1100th post.

Anyway, I just had one of those 'moments' on PoA with the hunters. You know that kind of moment where you're like 'c'mon, c'mon, stop being d-bags and let me slip past you'? Yeah, well it was one of those moments.

The hunters' refused to budge from their positions and emile was doing a terrible job at getting their attention too. When I had my opening I was like 'time to leg it!' I get to the window, a hunter's noticed me, and the other see's me through the space inbetween the cargo crates opposite to the window so in vain my jumping through the window was quickly cut down in a series of cascading green, fuel-roddy explosions.

Enough rambling for now, back to PoA.

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Best Regards,
The Tyrant

I was there for General K's conquest :-) Awesomesauce!

Not sure where I stand on the Exodus redo, though. On one hand, I really just want to get it out of the way, but on the other, I just want to move on with Mythic and come back to it later.

I'm torn here.

no proof that he finished it i'll fix your post for you.

He has saved films and stats. We take this very seriously. Do you honestly think we'd simply take someone's word for it?

Yes, I believe everything everyone tells me on the internet...

Early morning post. I've decided that, more or less, I've mastered everything I need to do for Pillar of Autumn. Everything up to the landing pad is down to a science (and hopefully it will feel fun the next time I get to it), the landing pad itself is not really that bad. (Fear the pink mist, monkeys), and the Zealots are a bit touch and go, but given enough excessive caution, they can be made to do what I want. Now that I have a better understanding of when to do what at the Mass Driver, I'm not to worried about pulling it off.

So, I've decided to move on to another mission that I don't have nearly as much experience on...and also because I'm sick of the colors on Pillar of Autumn. I'm going to get reacquainted with the color purple...well, just as soon as I knock off Exodus.

Good luck with that. Purple as it turns out is a very infuriating colour and many come to despise it.

As for the whole needle rifle stuff people tend to utilise, I've still found that I haven't made use of it once. Why I don't know but maybe I should try it out.

It would make killing stuff alot easier too considering the covenant will try to avoid it like the plague and are usually open for a good second or two after they've tried dodging.

Having a short break from PoA atm though. Top Gear is on and I like watching some Top Gear :)

Ohhhh, I know what you're talking about now, hehe. Yeah, I've watched other peoples' runs and nobody else did that, so I figured I'd give it a shot and see how it worked out. At the very least, I figured it would give me a semi-safe haven.

As far as the full-on assassination, you have NO idea how good that felt!

Your clever use of small crates for cover reminded me of how I would play on Halo 2 Legendary. A lot of times I'd be using small boxes as cover to shoot at Elites from.

I did notice in the hanger (first approach) you ended up using the Plasma Pistol from the same spot I had been planning to use, and since I wasn't actually playing, I was able to note something about why that spot works the way it does. The Rangers are firing but not hitting you because they're aiming for your center of mass, which just happens to be behind the railing. They can see your head, ergo they want to shoot.

As for that small opening Jew man found in the cannon room, most excellent. That's the kind of spot I was hoping I could find in that room.

I can't take the credit for it, Legendary showed me because I was having problems with that room.

And lol at PoA, fell off the map at the Landing Pad. I also managed to get stuck in a small area, quite hard to describe.
It's at the Invasion Part on Boneyard. When standing where the Elites spawn during Phase 1; where you go up the left stairs and there's the DMR Crate to the right (only on Campaign) and if you follow it along it leads to the crane room. I was running back to there from the room that leads onto the crane and thought I'd jump on the scaffolding just before the Crate. I slipped and fell down, there's invisible barriers down there so you can't get back into the map. Had to restart.

Anyway, I currently have a pause at the second wave of the Landing Pad.

The Mythic Threads (Halo 3) (ODST) (Reach)

I can only imagine how long it'll take me to beat Long Night of Solace..... ugh.
That's what me and Dark said about Coastal Highway but bam, first try, got it done. I'd say it's best to worry about what's right in front of you and not further in terms of missions. Plus we all do it at our own pace.

This is really to everyone who has trouble with one mission. Watch films. Not one, a couple. Add our knowledge to your own, that's how you get ahead of everybody else. When you fail, throw your controller all you want but don't say to yourself "If I can't beat this mission, how the hell am I supposed to beat that mission?!"

The problem is that fun is something you must have while playing, which quite frankly can be hard sometimes when doing Mythic. Specially in Reach, at least for me it is. I'm sure most of us here know how to deal with that stuff though, as long as you don't dig your head into serious Mythic you should be fine.

While we're at it, LNoS is in particular very disgusting in a way on Mythic...let's put it in this way: I played ODST Firefight for three-four days straight while trying to beat some scores (but obviously they never uploaded, thank you Online Stats). After, AND during that game, whenever I actually saw a Brute doing the Spike grenade throwing animation, I felt like throwing up. Because that's all I had seen for four days. All I heard was "This is for you!" *Plasma Bolt* *Pschh* "Aahhhh! *Silenced Magnum round* "Ughh!"

LNoS? Well...you know that...cutscene...that you can't skip? I've come to the point where watching 6's head shaking in the Sabre makes me ill. Not only that, the sound effects make me ill, specially because I know how they were made (This guy shook his desk with some other stuff to make a shaky sound) and whenever I hear it, I think of that desk...

