Twenty-ninth Halo 3 Mythic Conqueror
Eleventh Halo 3: ODST Mythic Conqueror
Fifth Halo: Reach Mythic Conqueror
Wow, just finished my Mythic minus Iron run of POA. I know I shouldn't jump to conclusions, as a no Iron run feels very different than a Mythic run, but the level is not that bad. I know, I said the same thing about LNOS when I was practicing it, but seriously, I only had four deaths and two or three were experimental! I died once at the beginning; I was experimenting with mongoose paths. I died when I charged with no shields at the remaining concussion elite in the three ultra metal smelting room because I got angry that Emily got knocked off the catwalk and into the abyss. I made the jump into the window on the first try, thanks to Vincent's tip. Died once on the pad; I was testing out the timings on when to go to the DMR crate. I also reverted to last checkpoint, because a brute threw a grenade at me when I was grabbing DMR ammo and knocked the ammo off the cliff; I'll be sure to make sure there's no brutes around next time.
I DID die once using RC Master's "stair strategy" when an zealot decided to run down the stairs after me. In the strategy's defense, I will say I was using the hologram (stupid, the Marshal (I swear, they look so much like zealots; if they didn't have the horns, they would be almost indistinguishable) shoots fuel rod cannons at the hologram. Zealots like to charge you, but I think something about their AI script at that part will make them stay on the first level unless something is REALLY close to them like my hologram and then after it dissipated, me. I did find the hologram useful when climbing up to the second level to make the elites fall back.
The mass driver has a huge luck element. Even if I jump in and mass drive one phantom and jump out (Maybe I should shoot two. Why not?), it's still REALLY close. Shooting isn't as bad as I thought; you only have to let go of the trigger for a split second before firing again. I need to do more testing, so I saved the checkpoint right next to it. I plan to spend my free time tomorrow practicing my mass driving.
EDIT: If I don't finish the level this weekend, I'll finish it next weekend when my prize controller sticks from HBO's headshot contest come. Despite Louis Wu's thumb's up and the testimonies on the maker's website, I think the placebo effect has a lot to do with it. I would never actually buy one myself, but hey, free stuff. As long as my skills get better, I'll take it, even if it is just a placebo.
