LNoS beat me with a nasty trick; I made it to the Comms room perfectly fine, but then the two Rangers manning the consoles suddenly weren't there, instead they were int he outer ring so I had four Elites to contend with, got confused and couldn't hear the guy behind me. :-(
Still, it was an acceptable first run.
This happens when a marine gets knocked down to the comms room. Make sure you make it down there before them! It's not that bad if you can't; they only have Plasma Repeaters. That's still bad, just not as bad as if they had rifles.

It appears as though your Pelican is very durable to everything EXCEPT the Shade Turrets. I just had another run, and once again, died at the last Shade Turret.
However, I tried something different. Before bringing my Falcon over to grab the Pelican, I kicked my two gunners out, and pushed them far enough away so I could drive off without them. I then came back and picked them up. The pelican gunner seems to be doing a pretty good job.
Having saved and quit, I think I have finalized what is the best course of action. Allow me to show you my transgression-
First, I tried to just drive the Pelican, and tried to push the shade turrets off. Most of the time, this works, however on some, the Shade gets stuck in a small crevice on the tower, and the pelican cannot reach them. Fail.
Next, I tried to pick up a gunner, and I would park directly above/behind a shade turret, and wait for it to be destroyed by my gunner. The gunner appeared to get too preoccupied with the banshees that it took too long for him to zero in on the Shade.
Finally, I came up with a solution. Using a combination of the two, I would line up my Pelican to push the shade turrets off their buildings and into oblivion, but should I accidentally knock one into a small crevice, I could usually get my gunner to destroy it.
I've tested it a few times, and this strategy seems to work best.
Or...use a Falcon and kill them in a matter of minutes.
No offense...
