields pop, land a hit and do your best to dodge the elite's next hit while your shields recharge. It's important to balance trying to kill him and letting your shields recharge. When you're fully shielded, you can survive two melees I believe?
Also, elites have a "melee window" too. You know how Bungie wrote that article about the one second delay between melees? Elites have that too, if that wasn't apparent. Take advantage of it!
