BTW. I noticed a few typos and stuff in some of the text of the guide. Are you aware, or do you want me to find it again and PM you?

Honestly, it's pure luck that my video is under an hour.

Hmm, whats my new target then? 45 minutes? :P

If Bungie is selling their cash cow,
Well, MS have owned Halo since 2001 when they bought out Bungie and all the IP they owned at the time. MS keeping Halo was part of the deal to let Bungie go independant again.

So are you telling me that the "Office of Not Dying" and "Mostly at Night" challenges can be circumvented by saving and quitting?
So I've heard. But I've no reason to suspect these people are lying, and the stats (apart from a low number of points) are indistinguishable from a full-level playthrough.

If it's not too much trouble, could one of the admins in the "The Quest for SLASO" group promote me to "Mythic Master"? Thanks.
Oh thats a good point... *checks* YAY! Already changed :)

I just read the weekly update. SLASO challenges? God damn it...

Good news community! I just came out of retirement!

The NFL Quarterback? No wonder I didn't get it...

So for the comm room, you should have a shield (from the launch site) a sword, and PP. Then you'd slash the guys that jump up, fall down to get the guys on the computers, then get behind that one box; then slash them as they come up

Thats basically what I did, yes. I kept sprint though, since there is a drop shield when you get there, and it allows you to get around the circumference of the shield quick, since the second ranger can come up really quick, and it allows you to GTFO out of the centre section asap.
Also, use the Dropsheild if one decides to come from the sides as well.

Disclaimer: Thats what I had the most success with. Here is what Tyrant is currently doing. Others still have brought a DMR/Needle Rifle and a Sword, done the same up until after swording the two Elites on the consoles, and then dropped down and picked up one of the PPs from the dead grunts.

So I read the mythic guide, well part of it but I'm gonna start the challenge today. And I wanna know if I have it right.

My settings for campaign are:

All Primary skulls on
All secondary skulls on
Free for all scoring
Difficulty: legendary
Noble Actual

Am I missing anything?

Oh and if I die during a mission, does that render the challenge invalid or is dieing allowed?

And what about saves? Can I save?

It all seems fine. However you'll want to start on Winter Contingency, no point watching the first cutscene.

If you die, save and quit. Reset the save however you want, by re-selecting the scoring or changing missions.

Basically, you must play through each mission start to finish (in any order) with no deaths.

Noble Actual is a cut-scene lmao. But you can take the 9 proper missions in any order you wish.

Oh and if I die during a mission, does that render the challenge invalid or is dieing allowed?
You can die. Put you must not circumvent the Iron skull. Either let it reset you back to the start of the mission (which will add your failed attempt to your saved film), or go back to the main menu and start again from the start of the mission manually. The latter is reccomended.

And what about saves? Can I save?
No. As this circumvents the Iron skull. Each mission must be done in one sitting. Well, you may pause and go do stuff, but thats it.

Do you have an Xbox 360 harddrive? You'll need it to save the saved films of your successful attempts. Otherwise there is no proof. So, you could still do it for self-satisfaction only, but you couldn't be put on the list of conquerors.

EDIT: eep. dark said basically the same thing. Ah well :P

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Best Regards,
The Tyrant

Thanks, gentlemen.

And best of luck on your quest, Blom :-)

Much obligued :-) As with everyone else, you wouldn't be on my FL if I didn't have a deep respect for you and your opinion :-)

BTW. I noticed a few typos and stuff in some of the text of the guide. Are you aware, or do you want me to find it again and PM you?

*Shrugs*

Not really a big deal. Like I said, other people do look at the stuff before it goes live, and even then the typos still slip by from time to time (in all the guides, in fact). I'm gonna cut Louis a break and leave well enough alone for now, but thanks for offering :-)

Just beat Winter Contingency, first try. <3

This Mythic/SLASO thing is kind of a fun challenge, although I'm sure there will be moments where I want to beat myself to death with the controller.

Gratz! And welcome to the journey :-)

All 13 skulls, so yes, that means Blind too.

Eleventh Halo 3: ODST Mythic Conqueror
Fifth Halo: Reach Mythic Conqueror

I've been watching your video guides for entertainment, Tyrant. You've gotten a lot funnier! I still cringe when you use "literally" incorrectly. Still, it's good; nice job! I can't wait to see how you break POA and LNOS down for the mainstream gamer.

That reminds me. For Halo 3 Mythic veterans, there's a really easy way to stroke your ego. In the Halo 3 official strategy guide, there's this section in the end that shows "skull recommendations" for levels. It makes you feel really good about yourself because it says stuff like, I quote: "Level: Tsavo Highway. Iron: It's just about possible on Heroic, but any sane individual wouldn't even want to think about attempting an Iron playthrough on Legendary." and for The Storm, "Iron: As usual, you have almost no hope on Legendary." This is just a taste of what they say. It's even more laughable when they start to talk about skulls on Cortana e.g "Iron: We would rather set fire to our feet and dance a tango than bother with an attempt on Legendary."

