Victory.
WOOT! Well done! :)
Pillar of the GODAMNED Autumn Who said it couldn't be done under an hour? :)
I said you'd really have to push it to do it... so, double well done!
Thanks for not telling me, RC Master, but I think it would be hard to describe. At least for me; maybe your superior linguistic skills would be sufficient to convey the epicness felt.
Lol. I'm a computer scientist (and not a particularly dilligent one at that) I doubt my linguistic skills are any better than yours. :)
I don't think Halo made by Bungie will be that good
Not by Bungie right?

SLASO Challenges for Weekly Challenge. Yay
I'm fairly certain that these (like the Office of Not Dying) will be susceptible to the save&quit Iron work-around. Which makes them far less cool, and probably worth far less cR :(
Unless I decide to go for a better time/score, I'll be exploiting the glitch that bungie hasn't fixed in 2 subsequent games since it first emerged...
*aside: actually, did this work in Halo 2?

Does being in the pelican turret protect you from enemy fire(damage)?
Yes. Completely.
Uggh. The comm room is actually pretty difficult
Pretty much everyone has invented their own variant of a tactic for this room. So different things will work, but there isn't a consensus on what the best one is.
Speaking of records, what's the fastest nightfall mythic time?
AFAIK: 3:44, gametime, not what the PGCR says. That lies.
I've killed two of the elites that jump out at you, but a marine fell in, alerting the elites working on the computer things. I also somehow managed for Holland to say that the comms is down, and now another elite+grunts came in. I'm stuck up top unsure what to do
In that situation: a variation of this might still work. Though drop straight down onto the orange walk-ways; that'll get you closer to the drop-shield quicker.
The Holland thing is a time-out. He'll either say it after all the Rangers are dead, or after a certain time. Whichever is sooner.

In the future, please note that while the intent to be offensive may not be there on your end, I generally respond to requests/suggestions in the way I receive them. Please watch the tone when you post as I tend to take polite-ness more seriously.
I was merely trying to be informative. I can't remember what we were discussing 5 pages ago, much less 30+ pages ago. I accepted that these things might simply have been forgotten.
Engaging the General is far from difficult and helps prevent your Wraith from getting destroyed by the plasma launcher (which as happened before). I don't see the issue here. Free points.
Let me explain myself then: I find melee-dancing with Elites to be dangerous. At best, I get lucky and manage it. At worst, its another restart. I often land assassinations I didn't think I would get, and miss ones I was sure I would get. Hell, I find trying to assassinate just one lone Elite while they're completely distracted by Noble team to be dangerous!
As an example for the former: There have been a string of attempts at LNoS in the past couple of weeks where I simply failed to assassinate that Elite in the corridor of the base. Most of those attemps ended with an Elite hoof to my face and another journey to to main menu. A scarce few ended in Noble team coming in and saving me.
This Elite even starts unaware!
As an example of the latter: I've had many runs on various levels ended by an Elite who side-stepped at the last moment. On LNoS, that Ultra by the gate to the base has side-stepped and killed me, or damaged me with his concussion rifle many times while I've been attempting to assassinate him.
Thinking about it now: I might actually advocate taking out the Wraith on the platform, or one of the first grunts, to secure a PP to use against said Ultra.
As a secondary example: one of my earlier attempts at LNoS involved a tactic similar to what (I believe) Michael did: cutting in from behind the first group of enemies on the beach and landing some assassinations. Approaching two Elites, I intended to assassinate one of them, but at the last second, they moved and my melee sent me forwards towards one, leaving the other directly behind me. Two hits from the Elite later and my attempt was over.
To be clear: I was not presenting it as 'this way is much better and you should definitely change your guide right now to reflect this'. I was offering it as an alternative.
I don't know: maybe I just suck with assassinating Elites and everyone else lands them every single time. But for the possibility that there exists a person out there who, like me, wants to complete Mythic but isn't that good with assassinating Elites, and would rather not risk such an attempt against a fully aware General, mid-way through the mission, I thought it might be worth it to include a secondary option.
Also: the deload trick in sword base was, as far as I know, discovered by slYnki on HIH. He couldn't care less about Mythic!
I never gave credit to anyone on this. If you recall, this was something I stumbled upon by myself without any help from the community.
*shrugs* I did describe it in the thread. I for one am affected by everything I read here but, maybe you didn't read it.
Example: they way I did the comms room of LNoS, I discovered that as a direct result of you saying you'd found a much safer strategy for that area, and me loading up RPB and wondering what it could be.
Based on some of your previous posts (dating back the ODST guide), you tend to come off as your way being the best way, the only way, and that I'm doing it wrong.
Well that isn't the intention, and I certainly don't think that (the bit in bold anyway).
But if I use a method in my run, or suggest a particular method, most often its because I do believe it to be the best way. 'Best', in terms of Mythic, usually meaning a combination of ease, safety, with a bit of speed so as not to bore one to death.
I (like to think I) hold beliefs for a good reason. If I don't have a good reason, then I don't see the value in holding that particular belief in the first place. Isn't everyone the same?
Of course, that not to say that my current beliefs are infallible, the opposite in fact. My beliefs being dead wrong about something has been shown to me time and time again in all aspects of my life. Either for a failure of logic, of creativity, or a lack of knowledge. In these instances I am quite happy to update my beliefs when I realise or am shown the error of my ways. In fact I welcome it: selfishly, easier strategies on Mythic makes it easier for me too!
I could produce a full-length post detailing the many about-turns I have taken on various strategies over the course of the last 2 months with regards to Mythic. But I'll use this one: Club Errera and the easter egg switches. When I first did New Alexandria, I didn't even know these switches existed. I quickly realised that there isn't enough ammo to take out all the hunters, and I hadn't had much success with melee-dancing with hunters either, so I needed a way to either bypass them completely, or thin them out a little so I can get past.
One strategy I experimented with right at the very begining was using a jetpack to shoot straight down the middle and get in/out very quickly. You got shot at the entire way, but it was quick, and it meant you didn't have to expend ammo on the hunters. Still dangerous though.
Once I realised there was a Camo in Reflection, that altered my entire perception of the mission. Clearly though, at least one Hunter would need to be taken out since that camo wasn't that good. This strategy become what I used, since I didn't know of any better way.
Soon after, people mentioned the easter egg switches. I tried it, just with one switch, and couldn't reasonably see a way to take out all those FRG grunts without getting -blam!- up. Besides, the camo method was safe, one of the top priorities.
When I finally read a post stating in simple terms how to do it; one at the hospital first, then the one on top of the Vyrant tower, and I tried it for myself and it worked: wow! Just 3 brutes to deal with! It even de-loads the Brutes/Jackals/Grunts waiting on the landing pad, so you can land right away: Wonga!
As a result of this I would now say that: using the easter eggs switches is the best way. Thats not cockiness, thats just what my experience tells me.
if something made it into the guide (or didn't), then typically there is a reason behind it.
For sure. But when I don't know what that reason is, it becomes difficult to just sit on my hands when I know of a strategy that might be just as good if not better. Maybe you've carefully considered and eliminated it from inclusion for some reason I am no privvy to, or referencing above: that reason may just be because you didn't know or had forgotten.
Point is: I don't know either way when no other strategies are mentioned or presented in the guide.
A number of people are given the chance to view these runs and guides before they actually go live to help better cement the tactics.
So I'm reading this as "don't wait until after I've already published to make suggestions". I can roll with that. How much lead time do you want?
