Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Long Weekend of Mythic, folks. This mission is going down!

EDIT:

PELICAN GUN

At the end of the mission, is there any way to keep this thing from getting destroyed before hand? I've tried a number of different tactics including chucking grenades into the room and spamming the needle rifle, but nothing seems to stop the grenade spam.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Note that if the gun gets destroyed more times than not, I cannot and WILL NOT include it in the guide.

Also, please refrain from posting "I've never had that happen to me" as that doesn't contribute.

Muchas Gracias.

Ran into a snag on PoA. Im at the Hunters and Emile got knocked into the corner next to the window. Any ideas on what I can do? I am going to see if the hologram helps at all.

I dont know how to help you Tyrant. I always made sure to kill off the grunts the second I could so Ive never had the pelican gun destroyed.

Nevermind about the hunters. When I went for the hologram Emile was respawned away from the window.

Same here. Also, during at least one of my practice runs I was able to get back into the turret after getting out for a minute or so after it had been destroyed. Maybe I wouldn't have been able to get in post-destruction had I not been in it prior to destruction, but I haven't tried it.

On the topic of Tip of the Spear (previous page), I haven't seen anyone talking about jacking a Wraith at the second gun. I did it in my run, and while I haven't compared my time in that area to anyone else's, I imagine it might be a bit shorter.

It happened to me on all the runs where I made it back to the hangar save for the one I actually beat the misson lol. I'm not sure how to stop it happening though. I think the best thing to do is get in the gun at the first possible safe opportunity - when you get back into the hangar locate the Elite ASAP and if he's engaged with Jorge go for the gun!

I wonder if you could use any of the crates/other items to block it in and protect it before you leave for the Bridge. I can't remember off the top of my head if there are any lying about though. (Or if that room resets while you're doing the Bridge.)

EDIT: And good luck with the rest of PoA Trigg!

That's actually not a bad idea in regards to the crates. There actually are some in the room. The only downside I could see is the crates blocking your shots and keeping you from killing the enemies once you got in it (that is unless the cannon is powerful enough to move them).

My situation is that the gun gets nuked before I can even get through the door, so I don't have the opportunity to kill the Grunts first.

The crate option DOES sound promising though.

That's true, I pictured it with the gun being strong enough to move them - would have to test it out.

I tested out the crate method on normal and it could work. The pelican gun is strong enough to send the crates flying and the crate I moved next to the gun didnt despawn after leaving the landing bay to finish the rest of the mission. All that left is to figure out if it will block the gun from being destroyed.

Do you have a run or screenshot of you using that ledge? Im interested in redoing some of my runs after PoA so it would be nice to know exactly where on the ledge you are talking about.

I'll do you one better: I'll give you a video. 11 skulls. 1 death. 20 minutes.

Be quick. Thats about as much as I can offer. As soon as I got in sight of the room I would start firing at anything in sight my NR. Then I would go right, behind that ridge where the weapons are, grab a healthpack possibly, and then you can pop a drop shield just before you get there to give yourself some extra time. Sometimes the Ultra Elite hangs that side as well, so you have to wait a little for him to move away.

In my experience, it didn't get destroyed more often than not, I had only 1 out of perhaps 5 runs that I took to the hanger (with save+quit) where the gun was destroyed. Perhaps thats simply luck, perhaps you're having bad luck.

I can't remember: can you definitely not get into it the first time if its already destroyed? As long as a new wave doesn't come in, you can certainly get in and out of it as often as you like after you've already got in it once.

Oh: and you can get in it from either side, I saw a couple of videos where people were going all the way around to the far side. Simply align youself with this little black, downward pointing triangle on the side of the nose, crouch, walk into it and press x.

The main issue with that is being able to successfully cross the wide open area in front of the Wraith without it destroying you. The Wraith IS pretty -blam!-in' once you get it though of course: you can take out the Tyrant gun in one shot through the door!

