Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Does mythic have to be solo as well or can it be a team?

You can do it as a team, but don't mistake Team Mythic for CLASO, which most people often do. If you do it as a team, everyone has to survive from start to finish without dying (even though the Iron skull would normally just revert you back to the last checkpoint upon a teammate's death, you have to manually restart the mission every time someone dies).

In my opinion, doing it solo is easier since you only have to account for your own mistakes.

So, it may be the easiest mission, but i've officially begun my Mythic journey, and while I have no delusions about making the hall of fame, I hope to make it on the list of conquerors one day.

Nightfall

Also, had a hilarious SNAFU when I botched the assassination on the last elite, but somehow managed to save it.

Welcome to the journey!

I'm downloading your video, only because I cannot even complete Nightfall on Legendary... So I'm using your video as a guide. :D

4 down, 5 more to go. Really not looking forward to LNoS.

Goddamn, got past the wraiths finally, beat my way into the actual sword base with ease, was trying to do the skip jump, but this elite kept bothering me. Try to kill him, get stuck because I dodge the wrong way. Brilliant. There goes an hour and a half.

When the dust settles, you will learn what true terror is.

Well, after a few attempts at PoA today, I think the mission won't be as bad as I expected. On my third or fourth attempt I made it all the way to the FRG and Hammer chieftains on the Landing Pad, and managed to take out the hammer when he charged me. Didn't realize the FRG would shoot through that narrow slit in the sheet metal though and took one to the face while crouching for a better angle at the FRG chieftain... Lesson learned.

Other than the Landing Pad and, I imagine, the zealots at the end, the smelting room is the only problem area, I can't seem to get the elites to stand still very easily, and its too iffy to assassinate them (tried it once, got two of them down in seconds but the concussion rifle elite turned around and blasted me into oblivion).

I'm on that one now. Believe it or not, everything up until the Comms room is relatively easy. Though I have a "safe spot" in the Comms room, I need to find a way to effectively kill things from that spot. I do have a plan, but I may need General K. to assist me in perfecting my ninja skills against the two control center Elites. You know, General, because I'm a newb :-P

It's actually one of the shorter ones once you get used to it. Are you dying at the Spire or between the Spire and the crash site?

I hear the Mass Driver has been giving people problems too. Worst of all it's at the very end of the mission. I can see lots of FML moments happening throughout the community during that segment.

The first step to correcting a problem is admitting you have one. ;)

Yeah, I'm planning on using hologram to buy me an extra second or two, seems to be the standard approach anyway... I'm not terribly worried about it though. If I can get to the mass driver, then I won't mind a few slip-ups since I'll know I can get there again.

The real problem with the mass driver section is the banshees. 1 hit from a fuel rod and it's an insta-kill. That's what killed me on both times before I eventually got it. The phantoms may pose a large threat but all you have to worry about is getting hit in the cockpit; that's what causes the most damage.

Also, deploying the hologram to get the phantom's attention isn't necessary but it does help. It can buy you 1 or 2 seconds whilst you're hopping into the cockpit of the driver, after that the phantoms and banshees will specifically target you, not you hologram.

Would it be better just to try and target everything like you normally would? Or is that riskier?

Out of curiousity, how many points do you net killing a phantom with all skulls on?

Yeah, I figured that it wouldn't make a HUGE difference, but every little advantage I can get should help.

I got 11,900 points for the one I killed using a Wraith on The Package.

For the Falcon, make sure you stay on the right side instead of the left. On the left you'll be dealing with fuel rod and concussion spam.

For the part right before, if you're having trouble with the Wraiths, you can actually cause them to fall off the cliff in advance via the trick in my Legendary guide which is also in my file share side by side with the Mythic variant. Thanks to Shadow for the find.

As for the Spire, it depends on what's killing you. If it's the top of the tower you're having trouble with, make sure you have a jet pack and DMR. Stay outside the tower while using the DMR against the Grunts, and when the Ultra charges with his sword, jet-pack off the ledge which will normally cause the Elite to fall.

