New Alexandra is out eh?
Can't wait for PoA.

Next on my list :-)

Not 'The Package'? Anyway, good luck on PoA - you're gonna need it. :)

The Package is already done :-P Link is in the OP. As far as written/narrated guides go, we're only up to Exodus. New Alexandria won't be out until January, and yes we're releasing them in order :-)

The narrated videos are the ones I watch. Even though I'm pretty sure that the only mission I'll ever conquer on Mythic is Noble Actual (yes, the no-play cutscene :P ), I'm still having a blast watching your videos.

Definitely the hardest mission out there. Right on par with Arrival and Start Menu ;-)

Thanks for watching! Try it though. You might surprise yourself :-)

Before I jump into a mission, how have people been dealing with the Fuel Rod Chieftain? It seems like if anyone would give me trouble at the landing pad, it would be him.

Funny enough, I've never actually died to him. I only made it to the landing pad like three times; I was killed by the plasma launcher chieftan twice.

Take out your needle rifle and quickly super-combine kill the minors that drop beside him. Marines should be there and they usually distract him quite a bit. Plasma-pepper and then kill him with two super-combines. Of course, this is probably harder if no Marines are there. On all my runs I made it to the landing pad, they've always provided a decent distraction.

This is a RETICULE, and that is a RETICLE. I'm using the latter to aim. And what are you using?

Oh, I've tried a lot, but Reach seems to hate me. I keep encountering opponents that don't appear in any of the videos I've watched, not in your Mythic and Legendary guides and neither Legendary guides by other people.

Just as example, there's an invisible Elite at the first buildings on Nightfall that I haven't seen in any of the vids, yet that %#$&!% Elite kills me almost each and every time. He usually opens fire well before I'm even only close to the balcony you jump on to run past the Covies to the other half of the buildings.

Well, I PPed him from a distance, often between the slits in those metal barriers at intervals on that platform you enter the area from. Then, preferably, two NR supercombines to kill him. Failing that, DMR to the dome until he drops.

He's not so bad on his own. The problem comes when you're attacked by him from below and the hammer chieftian running at you at the same time (if you're up by the entrance door). He has also once come right up there and just blasted me, instead of the Hammer one, so watch out for that.

There IS a sniper rifle on the top floor of the building, laying next to one of the windows. That'd be 6 reasonably easy Brute kills. But between wanting to bring a full DMR and Needle Rifle to the area and trying to juggle in a PP at some point, its something I never ended up using.

No, that doesn't exaggerate :)

Does it count if I did Lone Wolf on mythic? Took me 3 seconds :P
I demand proof of this! 3 seconds seems impossible!

Its pretty much a random element whether he'll see you or not. Try to go over the rock towards the left, near the tree maybe, that might help.

I had never encountered that Elite until a few days ago, but he's there every time now and jacks me up if I don't kill him right off the bat. There's another one at the bottom of the hill on the hut right below the center hill that hits me from behind as I run to the catwalk. Also, the last few times I've forked through the gate the enemies spawn immediately.
Did they update this level/ Anybody else have this issue?

Having fought through the first two sections I can say it's not new, the Spec Ops guy has a few places he'll patrol. Sometimes he'll be aware of your location the moment you're in range and other times he won't know you're there until you fire a shot or a different enemy spots you.

It's just random chance, really.

Nice, so I was just lucky as hell up until 3 days ago. What about the enemies spawning right after Forking through the gate, though? I have run through Nightfall on Legendary several times before and never had an issue with enemies spawning there until recently.

I saw enemies on the other side of the gate after using the forklift to go through the door ONCE, when I was with another person, who was running around the previous area, probably killing enemies, maybe it was something like that? I don't really know honestly...

Anyway, As Tyrant suggested, I BEAT sword base on mythic!

Again, I beat the following:

Winter Contingency
Oni: Sword Base
Nightfall
Tip of the Spear

Which one should I do next Tyrant? (Or anyone whose beaten them all could recommend too...)

That depends: are you looking for something easy, or challenging? If you're going in order, go Long Night, obviously. If you're looking for something that's a small step up, try Exodus or New Alexandria. If you want an easy level, go The Package (I found that one excruciatingly frustrating; I think I was just losing interest in Mythic at that point). Obviously, your bad boys are Long Night and Pillar.

I say you should just do Long Night; it will really get you in gear for the levels to come. Tyrant's tips should've made it easier; I don't know since I haven't played that level with the new Mythic strategies.

We certainly need the extra help eating it all; maybe you'll show us a new and easier way to masticate!

Just don't drop any on the floor or spill the dip, otherwise we'll have to go out and buy another bag of chips. It wouldn't take that long, but we'll waste more time an energy. You'd probably be full by the fifteenth or twentieth bag, but we don't stop no matter how painful it is, until we eat a perfect bag!

Eating the rest of the bag would be stupid, anyone can half-ass their way through a bag of chips!

Damnit, Aura! I saw you double-dip! After you get back from the store, just hang back and digest while we eat the majority of the new chips.

I was looking for the next easiest level to do...

I've only beaten those levels because I learned of Tyrant's strategies...eh, there must be a video for new Alexandria. (Thats gotta be easier than Exodus...right?)

I can't take that huge shortcut with the jetpack, not yet anyway. -_-;

Do Exodus then. It's pretty easy. The only difficult part is the chieftan pad and Tyrant broke that part.

Alexandria is the second most easy, but honestly, the only reason it's difficult at all is the randomized side missions. Also, if you get the engineer and elite one, you're pretty much screwed; there's shade turrets all around the buildings and infinite banshees. The engineers and elites have a resistance against the falcon gun.

No its not been updated. Basically, as soon as you get through the gate, keep sprinting down the path. If you hang around for too long, the enemies will spawn.

In Co-op, have one person wait on the other side of the bridge (and STAY there) while the first gets through the gate and runs all the way to the end.

Did I miss something? Was there a recent change to the game???

So I made it to the smelting room and got the dual wielder in a position where I could easily pepper him with a plasma pistols. Several times his shields flared but refused to pop. Eventually I ran out of plasma pistol ammo... Finally I got within melee range of him and was able to sneak up on him, but he turned around. Fortunately I had full shields and health so I engaged him. 12 melees later he still had shields! Finally his buddies showed up so I booked it, eventually ran out of ammo, and killed myself to keep from wasting even more time.

Were melees nerfed or is this some kind of f'ed up glitch? They aren't usually this difficult to kill...

  • 12.20.2010 11:06 PM PDT

When the dust settles, you will learn what true terror is.

Elites always took forever to melee their shields off. Unless I can get a clean assassination, I never bother meleeing them.

There's probably a reasonable explanation to this; record a clip and put it in your file share, we'll take a look at it. :)

Nevermind. Figured it out. It's only the dual wielder that has this trait. The other two were normal.

Also, smelting room has been broken (in the way that Long Night's comm room has).
