Check out the Halo: Reach Fails of the Weak Volume 11, guys. I got a good laugh out of one of the Campaign fails involving Emile and Jun with no weapons.

Geoff's laugh makes it worth watching. :)

Mike,

I tried to cut out the ok/alrights during the latter half of Long Night just for you, bud ;-)

I don't mind them; it's just an observation.

No black and white in the blue.

MATCLAN: As Tyrant said, there are usually enough Needlers to get you past the pre-elevator stuff fairly easily. That said, I am also having trouble getting past Exodus and am probably suffering from the same subconscious expectation of greater ease. I got to the very end just yesterday having taken out all the enemies around the two gun batteries only to be blasted by a Brute Captain's Concussion Rifle as I exited my Ghost coming up the stairs near the mission-ending button. Either my Warthog barriers failed or Skirmishers aren't the only Covies that get dropped off after the second battery gets activated. I've only gotten to the Beachhead a few times (maybe 5 max). The majority of my deaths come before the elevator and during the Jetpack skip. I'm finally playing Mythic again, but I'm still kinda bleh about it.....

Hello, Community!

Hopefully if you're reading this, it's because you're interesting in kicking your campaign experience up a notch by cranking up the Legendary with all skulls activated :-) Need advice? A guide? Maybe even a friendly community to cheer you on and help guide you through the process? Then give our Mythic thread a read, and Godspeed on your Mythic journey!

Best Regards,

Mythic Exodus will go live on HBO next week. Until then, check out Legendary Exodus. I use the same tactics for the beachhead in both runs.

I know about all the Needlers, but aside from when Brutes hide behind those ATM things and their feet are still visible I don't find it all that superior to the DMR/Magnum when in the Traxus centre.

Also, not sure if anyone knew, but the first shot fired by the Needler will always be 100% accurate now, so if you pulse fire you can shoot the extremities of an enemy until he explodes.

EDIT: What I mean to say is that the level feels like it should be a cakewalk, but stuff just doesn't go right for me. It's like Cortana all over again.

When the dust settles, you will learn what true terror is.

I would say that Exodus is probably the most frustrating level in Reach. Not because of difficulty, but because of random deaths and our own overconfidence born of misconceptions. After having beaten Long Night of Solace, I seriously felt as if Exodus was a waste of my time, and because of this I failed miserably for carelessness, stupid mistakes, and sometimes just plain randomness. Even when I finally beat it I didn't feel accomplished so much as relieved that I wouldn't have to go through it again.

I actually enjoy the mission. It's not as random as I originally thoughts. For the most part, you always have the same number and type of enemy (unlike Cortana). It's just a matter of taking it slow and keeping track.

Your Warthog barriers were fine. They block off the two Chieftains. There are a few Captains I remember in the area, and I remember one of them having a Concussion Rifle, but yes, there are some additional reinforcements other than the Skirmisher trio, I believe.

That's exactly it. After LNoS I sort of just expected to motor on through to PoA.
And now I just can't bring myself to make the time to try Exodus again. I want to beat it, but for some reason I'm just feeling lazy about it. And I'm doing this thing in order; I refuse for Exodus to be my last mission.

It really kind of depends on the order of objectives you get. If you get Sinoviet you can pick up an active camo armor ability as you run out under the buggers' noses. This makes the hospital a relative breeze.

As far as the Club goes ("Vyrant Tower" I believe the marines call it) you want to hit the switch at the hospital, and then the switch on top of the club building. This will A) replace the hunters in the club with dancing grunts and brutes, and B) glitch the grunts to not attack no matter what you do. This means you only have to kill the DJ brute and the bartender brutes rather than fighting your way past four hunters.

What drives me nuts is you can't complete anything until Kat radios you and tells you to complete it. That, and following the stupid pelican. It'd be nice if you could just shoot that thing down and move on.

I'm still confused how the pelican gun works in LNOS. How do you get in? Do you crouch and push the action button, or do you just crouch? When you're done, how do you get out?

Yes, you need to crouch and hit the action button. When you're ready to exit, you just hit the action button again. Pretty much just like commandeering a stationary turret.

Pelican? You don't have to follow any pelicans. Do you mean Falcon? I.e. Buck's one?

No black and white in the blue.

Exodus, conquered. FINALLY. It's actually a pretty enjoyable mission, but I was so lackadaisical about it I got frustrated quickly. Thanks go to Tyrant's Legendary video for making me realize I could jack a Wraith at the beachhead (D'OH). Considering my affinity for doing it in previous missions, I was surprised I hadn't thought of doing so myself. The only video I'd watched before Tyrant's was Michael's, and I guess I just got stuck on clearing the beachhead quickly. My time was a bit longer than it would've been had I been successful on my last trip to the beachhead. I had to take out the Fuel Rod Chieftain at the landing pad with a Plasma Pistol and the DMR because the Captain's Hammer despawned. I actually emptied my DMR before the Chieftain was dead, but thankfully the last of my four grenades did the trick.

Next up, New Alexandria. But probably not until finals are over. *sadface*

Tyrant, is it possible to have my GT on the list changed to my new one? I changed my GT to Noons End, and it would be cool if I could have that on the list rather than my old GT (TheMoleN just got old to me). If not, I understand, but I hope the change can be made, as I do feel beating Mythic gives me that priveledge. :P

Major C.B.

