Random question, but where do you see the list of used skulls in Game Stats per mission?

As in, hover your mouse pointer over the i in the blue circle next to the 'difficulty skull' on the game stats? This brings up an 'Additional Info' tab which shows the individual skulls used.

Third try of Pillar of the day, and I got to the Landing Pad and the Secret Ammo Crate got stuck half in the wall... I was killed trying to get it out. The mission is easier than LNoS so far in my opinion.

From what I've been told, everything up until the landing pad is fine. It's everything from that point onward that makes the mission insane.

This is true, getting there is really easy. It is annoying when the Secret Ammo Crate flies off the map and leaves you no DMR ammo.
Much better than the Sabre Fight which took 20 minutes anyway.

The Mythic Threads (Halo 3) (ODST) (Reach)

What is WRONG with this!!! Seriously, when I play without Iron it's a cakewalk but WITH Iron I can't even get past the first bit in space! FFS! I'm tearing it up when all of sudden, 4 Seraphs -blam!- me up in just about 2 seconds. Next run I'm more cautious, then they just wouldn't leave me alone, I did flips for 5 minutes and could never recharge because they landed one shot every time my shields tried to recharge. Eventually I died while flipping. Those were the first times I died in space, only difference was that I had Iron on. The fact that I raged at the easiest part of this mission made me lose hope. Iron should change name to buttf***. Normally I could tear every single Seraph up while cooking, with Iron on I get hunted down even when I hide. I didn't even get to the Phantoms. And why the -blam!- do they all attack me at once, there's seriously no way in hell anyone can outplay 3 Seraphs that are shooting you.

What a great day nerd-wise, Internet didn't work for some time, same with Xbox LIVE, had to troubleshoot it on the pc when it crashed for some reason so I'm left with nothing. When it finally worked, I could relax with a laggy game of Firefight and I get to end the day floating in space. And today alone wraps up my game time until next week. Awesome...

EDIT: Oh, I forgot, my LIVE will run out next week! Excellent!

The Corvette, lol. The Comms room with the elites is kind of hit-and-miss for me. I've tried the sword and the plasma pistol methods, and neither seem to be better than the other, but the rangers end up flanking me every time no matter what I do.

The room after that isn't all that bad, but the focus rifle rangers are a real pain in the ass since we really don't have any long-range shield-peelers. I have to get lucky with plasma pistol/rifle shots and hope they don't duck behind a pillar too long.

Anybody have any tips for ONI they picked up along the way? I've watched a couple videos, and people seemed to be doing different things, particularly on which way to bring the wraith to the fights.

I also found this mission to be more of a pain in the culo than other people made it out to be. I always breezed through the first fight and then died on that wraith part. I found it safest and easiest to keep sprint and run down the right path. Target locate the wraith in the back, then target locate the wraith in the front (and hopefully that will kill some grunts and save some marines). Then assassinate the elite as he is distracted by Kat.

Rocket Hog I found > wraith. Make sure you have two marines, not Kat b/c u want her distracting the enemies in the next area. If she refuses to leave your hog, drive toward the grunt/ghost area, drop her off and let her fight them, then drive back and pick up a marine.

You should kill everything except for the general. Park the hog under the right side of the building, run inside to the front right of the building, and jump up to activate the switch from the opposite side. If you want, u can peek up and try to assassinate the general, but you dont have to.

At the transition section with the ghosts, drive up to the point where your hog shoots at the closest one and get out. Then hopefully the next ghost will get closer to get destroyed, if not then drive your hog a lil closer. I usually then drive past the 3 elites and grunts to go to the next section.

At the comms array, your first priority is the revenant. I found this slightly risky, but you should drive all the way to the other end, turn around, and drive around the valley area until 2 rockets destroy the revenant. Then DMR the skirmishers and grunts. Then park your hog at a point on the end where you came in where your marines shoot at the elites but they dont shoot back. Don't try to splatter b/c they have armor lock and stickies.

Once you activate the first switch at that side, park your hog in the bottom middle and sprint to the next switch. I like to stand by the door where grunts run in and take them out first before heading up to the top. Taking out skirmishers on the way also helps keep you safe.

Now you have a Gauss rocket hog. sweet. Drive it all the way back around where you know everything is dead (general will disappear by this point if u didnt kill him earlier) and drive the left path up to the button. Park your hog a little to the right tho as you get out b/c the revenant may be shooting at your. Also be careful driving the hog b/c i once flipped and died at this point and it really ticked me off.

Use the gauss turret to destroy all the enemies. Usually a lone elite is left, u can deal with him after getting your gauss over the barricades. I struggled for some reason in my actual run b/c i never perfected a technique; blowing up the sides w/ the gauss then driving at a slanted angle worked wonders before. Either way, take your time and you will get over. Then angle on the right to kill the elite w/ the gauss. then gauss the hunters and grunts/elite inside.