The Wraith definitely pwns the gun and its defenders pretty easily, and the issue you present isn't that difficult to overcome. In fact, it only took me a few tries to get it down. I used the Revenant from the exit of the BXR facility to kill most of the Grunts and Jackals on the right (after most are dead, the remaining few retreat to their buddies at the left Wraith). It'd probably be faster to DMR/NR them (at least the Grunts), but I finished the mission before taking the time to try it. I thought using the Revenant would make it easier to avoid the Wraith mortars, but it's probably not much worse on foot with Sprint. After taking care of the Grunts and Jackals, I parked the Revenant directly behind (so it was in contact with) the rock in front of the Wraith (where most of the Grunts and Jackals were hanging out). A quick pop-shot to kill the gunner and a stafe back behind the rock to avoid the mortar. Sometimes the Wraith would try to shoot me through the rock on its own, but I found that showing my head was enough to get it to fire. After it fired at the rock, I returned to cover right behind the rock, charged my Plasma Pistol, popped out and shot the Wraith right after the mortar hit the rock (or flew overhead), then sprinted and climbed on the front. After punching off the cover, I waited until the Wraith faced away from the cliff before getting off, 'cause once you get off, it boosts right away (avoiding it takes essentially no effort), leaving itself open for you jump back on the front and PP+headshot the driver. While you're on and near the Wraith, it's important to be wary of the other Wraith. I don't recall whether or not it shot at me when I was on the Wraith, but it did kill me on one occasion as I danced with the Wraith after punching the cover off (this was before I realized how easy the dance was). During the run on my file share, I gave it quick glances after punching off the cover and after getting back on to finish the driver. Next time I'm on Reach, I'll see about splicing a video together.

What's your typical pace at this point? Personally I found that it worked so long as I was quick, the biggest threat is an unaware enemy so a quick backsmack whilst running will net you some shields if necessary and a dead Grunt or Elite before you hop in the gun.
Otherwise the boxes idea would work, and the gun is definitely capable of moving them; you can launch those things right across the hangar with just a glancing shot.

Hmmm... in that case here's my advice for that area. You can use the concussion rifles from the cannon room to move the crates in the hangar in front of the cannon. At the very least I would think it could buy you some time.

While it may be a rare instance for some, I think we can all agree that it would suck to get to that point in the mission, think you've got it in the bag, and then have it blown up simply because you weren't fast enough.

Personally, I'd rather take my time to clear the room, and THEN go for the gun to deal with the final waves.

Im in need of help. Ive cleared the first smelting room, but Emile got knocked off the ledge. What do I need to do to get him back up top to distract the hunters?

BTW Tyrant. Once you're in the cannon room, you cant go back to the landing bay so you cant use those concussion rifles. Fortunately there are 2 crates with them in the landing bay once Jorge lands. One in front of the center door that opens once Jorge lands and one on the top right platform opposite of where the focus rifle rangers are.

In LNoS: At some point after moving down to cannon control, the door at the top of the ramp into the hanger is locked. But I think there is a box of concussion rifles in the hanger somewhere...

I don't know if you can :/

Only advice is to either a: kill the hunters (AR + Holo maybe?) or simply make a break for it.

You seem to be getting stuck there quite often, so it might be an idea to drag a Laser with you so you can kill one and make it less dangerous to run past should you lose Emile again.

Actually, Ive only recently been getting stuck there and its only the third time. Doesnt matter though. I managed to get past there by drawing the Hunters as far away from the door as possible then ran like hell.

Im on the landing pad right now but I can go back to the room that leads to the pad. Does anyone know if going back there will despawn my weapons near the pad? Im curious as I have spare ammo for both my NR and DMR back there and it would be a little safer to run back there instead of going for the hidden crate.

I've come to learn that when in doubt, count on the despawn. This is a feature that seems to be very dominant in the game, and I'm disgusted with it. I can't imagine that there's so much necessary crap in there that the game needs it. I personally think the cons outweigh the pros on this one.

I tried it and my PP didnt despawn from it. Whoever, they did the second I initiated the second wave and I nearly crapped myself since the Chieftans were coming. Thank god I found a PP at the bottom of the stairs. I just took out the hammer chieftan and Im in good position to tackle the fuel rod one.

[UNINTELLIGIBLE > INSUBORDINATION(?)]

fOr the turret part, ( on practice runs) I generally take an immediate right out of the door. Normally I don't shoot at enemies, as this slows you down. Run behind the barrier and then jump over the sloped part. Assassinate any enemies in your path(most, if not all enemies will be concentrated on Jorge. Grunts are high priority targets, because of their grenades. Once you get to the pelican, activate your shield to prevent you and the turret from dieing. Hop in and blast away.

I finally completed PoA and Reach on Mythic difficulty.

Winter Contingency
Oni: Sword Base
Nightfall
Tip of the Spear
Long Night of Solace
Exodus
New Alexandria
The Package
Pillar of Autumn

Im surprised I beat PoA in that run. I had Emile fall off the level before the Hunters, almost got killed by the Hunters, and had 2 PP despawn right as the 2nd wave began at the landing pad.

Good luck to the rest of you who havent completed it yet.

Thanks RC and Archer. The run would have been a lot fast if I didnt have the screw ups I had. I wasted 15 minutes trying to kill the hunters, 5 minutes on the spec ops, 3-5 minutes juggling weapons to the first smelting room, and 10 minutes to despawn the enemies in phase 2 area of Boneyard. But hell, I completed it and that's all that matters.
