Edit: WTF, random death in space. No enemies left in the area, I do a half-somersault and die.

Game stats list it as "Collision Damage". There was nothing out there to collide with, unless I somersaulted in to some random debris that has conveniently never been there before.

Oh dear. Thats a good point thought: what did the stats think I died to?

Apparently: a Banshee, even though there ARE no banshees on that wave. The previous wave was all dead, and the next wave doesn't come in until the 4 seraphs are dead!

@Michael: It obviously sounds like you have PoA down bar some issues with the hunters etc. The hunters themselves are a troublesome pair. I'd advise shooting out the window before hopping on the roof as if you do it up there you're just rousing the hunters attention towards yourself. That and I'd suggest that as soon as Emile's engaged the pair you're on that roof and you're moving as fast as you can. If Emile has both their attention, you can effectively just race straight up, hop down and run past the pair. If one does happen to notice you though, deploy a drop shield over the window; it can take 3 fuel rod hits before breaking so you've got a few seconds to get through. And always remember, crouch first, then jump.

Thanks. That's what I've been doing and I'm still having trouble. I turned off Toggle Crouch and that made it a bit easier, but I want to perfect the jump. Should I stay crouched through my entire jump? How far away from the window should I jump? Every enemy in the game has -blam!- peripheral vision except the hunters; their peripheral vision is too good.

After I grab the six needle rifles from the skirmishers in the cave and the three from the jackals in the sword elite room, I'm very close to full ammo if not full. I think it would save some stress, because I have just enough ammo; I would prefer to have more than enough.

Also, DO NOT under any circumstances juggle weapons through loading zones. I've lost too many full DMRs before the first smelting room due to this.

And the Iron With Friends challenge...time for me to plug in two controllers and play by myself as is my custom.

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Best Regards,
The Tyrant

@General

Admittedly it looks good from a film perspective, but faster doesn't always mean better. Theoretically, if you killed the two that come out of the Corvette, then Ninja-ed the two on the console, you'd only have two left to deal with, but that's assuming you're quick enough to get to safety, of which I rarely seem to be.

*ahem* You're doing it wrong. :P

Usually, I backsmack the first elite that jumps up, then I PP and headshot the other one (I don't leave my spot, just shoot across the shield since he's predictably stuck while in mid-jump). As SOON as I kill the second elite, I drop onto the platform (no jumping) and ninja the elite on the right, then the one on the left. When I'm done with that, I'm typically looking at one of the dual-wielders through the glass on the center platform (he's standing to the left of where you were hanging out on the "rafters" if you look there from the center), so I charge up my PP, step out, fire, then step back. Once he's been hit, I step out and fire off two DMR rounds. The first finishes off his shield and the second headshots him. While this is going on, the marines have jumped down and engaged the final dual-wielder (who is on the ground level at this point, usually to the left of the center if you face the door to the hangar) and it's not too terribly difficult to either drop behind him if I'm feeling frisky, or to drop an overcharge on him from above before DMRing him to death.

So, basically, you're fairly safe once you've taken out the second console elite so long as you're mindful of staying behind the glass so the first dual-wielder doesn't have an angle on you.

In any case, this is the strategy that seemed to be the most consistently successful for me. I've still failed here from time to time, but compared to all the other strategies I've tried this one seems to net me the most success.

LNoS clearly doesn't want me to be a Conqueror. Between invisible banshees killing me through my shields, and now THIS.

Ugh. Why would Seraphs even be ALLOWED to target you while you're on foot? So lame. I even resumed from there and everything went beautifully. Landing righteous assassinationage on the General, and I would have finished in a comparable time to Michael and Gaz, dispite me taking ages in the sabre section :(

On the plus side I have Gold Flawless Cowboy now, yay!

omg i hate this level...

Actually I take that back. I think the beach section is utterly pointless and I think the Sabre section is frustrating and a waste of time. I like the Corvette. Well, after the comms room anyway. But that part of the level is too short!

LOL.
Hunter in a "X" is an inside joke between Gazas and I. It origninated on The Storm Co-op Mythic, where he said "Imagine if a Hunter in a Hornet splattered us". As we were progressing into the mission, we'd just downed the Scarab. I was walking back up to the catwalk heading to the door to the next area. And a Hornet exploded and splattered me, hence where the joke came from.

Yes! Two direct hits and I'm out. Viewing the film, they have surprisingly little splash damage.

I don't even notice the Seraphs and Sabres flying around when I'm on the Corvette. Neither did I. At first I thought a ranger had someone snuck out up there without me knowing, then I thought the shots from the Corvette's guns had somehow targetted me through the belly of the ship. Only when I viewed the film did I see they came from a Seraph.

Well it definitely looked like a Seraph.

EDIT: I'm just looking over my stats and I don't see an entry for 'killed by Seraph.' Its possible the seraph guns count as banshees when they kill you, even if when killed, the body counts as a seraph.