The concussion elite next is a pain if Kat never engages. I must have waited 10 min before i started plasma pistoling his to get his shields off and shoot him in the head. Tip: watch out for the grenades next to the power-ups b/c they can blow you up if he shoots a concussion shot next to them.

Now kill the jackals w/ headshots and PP the elite to death. Use the trick jump on the left side to skip all the enemy spawns. At the first bridge, kill the 2 skirmishers on the left who are shooting at your marines. Then sprint to the top and grab rockets.

DMR the two jackals. Rocket the 2 invisible elites best you can or pump a bunch of DMR shots in them to make them fall. I think 1 rocket to their body kills them, but might be 2. Careful of the phantom as it drops these elites b/c the grunt on the turret can tear you up if you are outside or even inside in the middle area.

Rocket to victory and be happy that this frustrating mission is finally over...

What's sad is that i can't even do Winter Contingency Mythic... Haha. I keep grabbing the Falcon and forgetting what the controls are to fly it xD Then i actually manage to fly it into the spirit transport so it would push me through the barrier but it failed and pushed me off after the first barrier >.<

On another note, do you guys reckon a Nightfall Pacifist run would be possible?

EDIT: Oh, I forgot, my LIVE will run out next week! Excellent!

I know how you feel Gaz, the Seraphs would always be a pain for me too. A little thing I realised for dealing with the seraphs is if you're engaging one, you take it's shields down etc, if another one starts shooting you or you even hear them firing, immediately do a flip backwards (barrel rolls are a death wish) and immediately target the new one. This scares it into evading and retreating and you can potentially destroy it without being harrassed too much.

Another tip to note is that as soon as wave 2 comes in with the multitude of banshee's and seraphs, you can easily take out the seraphs by paying close attention to which one is being assualted by Anchor 9's turrets. A lot of the time you can mop up a heap of seraphs that have been dogged by Anchor 9 which makes that section much easier.

As for the phantoms, 4 volleys of missiles destroys a phantom. Usually you'll often be ignored if you're targeting the phantoms and once all are down, the remaining enemies will retreat.

If you still need some help though, you can always download my run in case you want to see how it can be tackled.

I admit though, I'm very good with the sabre as I'm talented at all sorts of flying based games which helps rub off, but it shouldn't be too hard to master the space section with a little practice.

Easy?

It's easy getting past the wraith? It's easy getting past the "This is Captain Keyes of the Pillar of Autumn" shootout? It's easy getting past the Shade turrets and the Ghost? What about the warehouse and the hunters? The sword ultra?

Wraith: Can be despawned and all enemies can be bypassed.
Difficulty: Easy yet time consuming.

Captain Keyes dialog section: All elites can be despawned at both sections of boneyard by backtracking to the loading point before the scarab cutscene, leaving just jackals and grunts.
Difficulty: Easy yet time consuming.

Shade turrets & ghosts: Aforementioned despawning affects these guys too. Shades can be lasered with ease though.
Difficulty: Easy.

Warehouse: Elites can be tricked into moving either into or outside of the warehouse by standing on a particular point of the stairs on the back side of the warehouse. Killing them still requires patience and tact.
Difficulty: Moderately easy to semi-hard depending on luck and whether Emile positions himself well allowing for easy assassinations.

Hunter fight: Hunters can be skipped by going onto the roof and running around the back of the area and crouch jumping through the window.
Difficulty: Easy to downright ridiculous. Depending on Emile's compliance and distracting abilities, getting past the hunters will either be very easy or ridiculously complicated and time consuming.

Sword Elite: Doesn't move up unless you move up first. Won't rage when all jackals are killed either.
Difficulty: Easy, as you can stand on top of a container and he won't be able to get you, thus allowing you to quickly pop his shield with a few pp shots and kill him with a follow-up headshot.

Beyond the aformentioned parts, it comes down to the players own skill and intuitiveness for survival to get past the landing pad and the zealots. There are however tricks to make the battles easier such as making the brutes play Brute n' go Boom! or by using the hologram in tandem with the 'elite rage room' to assassinate the zealots.

Well, I played through LNoS sans Iron, and managed to destroy the Four God Elites of the Apocalypse via 4 assassinations... In my following Mythic attempt I made it to the bridge, but got destroyed when they became randomly aware of my presence...

Oh well, it's progress!

Thanks Aura, the thing is though that the part has never been a problem for me, just now did it become super mega hard for some reason. I'll try a couple of more times next week, but it's not like I have all the time in the world, sadly.