^ I know how you feel, that's how I felt doing Cortana on Halo 3. I knew every single Gravemind and Cortana line perfectly by the time I was done.
I never played the mission again.

With the cutscenes in LNoS I'm just gonna waste a couple of minutes on Bnet to save my sanity.

Once again RC Master, thanks for your guide. I'm sure it will be of great help to future generations like it was to me.

You're welcome. The locations of the side-objectives guide was an entirely selfish endeavour to begin with; I needed it for my own run. Just thought I might as well share it so the effort isn't duplicated.

Also, Gaz, if you're really getting bogged down by Long Night of Solace; try something else. The Package, New Alexandria are both a lot easier, even try practicing PoA for kicks. You'll get there.

Most enemies do this. A good example would be during my Mythic run of New Alexandia, in the hospital: just peak out over the edges of the glass barriers just enough to see your enemies' heads. You can hit their heads and kill them, but they want to hit your centre mass, so hit the barrier in front of you instead.

I haven't seen the run in question yet, but in my 11 skull run of LNoS, I used a small crate as cover on the left side of the room to PP the two Focus Rifle rangers. Took a while!

It's a really good thing that the enemies don't intentionally aim for your head. If it weren't for that, I don't think I would find the 6 Skirmishers after the Drone swarm to be so easy.

I just use rockets to take care of the drones when they're packed together and quick precise headshots (or rockets, whatever I feel like at the time) to take out the skirmishers.

Anyway, I'm about to face the 4 zealots of the apocolypse (akin to LNoS' 4 ultras of the apocolypse) so wish me luck guys. This time that carrier is gonna fall I just know it ;)

Otherwise I'll probs just post another FML about the damn insta-kill banshee bomb. Whichever one happens, happens. Off I go!

Edit: 2 down. They're being really picky this time round though so I had to take out both normally without assassinations. On to the field marshall and duel-wielder 2.

Edit 2: The second duel wielder down. God he came that close to killing me on around 2-3 occasions. The backsmack I scored on him was more like a smack on the side but regardless thank god for the right shoulder assassination thingy.

I'm usually out of needle rifle ammo by the time I make it to the landing pad, and this is on regular Legendary. How do you save it?

That's ok. Along with the "greed is good" speech in Wall Street, Ayn Rand once said that, "[the word 'selfishness'] does not include a moral evaluation; it does not tell us whether concern with one's own interests is good or evil; nor does it tell us what constitutes man's actual interests. It is the task of ethics to answer such questions."

I'm one of those people that are confused when someone tries to insult me by calling me "selfish."

I think Gazas should get more respect for when (yes, when) he beats this level. I believe I was the second person to beat this level? Legendary smile was the first, but he didn't really talk about it that much. Now with General Khazard and jew man man passing him on this, the arguably hardest level in the game, has left him demoralized as shown by his response to General's victory post. Good luck Gazas, you have the hardest mission of all.

Aura got it first, quite a while ago. Legendary was second to get it, it was his final mission.

Well I'm at the mass driver right now. Here's hoping fate is finally shining down on me.

Carrying on the edit's from my prior post;
Got the field marshall...finally. The guy didn't whip out his sword when the other guys died like I heard and we ended up playing one loooong game of cat and mouse.

Edit: YES!!!! OH GOD YES!!!!!!!!!! I DID IT FINALLY!!!!!!!

*calms down and composes self*

Good news! I finally did PoA :D I guess I'm now Reach's second conqueror too now huh :)

Ah I can't tell you all how good that feels having finally bested that which has bested me time and time again. It took me considerably longer in the end (considering the last 4 elites were so disagreeable with me) than my predicted forecast of the level; a rough estimate of 1:30:00 to 1:50:00 but who cares. That glorious time of 2:23:32 is music to my ears.

And for convenience sake, all my films can be downloaded in my Reach Mythic fileset here.

Here are the game stats for all levels:
Winter Contingency
ONI: Sword Base
Nightfall
Tip of the Spear
Long Night of Solace
Exodus
New Alexandria
The Package
The Pillar of Autumn
Lone Wolf

Lastly, good luck to everyone else who is still going at it. Reach Mythic is tough, but it ain't invincible ;)

But before I forget, Blu Bomber, Muzz, the rest of the crew, now you can all officially stop bugging me to get PoA done. You guys can be annoying beyond belief but you were there in the tough moments and you helped me formulate some sound strategies for several of the levels and for that you have my thanks :)

For the last time, Tyrant, its what BUNGIE says goes, and according to BUNGIE you beat SLASO, Mythic is ONLY THE MYTHIC SKULL.

Quit trying to act like you OWN THE DIFFICULTY SETTING just because you can beat it.

Excuse me? What the hell is your problem? For the LAST TIME to you, Bungie, HBO, Wiki, and Halocharts acknowledge the setting.

Of course, you can continue to believe what you want regardless of the facts me or anyone else place in front of you. That's your right, but whichever path you choose to follow, you were just out-played. Good day to you, sir.

Wow, congratulations AuraSoldier! That must be an awesome feeling...

I want that feeling...I NEED that feeling...I'm only two levels away from it.

Which four apocalypse elites are harder? POA or LNOS? I would think LNOS, since they're ultras, but then again LNOS has a lot more space to move around and A LOT more supplies.

When I was playing POA, the zealots didn't run back into the warehouse until I got closer after I dropped of Cortana. I must do additional testing...