Lol, got a bunch of kills with 'unknown' though. Guess what that is ;)

Easier said than done.

I want to finish this mission more than you know and take a break from this game. Black Ops and Dead Rising 2 just have to wait!

LOL, I'm starting to think Mythic is ruining the game for me. Long Night of Solace was my favorite mission before I started, not anymore. Then it was Pillar of Autumn; it still is, but I'm getting really sick of it.

If Jun is still in the Falcon then you cannot bring it down. Unfortunately, with blind on there is no way to tell (although if you plasma burst him he does make some sort of "WTF" remark but it is hard to hear).

I've tried repeately to bring down the falcon but Jun is always in it...perhaps there is some other game trigger or behavior that prevents him from being in the vehicle.

That explains something that confused me the other day then. I was standing by the Longsword and I felt myself take damage and I was looking around confused.

You could always take a break. I took about a week off with Fable III, exiting my sessions at times to do some Quad-Mythic.

Vince, what does sod off mean?

I suppose you could say the meaning is more or less the same as "piss off" or "screw you", the latter of which is more common slang in America. Retaliatory term used in annoyance with someone; granted I mistook your joke as sarcasm.

"Sod off" really isn't something you hear in America, much the same as you don't hear other things that would be considered British slang. As for why I said it (as if anyone cares), I'm not that far removed from England. I still consider myself to be British to a degree, although it has been 3 generations...

But enough prattle. Random question that has no bearing to Mythic, but is just a preference. Marines or Troopers, which do you prefer dialogue wise? I miss some of the things I'd hear Marines say, one of my favorites being "You pissed me off, and now you're dead!"

Well, you can call me: Noble 4! :D

Film.

Finally no random stuff killing me, finally the spawning in the Bridge is nice to me and there are no grunts in front of the Globe; allowing me to perfectly stealth kill the whole room! Managed to stealth the turret control room as well (though had to kill a trooper to do it, sorry!): the second Ultra (the one not on the controls) is almost invariably just under the ledge in between the first two pillars. Some careful edge-peeking and you can catch him looking the other way. Then the one on the controls is another easy assassination.

In the comms room, I used a combination of the strategy I mentioned earlier with the standard 'drop down on the two guys on the controls and bash them early' strategy. After taking out the two that come through the force-field, I immediately dropped down and took those two out, instead of waiting for the troopers to bring them down to the ground level. Then I sprinted for the drop shield and assumed the position I showed you guys. They were distracted by the troopers for a while, but once they came up it was simple with only 2 left.

Oh, and did I mention my film time is only 52:26? :D

Credits go to the other LNoS completers: who informed most of my route.

And with that, I'm 9/9 and a Reach Mythic Conqueror!

Stats and films dump:

Winter Contingency (stats, film) - 33,263 - 24:28
ONI: Sword Base (stats, film) - 114,785 - 57:13
Nightfall (stats, film) - 9,730 - 05:39
Tip of the Spear (original) (stats, film) - 79,927 - 47:10
Long Night of Solace (stats, film) - 214,184 - 52:26
Exodus (stats, film) - 79,532 - 57:29
New Alexandria (stats, film) - 115,248 - 48:33
The Package (stats, film) - 174,539 - 58:47
Pillar of Autumn (stats, film) - 109,193 - 1:23:06

Note: times are the length of the films. I can't be bothered to manually time these when I know most of them are slower than other peoples, and 8/9 aren't speedruns anyway.

CONGRATS RC!!!!

Never really paid attention to them anymore in Reach, I might hear some stuff but nothing I ever notice. A little disappointing, it's would've been great if we had serious lines without IWHBYD and super ridiculous lines (that we hear often) with it.

Posted by: Vincent K
granted I mistook your joke as sarcasm.
Granted you took it a little hard, sarcasm or not. I don't know, maybe you should try to up your threshold? Because the only reason I'd expect a comment like that would be if I was already an annoyance to you, and right now, from the bottom of my heart, it's the other way around. Now I really didn't intend for it to look like sarcasm, all I did was trying to cheer Dark up, but quite frankly it sounded even funnier when reading it as sarcasm, that seemingly made you react to it as if I insulted you. If I'd want to annoy you, I wouldn't post sarcasm in that cute and funny little way I just did, had it been sarcasm that is, because HAD IT BEEN, I'd expect a laugh from you, which I didn't get, nor a smiley. Now if an excuse to that is "I'm a rather serious person" (which you told me once after I made a joke, where you also told me to watch my words), I guess I'll have to accept that, but sadly, serious people in a topic like this (where major arguments don't occur all that often), aren't interesting at all. It just doesn't do it for me. I don't like it when people type the words "*Sigh*" and then explain something after I question his tactic in Mythic. That's fine if you do it to trolls and idiots. I'm neither of those things. It leaves me with a gamertag that posts texts on the forums, with games played in Halo, with a personality I can't get attached to, specially with the weird and sudden hostility he shows from time to time.