I tried it in a practice run once. It's more or less a death sentence as phantoms and banshees keep spawning infinitely until the cruiser is dead and you're gonna be getting hit a lot from the phantoms that fly over your head. If you hide however, a max of 4 phantoms and I think 2/3 banshees is all that will stay around, so it's definately the lesser of two evils.

Congrats, RC! I wanted you to know that I've used many of your runs in formulating my own. I think you find great ways of doing missions safely but efficiently.

Can't wait until Fall Break next week to really crank down and get Mythic done. I've paused at 4/9, practiced LNoS (i hate comms room!), and will have fun with the rest of the missions.

There's a health pack by a downed Falcon in that area if you need it.

Nice job RC Master! You deserve fourth; you were much more committed to this than I was. That's very impressive that you were a level behind me and then to have you take fourth. Congratulations! You even beat my time!

Thanks! The time thing was lucky though: I managed to stealth both cannon control and the bridge, then just ran past cannon control 2. Then in the Pelican, the elites fortunately didn't give me too much trouble.

What mission did you find harder, PoA or LNoS? I ask because the only difficult mission I have left is PoA.

LNoS was frustrating. If you're lucky (no grunts in front of the globe! yay!), its not HARDER, just annoying to iterate on because of unskippable cutscenes and the beach and the long sabre section.

PoA requires a longer input of actual killage and requires a few sections where you're very, very close to dying.

Main tip for PoA is practice. You don't want to get to the landing pad (or the zealots, or the mac...) for the first time and fail because you've never been there before.

I want to complete the campaign next, but I don't want to be Noble 5, Jorge.

Lol, I was only joke. Don't need to change your name :P

I wasn't asking for much; I just wanted Jorge to maybe choke on some tears before he threw Six out the window, but he showed no human emotions.
Eh. He's a Spartan II, trained since age 6 to fight and kill. His eventual death in the line of duty is practically a certainty. What do you think his throwing his helmet on the ground meant? He knows its over, gonna have to be him or six. And he'd rather it be him. To 'return the favour' as he says.

RC Master, now that you've finished the campaign, how does it feel? Does it feel good?
Oh, it feels...

Wait...don't tell me. I want to find out on my own. This weekend.
Ok. Good luck!

Yes, I die either during my continous revanent bombing, the falcon canton part, or around and on the spire

This is why I reccomend the Ghost instead. And you do have full shields before the Falcon right? (tip: the health pack is next to the downed falcon near the cliff edge, next to the river, and plenty of PPs in the area). What side are you using? I, personally, reccomend the left, since you have more open area to hit the enemies ASAP. Fuel Rod? no problem. Elites? Bouncin' high!

Practice on any difficulty with the Mythic/blind skulls on. Theres a small area you can target which will always work (which is NOT the centre of the glassing port, and it seems iffy that its in the centre of the big swirly reticle they give you either). Pick your land-mark on the Cruiser and aim exactly for it.

Posted by: Tyrant122312
Would it be better just to try and target everything like you normally would? Or is that riskier?

At the mass driver? You will die. There is zero possibility of survival on Mythic.

Congrats, RC! I wanted you to know that I've used many of your runs in formulating my own. I think you find great ways of doing missions safely but efficiently.

Thanks, and you're welcome! Its all selfish in the first instance anyway. Most of my runs are amalgamations of what other people have discovered, with a few tricks of my own here and there, to be fair.

Also: A fileset of all my Mythic runs. Since they're finally in that fileset.

And finally... Tyrant? Is THIS the run you were going to use for your Legendary guide? What were you doing at the top of the spire? Elites are SOO easy to kill on Legendary. Grabbing a PP (preferably) or a Needler from that Grunt on the way up the slope would have made short work of him. Jetpack or not.

Oh, and the 'High Speed' version :P

GT: The Depleted

Congrats, RC!

Does anybody know why sometimes both elites in Cannon Control will be roaming the first time you go through to the Bridge - instead of one manning the console and the other sitting below the ledge? 'cus that just messed me up! Does he get off there after Savanna is taken down?