Don't even need to do that. One overcharged shot followed by a headshot is enough to kill him. He isn't an ultra so it doesn't require that much effort to kill him.
One (or two, can't remember) Sniper shot to the head kills them, I tested it on the ones on Nightfall at the Pylon area. This was before the Nightfall skip was discovered.

Ignorance is the true enemy of all things.

Rocking Bungie.net for over 8 years!

Well I finally did Exodus! It didn't end up being that many attempts in all, just a few frustrating ones, with a long gap because of those damn civis!

I ended up making use of quite a range of weapons, including an AR!

After using a PP to kill the suicide grunts, I grabbed all their needlers and used them to get a couple of quick kills on the first lot of Brutes. After that I used a mixture of AR to de-hat Brutes (yes, it takes a while, but I hate running out of pistol more than I do using up time), then finishing them off with a pistol headshot. With grenades and full pistol kills thrown in where appropriate.

Around the corner in the long hallway, after dispatching the first couple of grunts I did a similar thing: using the railing of the staircase on the left as cover, I slowly ARed off the 3 brutes hats there and finished them with a pistol headshot. Then I grabbed the sniper rifle and used it on the captain and the too brutes on the staircase on the left. Then, as per Tyrant's suggestion, I used the needler in the case near the lift for quick kills on the two hammer captains. Finally finishing up with the rest of the sniper ammo on the brutes and my now plentiful DMR and Pistol ammo on the skirmishers and grunts.

With the FRG Chieftain on the Executive landing pad, I did what Tyrant suggested a while ago: stand on the stairs with his head out of view, and PP his legs/feet until his shields where off and then DMRring his head until he died. Its pretty funny this still works on Brutes (I remember doing it a few times in Halo 3) and its really easy and SAFE so I can't imagine what easier method Tyrant has been mentioning he has...

The Falcon ride is always hairy, ugh!

Anyway, at Beachhead/the missile battieres, I jacked the first wraith (the one under the bridge) with an aggressive PP overcharging rush, hijack, two melees to get the hatch open, then hop off, jump on and melee the driver until dead. Yes you could simply get into the turret and force him out, but I found the driver would take off my shields before I could kill him. After massive success with the Wraith on The Package, this is what I'd been doing in my Exodus attempts since then.

I still had a little trouble actually activating the switch with just the two Chieftains left; I thought I'd hit it, but it seems my placement was off the first try. Eventually got it by jumping up to the ledge at an oppurtune moment.

Anyway, with that down, I'm now 7/9. Just Long Night of Solace and PoA left! Dreading LNoS the most because of the laborious space sequence and the bloody unskippable cutscenes! I only see a few problem spots in PoA really.

In other news, I finally grabbed my original Tip of the Spear Mythic run from my harddrive (had been using another one), and I've uploaded it to my fileshare for posterity. You can see it here. So, you can see how the strategies have evolved since 25th of September!

*also, selfishly, just in case Bungie did want to know for certain who did each mission on Mythic first. :P

Posted by: Michael_Archer
Now, I'm going to talk about myself. I never hated the Blind Skull until New Alexandria; there are so many different possible side objectives that it's really hard to memorize where they all can be.

Don't memorize. Research. If you really don't want to look at my guide to the side-objectives for new alexandria (page 12 btw) then do research yourself: note down the radio chatter, where it is in relation to landmarks, what you encounter when you get there. Take pics if that helps. Trying to memorize it all is silly.

Edit: I see you are using my guide, nevermind :P I'll come back to NA and try to find and document some of the ones I've missed.

TRIPLE EDIT: Ok, while the above fuel rod strategy is not objectively better, it's a nice alternative if other strategies aren't working. It makes it a bit easier to kill the brutes in the hospital since needle rifle ammo is short.
The Brutes are easy anyway; you've got tons and tons of DMR ammo around. Yes it takes more shots, but you have so much extra range on them that its no problem.

Mythic:
All Skulls, Legendary, Single Player?

So you can't do this on 2 player?

You can, but it'd be a different accomplishment. Its usually called 'dual-mythic' (or tri- or quad- for the appropriate number of players).

Easy?

It's easy getting past the wraith?

Yes. Armour Lock rush it. Or de-load it....

It's easy getting past the "This is Captain Keyes of the Pillar of Autumn" shootout?
Yes. Kill jackals and skirmishers, run down the side past the Elites, or de-load the elites...

It's easy getting past the Shade turrets and the Ghost? Oh yes, very much so. You have 3 lasers in that area and a bridge taking you straight over the ghosts anyway.

What about the warehouse and the hunters? Well, I still find those guys a bit tricky...

The sword ultra? No. No problem.

Fake edit: lol, aura said basically the same thing :P
