Didn't you say you got cut up even though you were standing on a silver container?

Once; I was standing right at the edge watching the fight go on below me. Was my fault entirely, I was too close to the edge.

MATCLAN: Those Focus Rifle Elites do like to meander around the hangar sometimes. Did you bring an ammo crate with you for cover? Since the gravity is so low, it doesn't take long at all to melee one down the corridor.

I did use one to kill the 4 other Rangers. Never thought about bringing it further forward. >.<
Thanks for the tip.

I'm so pissed. After lasering the shade turrets, I went on the catwalk to go look through the hole in the roof to see if the elites had spawned. I stuck my head up for literally one second and the elite there thew an über fast grenade which stuck to me. Twenty minutes down the drain, because elites are jumpy and precise. I thought that there was a brief moment where elites acknowledged your presence before attacking!

I was so mad I yelled out loud by myself.

Well, I've got a bit more time. I'm staying up to set the clocks back.

Does anyone have a sound strategy for the focus rifle Elites on Long Night?

I died on the plasma launcher chieftain wave again. At that point, the game isn't testing my skill; it's testing my endurance. It takes me fifty minutes to get from the start of the mission to the last wave of the landing pad. I'm just tired. If it was the middle of the day and I was well rested, I would have gotten it for sure.

To people who've beaten POA: For the last wave, what targets should I prioritize? I usually supercombine the brute minors the second they drop down on top of the building, since they won't flinch. After that, I look for the fuel rod grunt. Then, I move up a bit trying to kill the chieftan with plasma pistol+needle rifle. Should I choose different targets? Is this a good order? Should I kill a few captains before moving on the chieftan?

Yeah! Grab a full plasma pistol underneath where those rangers are typing in the comms room. Enter the hangar and immediately go left. Hide behind the little "wall" there. The focus rifle rangers can see your head, but they aim for the body, so they won't hit you that much. You can pepper away at them with the plasma pistol.

How would you go about skipping the trigger of the enemies coming out that door? They aren't hard to kill anyway, it would probably take longer trying to clip through the door than just fighting and killing them all. Three or four Grunts are easy enough. Then an Ultra which can be killed in a few ways, either knocking him down or killing him from below in my case.

Well, excuse me for trying to be progressive. I was under the impression that no enemies=good.

This reminds me: I did once, somehow, skip the spawn for the Hunters, Skirmishers, Jackals, Sword Elite, Ultra and Grunts just beyond the smelting room on PoA, during an attempt at an Easy speedrun. But, as mentioned, it locks the door out of the second, sword elite, smelting room. Which practically ends the mission unless someone can figure out a way through that door without the enemies being there.

I am wondering why the elite isn't affected by the Tilt Skull; the DMR should do no damage against his shields.
Oh he still is. It takes a good couple of clips to kill him. Tilt doesn't negate the damage entirely, just reduces it by a bunch. And fortunately the spec-ops Elites' shields are weak enough that you can kill then with a reasonable amount of fire.

Lol, exact same thing happened to me once. The trigger for them is about 3/4 along the bridge. You should notice a slight hitch as it does the loading. Looking in through the sky-light is just an extra precaution.

Turn of toggle crouch. I find that setting makes it much harder to nail crouch-augmented jumps.

The PL Launcher Chieftian himself is a bit useless. He's no real threat. If theres anything else in range thats shooting you, hit that first.

PPing them from behind the ramped wall on the left side has worked every time for me. Should have more than enough ammo unless you're firin' off overcharges everywhere.

Gazas purely used the Needle Rifle. The faster travel time and the way it makes them evade allows you to keep putting pressure on without them returning fire as much.
Although personally I prefer using the PP to weaken them a bit first then finish of breaking their shields with the Nerfle.

By the way guys, anyone attempting New Alexandria at the time, I recommend you do NOT use the Phantom/Pelican.

During a test run of New Alexandria by Gazas and I, we finished the mission twice in a Pelican and each time it reverted us both to last save. It may just be co-op, but I don't want people on solo being reverted to the start of the mission.

The pelican thing there isn't there to do the mission with its just there for the easter egg, it stops all check points, same goes for those banshees on the package (those stop all check points and makes those anti air guns unable to be destroyed)

LNoS is down. Man it felt good owning those Elites with the Pelican gun.
Had some pretty tense moments too; ran out of PP charge in the Bridge so I had to use a Plasma Rifle.
Then after the Bridge in the fire control room my box trap failed and I had an angry Elite to deal with. The range wasn't cutting it with the PP so I backed off and he started randomly patrolling the stairs allowing me to crouch walk behind the server banks and eventually assassinate him.
After that it was plain sailing in the Pelican.

Not at all bad for only my second attempt of the day (first one ended after 5 mins when an Elite refused to be assassinated and stuck me lol)

:-D

I'd been paused for a while and running out of PP ammo really slows things down. The enemy layout on the bridge was painful too; 2 Grunts and an Elite directly in front of me.

As I've been doing the missions in order I've got everything after LNoS to look forward to.

Huh whaaa? Thats exactly contrary to what I experienced: When I was doing one of the 'campaign without dying' challenges with my GF this week (or last, can't remember), I just flew to the landing pad and BOOM, cutscene. This was local though.

Maybe it has something to do with doing it over Live?

I'm sick of Elites, can't wait to fight Brutes.
Although it really wasn't that bad, I think I've only done six runs at LNoS, I knew that once I beat the Comms room I could do everything else.

EDIT: BTW the actual time was only 1 hour 45, not over 2 hours. I'd paused to get a drink at some point and also to answer messages and talk to people. I wasn't taking any chances with the audio.

Yes, now that I've watched videos on both methods, I think the latter is the better choice. The Needle Rifle would be great if they didn't try to evade every round which means adjusting my aim for every shot.

I'll give it a go this evening. Thanks, and also thanks to General K. for the download. I used his video as reference for that room.

PS: Gratz on LNoS :-)

lol. If anything, this should be proof that people reaching the credit cap on a daily basis are playing the game too much. As much as I do Mythic, Firefight, and Living Dead, I have yet to reach the daily cap.
