I hate doing campaign in order. Tyrant, do LNoS so I can get a good strategy! ;)

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Best Regards,
The Tyrant

Taking a break for the night. On my redo, I made it to the last Chieftain (fuel rod), but couldn't get the Jetpack to land inside without bouncing off something. Then I got pegged by the Concussion captain... Apparently I wasn't fast enough.

Figured out how to kill the Chieftain, though. Make him watch High School Musical 3. He'll turn the fuel rod cannon on himself.

Exodus finished. Yeah, this level has been done a million times already, but I found the strategies and the jetpack skips by myself. I haven't watched Legendary smile's videos. Honest.

I think I may have improved them, since the last "boost" is really easy.

At least my video includes a, "How to clear the final area in four minutes, no vehicles required guide", guide. It's probably not as good as Tyrant's, as it is quite risky at the wraith parts. I found that last part simple; I only died once there on a Mythic run.

People are really complaining about this level. I don't want to sound elitist or narcissistic, but I actually found that level's difficulty somewhere in the range of Winter Contingency's. I really didn't think it was that hard. Maybe Long Night of Solace has desensitized me. :O

Yeah but even after watching your run I don't know why you made most of the choices you did (ie: lots of sprint etc). Care to explain a bit further Michael?

You're going to have to be a bit more specific, but I'll try to answer what I can:

Sprint gets me places faster?

Anchor 9 makes great cover. I don't like to wander too far away from it.

It makes life easier if you assassinate the two rangers on the terminals.

After a number of grunts in the hangar die, the rangers rush that hallway. You can easily kill all if not most that way.

I haven't come up with a good strategy against those two elites after the hangar fight.

I knock a crate in front of the door to slow the covenant down. I knocked the other crate so I could jump onto the server more easily.

On the hangar holdout, I usually like to stay behind the pelican, but I thought that the elite from the other room followed me up. I was scared.

The reason for any other bad decision by me is because it was late and I was tired.

Tyrant, how do you get the fuel rod brute on the landing pad to stay still? This is the first real run where Ive gotten to him, but Im afraid hammer charging him wont work like it did in my practice runs.

It depends on what other actions are happening. Often times he'll get that Brute ADD, and as long as you don't do anything to provoke him ahead of time, he'll remain still. Otherwise, the best way to execute the hammer maneuver is to toss a grenade first to cause him to dodge, then jump down and keep hammering until he's off the ledge.

Thanks but I got past him already. I managed to pop his shields and kill. Unfortunately I got to the final section and a wraith shot came from a weird angle and killed me shortly after landing. Im done trying that level for the night. Too many runs ruined by BS.

Ouch. Yes they do that sometimes. I'm tempted to check out Michael's run to see how he clears that last area in 4 minutes without a vehicle. I mean, I attempted to rush both switches with the Mongoose but fell to one of the Wraiths both times. And then of course there's the issue surrounding the actual enemies hanging around the switches as well. It's worth a look, I'm sure.

Ah yes. Conversing with friends during a Mythic run can definitely help to take the edge off. I'm hoping to have Exodus redone by Saturday evening/night.

Ok, well to be more specific I was attempting to refer to why you only slowed the Covenant down with 1 crate when you can block them completely with 2 and how you managed to be so aggressive in the last battle.

Thanks for explaining the other stuff though, I'll have to put it to use.

Question to people attempting LNoS. Do you ever block the door that leads to the bridge? This way the Elite who retreats after you kill the General can't join his friend in the turret room.

Yeah, and the door the enemies come out of when returning to the Turret Control Room. Although once a supply crate fell through the floor, letting the Elite out.
Still killed him though.

Yep, divide and conquer, but in this case I'm dividing my enemies rather than my own forces.

I still have problems makign it past the comms room (Zealot in MP) and the Bridge though. If I could just get something definite down for thoe two sections I'd be golden.

The Mythic Threads (Halo 3) (ODST) (Reach)

I do sort of a kamikaze thing there, otherwise I just fail. I think I watched Legendary Smile's vid and he kind of hid behind corners and everything which I tried a lot but it got me killed. What I do now is I assassinate the Rangers that come up, jump down, assassinate one of the Elites, use the Sword to quickly kill the second Elite in the middle, jump down the hole in the middle, Drop Shield, then I kill the remaining Elites. Only times I die is when I hit the -blam!- Drop Shield instead of the Elite with the Sword. I suck with the Sword, I miss half the time.

The bridge is easy too, but the problem is that on Mythic, so much can go wrong, and with our luck, it goes wrong on our first try, whereas without Iron, it goes wrong after 5 successful tries. My only problem is the General. I generally just hide, go close, hide, go close, then I sprint to him and assassinate him. If I'm unlucky, he freaks out and backs away from me while shooting. I hate it so much when Elites can back up faster than you can sprint.

nice tip.

I'll try this method.

also LNoS is so random to me. I can't explain.

yesterday The last 4 ultras killed me. took me 4 hours to reach them.

my tip is: Do not use plasma launcher to kill ultras. that thing turn them into RAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWRRRR! rage mode [on].

my mythic campaign report:

ONI: done 10/14/2010
Nightfall: done 10/14/2010
ToTS: done 10/15/2010
LNoS: working on it.

This confuses me, I've seen SMile's run where he used the Sword but Michael used the Plasma Pistol. I've tried both myself and can't really decide which I prefer.
Any chance you could record that Drop Shield + Sword technique and send it to me?

I only saw two crates in the cannon room. I used one to block the door and the other to help me jump on the server. If there are crates I don't know about, knock yourself out.

I find the best way to kill elites is via assassination, but like I said, they're bad strategies and we need something better.

That is probably a good strategy. On my run, the ultra that ran back to the cannon room decided to find out how the cannons work and he manned one of the consoles. He didn't get it to fire, but I think he would have if I didn't assassinate him.

There are two reasons. One, I don't trust my sword skills; every time I try, the elite melees me to death, or I hit him too far away, then he shoots me to death.

The other reason is that I can't find a way to approach the general from the front and survive with no shields. Come to think of it, I haven't found a way to approach him from the front WITH shields.

Also, I kill the sword elite too close to the general; I couldn't pick it up.

Anything for you my man. Just let me try to retrieve a cable for my Xbox because it got lost...getting it back tomorrow. By the way, saw your "No Halo tonight?" message...I was away, at a friend's, and he mostly played.

*sighs* Reading all these tales of one mission after another being on Mythic really make me feel somewhat...inadequate. :-S
