Quite, though it takes some adjusting to go from Reach to Halo 3 or ODST. After the Beta my mind was so set on the Reach default that I would find myself trying to melee when I'd reload, turning my visor on/off when I wanted to pick up a weapon or reload, and using a melee when I'd want to switch grenades. Didn't find myself trying to use Armor Abilities, though.
Of course, once my mind transitioned I made my speedrun of Data Hive on Mythic. I'm thinking I'll just switch on and off between Reach MM and Mythic each day. As with most things for me, it seems that even if something seems like it will be a bore, I can't help but get drawn back in to it. The Elites do tend to amuse me, so that's a plus...
Keep at it man, I was in the same situation as you for The Ark on Halo 3. I was on the verge of giving up, y'know dying twice at the end is pretty demoralizing.
You can do it buddy, just play a couple times a day, you're good enough to finish it with ease. And once you have, the satisfaction of finally doing it is incredibly amazing, probably more so because you knew that you deserved it.
During my attempts at The Ark, I was struggling to get past the first few areas, I said to myself: "C'mon [my name], you can do it". I did it the time after, and the joy was amazing.
Finishing such a task while knowing at one point you thought about giving up is one of the greatest things you can accomplish. Because through all the hardtimes and frustrating moments, you've come out victorious.
Hope my little encouraging talk helps. :D

Why isn't it fun? Has the difficulty become so extreme that it's not fun anymore? I felt that near the end of POA; this is why I stopped mythicing. I actually felt it when I was playing The Package, but I didn't think of it then.
I found Mythic PoA to be the most fun I had on Reach, hence why I call that mission The Pillar of Awesome. A truely boring mission was doing Nightfall before the Forklift skip, that skip alone is probably what got me third. I was wasting so much time on that mission it was horrible.
The difficulty is no harder than Halo 3, it's just presented differently in my opinion. In fact, I found Halo 3 to be a lot harder. I completed Reach in the time I did about 7/9 missions on Halo 3 (last two being Crow's Nest then The Ark).
Especially since I started Halo 3 towards the start of Mythic, so none of the "tricks" were discovered;
Such as the multiple Sierra 117 skips, I had to fight that whole level.
Or the skip on The Storm at the end which bypassed the final area by not loading it.