  • 11.13.2010 3:17 PM PDT

I almost beat ONI yesterday, I figured I"d be able to get it today since there was pretty much nothing left I hadn't beaten.

I actually had to rely on that guide when I first got Halo 3 (I was actually that bad, I couldn't even use two sticks independently of each other). Now I just use it for the overhead shots of the Campaign missions and the humorous observations that you pointed out. The Cortana one actually made me laugh when I read it again after completing Mythic.
I'd say the Reach guide would be similar but it's by BradyGames, not Piggyback... And Brady are neither funny nor have a clue what they're writing about most of the time. At least piggyback offered a solid Legendary guide that worked.

Anyhow, with regards to my own Mythic quest I'm feelign particularly unmotivated after beating LNoS... Any idea why? I'd be expecting to feel full of renewed vigour after beating that mission. :-(

  • 11.13.2010 4:55 PM PDT

No black and white in the blue.

LOL @ Khazard's Brett Favre reference. I love the guy and I wish he could keep playing forever, but I actually believe him about being done after this year (sad face). I'm trying to think of a part of his body that isn't injured right now, and I'm utterly failing. For those of you who didn't get it, Khazard was comparing Michael's quick "coming out of retirement" to how Brett Favre has been talking about retiring for some 3 or 4 years but is still playing.

I'm the same way right now. After 10 or so failed attempts at Exodus, I figured I'd take a break for a couple days. Now I'll probably end up beating the Black Ops campaign before I touch Reach's again. I only have 3 missions to go, but I too am feeling quite unmotivated.....

How long have you guys known about skipping the enemies at the end of Sword Base? If I'd known that, I probably could have finished it weeks ago...

Take a break. Play something you want to play. The world will still be there. I felt the same way during The Package and Pillar of Autumn. I toughed it out, because I was almost done, but you're not that close to being done. If you're not scared of your Halo skills atrophying, take a break.

I wouldn't say something like this so off topic if it wasn't important, but Wicked is actually really, really good; I just saw it now. If you get the chance, stop playing Halo for three hours and go see it. Even if you haven't read any of the books or even seen the movies, you'll like it. I promise. It was awesome, despite the fact I was sitting next to a huge speaker which obstructed half the stage.

So, if you care to find me, look to the western sky!

#1 Legendary ODST Firefight Highscore

[UNINTELLIGIBLE > INSUBORDINATION(?)]

Man, I see what you mean when I said I would totally despise LNoS (PoA aswell) Its really bugging me how the first part of the mission takes about 25 MINUTES. Man, I wish the hard stuff came first, then the dragging, uneventful, boringly long stuff that generally a breeze would come last.
Dang comm room....

After the comms room, its a breeze though. Just one difficult area or two if the 4 elites of the apocalypse mess up the turret.

About my journey, New Alexandria down makes it 7/9.
About 3 hours work. RC's guide helped a lot. Damn banshees were a pain though. And my run was quite long due to the fact I seont 30 minutes killing a single hunter with plasma pistols (He survived 7 whole ones before I just gave up and ran past him). Hardest part were the sidemissions, as AA guns caught me off guard.

Next, the Package.

Hmm. So far I'm a mere 4/9 missions complete
LNoS is really slowing my progress down- I just hope i make the top ten

hehe. Cortana was one of the earliest missions Goatrope speedran on Legendary in H3. No deaths. 8 minutes. :P

Tsavo Highway was also one of the ones that turned into 'just go straight past everything.' Guess the guide-makers didn't realise you could get a 'hog over the gap :P

Because that mission breaks your soul. If you're doing them in order, Exodus is next, which is almost as annoying. Try the Package next; Tyrant made it pretty easy.

Well I've known about it in theory since 16th September. After viewing this run (skip to 6:35). Though I didn't fully realise its applications until when I came to actually try ONI: Sword Base more than a week later, on 26th September (bottom of page).

My apologies Tyrant; it appears Legendary Smile found the skip independantly as well.

The only thing that isn't Halo I want to play right now is Assassin's Creed Brotherhood... Unfortunately that isn't out yet.
I'm also not really a movie/theatre person, thanks for the recommendation though.

Anyway I reckon I'll just try again, it's not really a long mission, just boring at the beginning with all the suicide Grunts.

I'm glad you understood my point, which was the fact that Mythic conquerors are the ownage at Campaign while they are suckage at MM. Some of the conquerors are really good though. *Looks in mirror*
