No black and white in the blue.
Stop spoiling my fun! THE SABRE WAS, STILL IS, AND ALWAYS WILL BE AWESOME!
On a more reasonable note, I never had problems with friendly fire, and I saw my friendlies take down at least one or two enemies per wave. Sure, they're not as efficient as the player, or even the rest of Noble, but they're not supposed to be, canon-wise and game-wise (other than the Arbiter and the rest of Noble, NPC friendlies have never been much help on Legendary, let alone Mythic).
I fail to see how the Falcon has any more advanced moves than the Sabre, and do you not do a lot of holding down the trigger when flying both? The Falcon's slower (obviously) and less agile. I rarely made use of the Sabre's special moves, usually opting for boosting and swerving my way to cover, of which there is plenty in the first Sabre battle (less so during the attack on the corvette, but there aren't as many enemies there and I rarely got attacked while underneath the corvette). In terms of evasive maneuverability, I think the Sabre wins easily, it just might not feel that way due to the better accuracy of the Seraphs and Banshees in Long Night of Solace compared to that of the Banshees in New Alexandria. All the Falcon can do is slowly climb or descend. If anything, I think the Banshees in New Alexandria are underpowered in terms of their maneuverability. The fact that a Falcon can outmaneuver them is kinda pathetic (that's not to say I hardly enjoyed the Falcon, because I did have a lot of fun with it). But considering just how many Banshees there are in New Alexandria, making them even a little more agile could've made that mission a lot more difficult.
While a motion tracker could make things easier in the Sabre, I feel it's wholly unnecessary and would make the mission less fun (for me, at least). Knowing the layout of the battle space is all that I think is necessary to stay on top of the Sabre battles (and there is plenty of time to do that before the first wave of enemies arrives). I was never annoyed with the field of vision. It felt more than adequate, and if you felt it wasn't, I'd attribute that to the design of the craft. They fly (and look) like atmospheric jets (save the nifty special moves), which have less than desirable fields of vision (hence the need for a backseater a la Top Gun). Something that may have prevented Bungie from including a motion tracker for the Sabre battles is the complexity of the playable space. There are so many enemies, the space is huge, and even with the addition of the height indicator, I'm not sure how useful it would be.
Also, I'm not sure how you dealt with the Sabre battles, but when I just "threw myself into the melee," I got shot up really quickly. Staying close to cover with the occasional venture out to finish a kill was what consistently worked for me.
....Wow, I really went off there. Sorry for the wall of text. I originally came here to post about my progress. I beat The Package on just my second attempt, putting me at 8/9. I love me some Wraith-jacking. I'm not sure if I'll start The Pillar of Autumn tonight or not. There's a party I could go to, but.... I dunno. We'll see.
