Love what you did with the updated version. If it's alright with you, I'll have a link posted directly to it in my walkthroughs.

Heh, thats sort of the intention. :)

If you'd prefer a dedicated page rather than a forum post, I've still got the HTML version so I can send that to you if you want. Plus the images are all just HTML-resized 1080ps; turns out I don't have a half decent image editor on my laptop...

Now that I have the mission down to a science (much like Coastal), I may try to clean up the run a bit. Maybe not. The only part I'm not really satisfied with is the crates towards the last bit of the mission, but that's not a huge deal.

We shall see.

[quote]Secondly, if you wall off the enemies on the return trip through the cannon room, you can shorten your run by just dealing with the Grunts that pop over the crates and leaving the rest.

Especially if you put the crates on their narrow side, you can sometimes get them all to stay in there. Then you can simply jump up on the server racks (hint: go at 45 degrees, not straight on) and run along the ledge.

No black and white in the blue.

So I Hammered the Fuel Rod Chieftain off the landing pad, but didn't get the checkpoint. So I ran around looking for enemies I'd missed and saw a lonely Jackal hanging out near the Sniper Rifle. I figured I'd run up and Hammer him too, but I got blasted halfway to Pluto by a Brute's Concussion Rifle. For god-knows-what-reason, he decided not to follow me and my Marine buddies up to the pad and just hung out somewhere around the bottom of the stairs (lazy pile of -blam!-). Still, I should've remembered that he never showed up. In fact, I don't think any of the Concussion Rifle Brutes followed us up to the pad. I'm fast-fowarding through my film to see what happened. My guess is they just got stuck or something, 'cause this is the first time this has happened to me.

God dammit. And I was so proud of myself for successfully Hammering the Chieftain... =( (wasn't very hard, tbh)

After further review, the ruling on the field is overturned. Actually, I feel like I remember someone else mentioning the spawns of the 3 Concussion Rifle Brutes and their posse (2 Jackals and a Grunt). Maybe, maybe not. I'll mention it anyway. As I was searching for leftover Covies, I basically went back the way you're supposed to come. When I got to the bottom of the stairs below where the Concussion Rifle Brutes should be, they spawned along with their buddies. The 2 closer to the bottom were responsible for slapping me into space. And as it turns out, the lonely Jackal fell to the Sniper ledge because one of the Fuel Rod Grunts hit him in the back on the top bridge. Why must the Covenant bicker amongst themselves?

Next try a civilian walks into my line of sight as I shoot at a Grunt. Seriously, why the -blam!- would you walk towards the enemy? Ugh.....

They probably think they're doomed anyway and want to end it sooner rather than later.

Speaking of stupid Exodus civilians, when you get to that elevator and kill everything so they can go down safely, they don't get in the elevator to escape. Wtf?

I forgot to mention this. It might be useful:

It's possible to one-shot engineers. I do this in my POA run. I can't really see what's happening, but it looks like the engineer's back is to me and I shoot under his helmet to hit his head.

When the dust settles, you will learn what true terror is.

Just submitted my invasion map for Forgetacular, so I should have more time now to return to Mythic. Want to improve some of my times and eventually I hope we can get back to doing quad-mythic!

For anyone that's interested, you can check out my invasion map fileset here.

Well that's stupid. They have me. Why would they worry?

Actually, that would be very plausible if the civilians actually ran at the Covies. I didn't quite say what I meant. I was referring to how the civilians should stay behind you and the Marines, but they instead run ahead and die due to their idiocy.

Interesting. You can sometimes do this to Brutes and Grunts too. Not exactly sure how it works.

Weird hitboxes? I do know that it happens easily on Grunts.

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Best Regards,
The Tyrant

The Long Night re-do has been going pretty well. I'm getting to the cannon room fairly consistantly and mainly dying either to "Mythic Luck" or getting overly reckless. I suppose one of the major bright sides to already having it conquered is no longer sweating safety nearly as much :-)

Right now I'm working on a way to keep the last Elite from the hangar from retreating to the cannon room so that the two Elited in there can be easily assassinated. While dealing with them generally isn't a big deal, it becomes a bigger problem when one of them has a concussion rifle, so being able to assassinate them both would be a nice feature.

I've tried the Sprint/Assassinate tactic for the General in the Bridge and I have to say I'm thuroughly impressed with the results. It works better than I thought it would. I think the only thing I'd like to see now is if I can juggle a dropshield their with me and pick it up post-assassination. Since there aren't any health packs in the cannon room or the bridge, it'd be nice to have that feature available. The only question is, will it despawn? It would also be nice to be able to grab Sprint again on the way out for getting back to the hangar quicker.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I had a great one with a civvy acting as a Covenant bodyguard, ran in front of me just as I went to stick a Brute...

And Tyrant last time I tried you can juggle the drop shield to the Bridge and it wont despawn. Sprint is great for getting back to the hangar too - you can just sprint back through cannon control even if your boxes aren't set up vertical and you'll be out before the grunts can climb over.

Yeah, I hope it won't grow until I get my break from school, then hopefully I can make top 10, but that's unlikely. Wouldn't care though.

Aura already posted something similar, but that method looks a little more consistent. Good find.

Actually I'd say less consistent. The only real difference in our vids is that he somehow managed to get the General stuck behind the deployable shield; something I've never seen happen and seems like it's all down to pure luck on whether or not the General will stumble that way.

Yeah I'd say both methods are random. I would just go with Aura's method, but as long as I get rid of those two Elites I'm good.

Can't say much though, I managed to do the area with Aura's method.

So I stumbled across this video...

It demonstrates that taking out the Elites stealthed when there is a grunt in front of the globe is possible. BUT, it relies on the Grunt's methane pack not exploding straight off. If it does you're done. It also relies on the General gettting stuck there which is a very rare occurance. The vast majority of the time you're going to have to deal with him patrolling around, and if he comes up to the globe while you're doing that you're also done.

You still have a chance even if the methane tank blows up, I only get busted when it happens to explode close to the enemy, but that happens more often than not. :P

Though I like the assassination method, the other two seem to work more consistantly for me. Of course, it could just be an issue of me not having the patrols down, but personally, I like dealing with this room one of two ways: either using Sprint to rush up, assassinate the General, and retreat back to the hall to deal with the rest of the bunch, OR to use the Needle Rifle to dance with the General in the event that Plan A goes sour. Like I said before, I fully intend on including the assassination method in the guide as an option for those who wish to try, but I don't plan on keeping it as a primary means of success simply because it seems to depend on the positioning of the enemies in the room.

Not to mention the fact that you may randomly get noticed in the middle of your actions sometimes.