I finally got around to doing this today. Well, technically last night. I tried Nightfall a few times to no avail. Then, woke up, popped in Reach, and finished Nightfall on my first try. Decided I was feeling bold, and continued to Winter Contingency, which isn't hard either. Got it on my first try. Feeling ever more emboldened, I tried Tip of the Spear, where the first battle wiped my confidence clean.

So I quit, and loaded up ONI. It took me a few tries to pass the initial battle, and when I did, even more problems. First, after I killed the first Wraith with the Target Locator, I found out I ventured just a bit too far out and the door closed, sealing off my Plasma Pistol. I was forced to, in a very risky move, wait for Kat to distract the final Wraith, then scrounge the battlefield for a Plasma Pistol. I managed to find one, and got behind the Wraith as Kat was engaging. I plasma EMP'd it on my approach, killed the gunner, and continued to melee the hatch for the headshot that would grant me the Wraith for the rest of the mission. Well, no beans. The hatch never broke, and instead, the Wraith just exploded. May as well have used the Target Locator on it...

So yes, I had to go from that point on with a Warthog. My problems there were just awesome. For one, I had to constantly betray the gunners. For two, Kat always wanted to drive. I managed a few tricks. For the AA gun section, I got out of the vehicle and crossed the body of water. This attracted Kat to the fight while I retreated back to the Warthog. I helped her lower Elite shields while she finished them off. That took about 20 minutes. We hit the switch, and a fresh Warthog comes to us. I drive off on Kat and the gunner.

We get to the Comm Array section or whatever, and my trouble is with Kat. I want to take out that Revenant, but every time I try, she obviously feels I want a ride. So I finally try pushing her off a cliff again (I did this earlier, but it failed because she "died" and respawned instantly) and to my relief, the water was shallow and she was stuck down there. So I picked off the Revenant, and the troops surrounding the building. Without Kat to distract them, the Elites were a pain, and kept ducking into the building when I'd open fire. It required a bit of kat-and-mouse and a lot more of my time, but I finally did it. Took out all of the Skirmishers with minimal effort, and activated the comms. Got my Gauss 'Hog, and I'm feeling fine.

So I killed the soldier in the gunner seat, and kept it stationary to take out two Revenants and a Ghost from my spot where they couldn't fire back. Well, I couldn't hit the Elite or Grunts, so I pulled up a little closer, and I could see the third Revenant. If it moved, I could hit it. It wasn't, though, so I took out the Elite and Grunt. Then the Revenant finally started moving. I was really getting happy, thinking I'd actually managed this without a Wraith, but I suddenly hear, "I've got the wheel." I think I was slightly shocked, because I could've reacted faster.

Kat suddenly respawned on me, took the wheel, and guess what she did. Before I even thought to evacuate the vehicle, she drove us.... Right at the Revenant. The thing took one shot at us, and I was dead.

Damn you, Kat...

No black and white in the blue.

Tough luck, dude. Sword Base took me a while too.

Keeping some plasma handy is always a good idea. I juggled a Plasma Pistol outside the doors with the Target Locator and left the Plasma Pistol on the ground in case I needed it. The only times I ever picked it up were the rare instances when the Elite rushed me as I waited for the second Wraith to turn towards Kat on the right. If you stick to the left rock wall until you get to the rock where the Grunts and Elite were hiding, the Wraith won't see you (as long as it's focusing its attention on Kat). I've never had a problem with a Wraith's hatch, nor have I heard of anyone else having that problem. Two hits and it should be off. Jump off and it'll boost forward a bit leaving itself immobile for a few seconds so you can jump back on (don't press the Action button) to kill the driver.

Props for having success with the Warthog. The few time I tried it, I utterly failed. It doesn't sound like you used the Rocket Launcher that sits on the hill Kat runs to to distract the Wraiths, though. Pro-tip: Rockets fired by Marines home in on their target (vehicles and infantry). They also have unlimited ammo and will always get in the passenger seat.

I'm not sure how to deal with the Comms Array with a Warthog, but I think Naked Eli used a Rocket-Marine Hog during his run. If you want to do it that way, check out is file share. To get to the Comms Array from the AA Gun, you can actually go back the way you came to avoid the Ghosts and infantry waiting for you around the corner. However, they don't leave after you activate the Array, and I think it's easier to deal with the Ghosts and infantry than with the Ghosts, Revenants and infantry on your way back to Sword Base. If you take care of the Ghosts and infantry after the AA Gun, you can go back to Sword Base that way, skipping the Ghosts, Revenants and infantry that block your way on the normal route.

You've made great progress considering that it doesn't seem like you watched any videos. If you're still having trouble, I suggest checking out the file shares of any regular posters in this thread. I already mentioned Eli and myself, but there are several others who have beaten Sword Base as well.

Haha. Back in my day, the first battle was a total slog. Thanks to recent advancements however, it shouldn't take you more than 35 seconds to pass. Check out Tyrant's guide for it. Bonus tip: headshot the grunts in the Shades and move up along the road to trigger the 'hog to come down. Watch for other enemies getting in the vacant shades though!

So I quit, and loaded up ONI.
In general, its better for you to just drive the 'hog yourself and let the troopers and kat inflict the majority of the damage. Giving an RL to a passenger is massively beneficial as well; they get homing rockets! Plus with you driving you don't have to worry about being driven to stupid places, you just have to coerce the AI into actually shooting at stuff.

Erm, in the mean time, you can watch some of the videos in the conquerors' fileshares of this mission. e.g. Mine, or Michael's.
