And eh... I got another clip in that same failed run where by an ultra isn't holding weapons and charges me. Haha. I laughed so hard about it.
That Ultra with the no weapons, was he also around the second Tyrant gun? If so, he's the one that hijacked the Falcon. Theres a glitch that means he ends up with no weapons. If you follow him in the film you'll probably see him doing the hijack.

Big thanks to RC, couldn't have done it without your HBO guide to assist.

P.S. Buck sucks.

Nice time, and yes, Buck sucks.

Also, I'm starting to redo the mythic campaign to clear up my runs and incorporate all the new methods in them so that my file share's more welcoming to people.

So starting off: Winter Contingency in 21:47, Film. The zealots were fussy at the end though.

RC's christmas Mythic vid he posted of WC was very helpful. Before I was like 'You can use the Falcon? Lolwut?'.

Yeah. I saw that. He still has a weapon. Its just that he kept it.

Want a clip?

I'd love one, and thank you.

Here you go. The clip starts just as I get to the window to the second smelting room. And ends just as I'm about to finish off the last Grunt. Just under 4 minutes.

I'd enjoy seeing your method too, though, and thank you!

I don't take credit for it; Michael was talking about setting up traps after initially skipping the spawn. Only reason I (and others) didn't really do it earlier was that it was tricky to get the right jump through the window when you're worried about Hunters blasting you. With their spawn skipped, its a very simple matter.

(Sorry for the double. Went WAY over the character limit with the last post. lol)
As long as you're still on topic, its really ok.

Not bad man, I'll check it out when I can get off my ass and start up Mythic again.

Man, why do I have like, no motivation whatsoever for completing Mythic in Reach?

Tyrant, I hope you got the PM from my second account. From the looks of it, even though I never got to read your PM, you used my stuff anyway. Maybe I'm suffering from memory loss or something because I don't remember responding to it. Either way, I wanna let you know that you have permission to use my clips and films for anything you want regarding Mythic.

RC Master - Is there a collection of your videos somewhere on the net, or do I have to download them all to my Xbox? I finally got around to watching that Tip of the Spear run.. I think you were living a little dangerously with grenade launcher, but I did enjoy watching the warthog pretty much flip over the falcon. Gotta love that cowbell skull. lol

And I love my Wraith skip :-) 80% of the time I make it without any issues. 5% of the time, the Wraith either gets off a lucky shot, or one of the other guys just happens to be close enough to step into the secondary gunner seat. 5% of the time I flip the Mongoose and can't recover fast enough before getting pwned by something. The remaining 10% is a direct result of the Grunts and Jackals beyond the Wraith which doesn't involve the Wraith. All in all, I like my skip :-)

Are you talking about sniping the gunner off the Wraith and jetting around the right side with the Mongoose? I tried that my last couple times through, but the damn suicide grunts got me. I can't wait to see the video.

Nice run on PoA, Tyrant. I noticed you backtracked a bit for ammo before the Boneyard area...did you consider going back for your mongoose while you were headed that way, or would it have de-loaded by then? Dunno how safe it would be, but it'd be better than huffing it all the way to the stairs. heheh

So you guys are getting Mythic done on your own pretty well. When are you going to do it co-op? :P

In my experience, it deloads before returning from Boneyard. In fact, it might deload right after Carter's death scene. I don't think I ever checked behind me after the scene, but the couple times I triggered the scene while I was still in the Mongoose, I was on my feet after the scene.

It deloads. It's almost like you're in an entirely different mission from a .map perspective. Think of it like PoA II. And grabbing more ammo was just a mask for what I was really doing... deloading the Boneyard Elites :-D

Emile is sniping with a shotgun on the boneyard cliff! lmao

And thanks Gazas for the empathy :)

EDIT: If Emile is manning a phantom-killer, why doesnt he shoot down the phantoms that drop off on the landing pad?! It would make Noble Six's life so much easier!

EDIT 2: Great show Tyrant, got me nervous though with the Chieftains on the landing pad and the zealots at the end. Are there any other tactics we know of that weren't in the vid?

Me: Hmm, looks like he plans to sneak up on them.
*BAM*
Emile: BLEED, COVIE! *firing at a Grunt 50 feet away*
Everyone: *looks in astonishment and breaks out laughing*
Emile: ='[

Anyway, I think I feel like getting around to finishing off PoA and showing you guys how its really done. None of this "deloading" crap. I'm going to break the Covenant forces down good and proper, because it's more interesting to watch than random flukes, glitches, and running (not that anyone cares, mind you, because its not what will be in the guide. Why do anything if its not the super easy way, right?) Remember when we actually had to fight?

Edit: And here I thought Tyrant wanted to see my approach and was actually going to use some of it; then again, considering all the other skips that he and others used in previous levels, I'm not exactly surprised to see more of the same.

Edit 2: What is it with Elites and iron-mesh windows that confuses them so? In Tyrant's film, he takes out the Field Marshal from behind it with no resistance...which I've also seen happen in Nightfall with a similar iron-mesh window and other Elites, although the Field Marshal is slightly less baffled (probably because he won't leave that spot until the others are dead).

I just had a rather lulzy run at PoA. I get to the landing pad and it becomes a total SNAFU. For the first time I have ever had it happen, the DMR crate propels out of the wall at high speeds and off the cliff.

Not good. Then, I take out the Hammer Chieftain and am firing my Plasma Pistol at the other Chieftain. I had gotten one supercombine explosion off on him before he escaped, and his shields were just about down when...bzzt. No more battery.

Not two minutes ago had I just killed a Jackal with a Plasma Pistol, so I thought I was in luck. Nope. Everything that was dropped had inconveniently despawned.

So I manage to make the best of things and get to the last wave and they're all chillin' above me on the crow's nest. I had a close encounter with a Fuel Rod Grunt who was just standing around on the same area as me, and had he seen me approaching faster, I would have been blown up.

So with Pistol and Hammer, I am managing to kill them off ever so slowly...when finally one of them throws a sticky grenade and I attempt to use my drop shield. It activates but before I can even return to first person I see the grenade stick me and die inside the bubble.

I am mildly amused despite this, though. I think I am gaining an understanding of the Fuel Rod Chieftain. It took me a while, but I eventually got him to wander to where I wanted him. We were but a rock apart and he retreated to the lowest level of the landing pad. I went back up to the edge overlooking it and watched him come out and start heading towards a cliff. It was like Exodus all over again, but I realized that I could just go with a straight-up assassination at this point.

Hey folks! To things to address today I see :-)

FOr the Zealots in PoA, there are two ways to beat them. You actually see one on my video and an attempt at the other. The ffirst way (as figured out by RC Master) is to cohearce them into moving up the stairs then using the stairs for cover while peppering them with the plasma pistol. Then, moving over behind the mesh fence at the end to deal with the field marshall. As you can see, though, they tend to dodge a LOT, and the main issue I have with this method is that if manage to run out of plasma pistol ammo before the field marshall is dead, you're completely screwed. Might as well start over at that point.

That's why I used the method in my video. Skip the first three, kill the field marshall, and since the Mass Driver is right there just go ahead and trigger the cruiser. Some people may feel safer killing the three zealots first, but I personally found this way to be more effective during my runs.

Next order of business is regarding the fuel rod chieftain in the same mission. You'll notice that where I tend to fight out both the fuel rod and plasma launcher guys is the most open area (space wise) on the catwalk (or whatever you want to call it). I do this because there is plenty of room for the rounds to miss, explode against the back wall, and not even touch you. So far, I have never died against a chieftain using that method. It may feel risky. but it's safer than it looks (I'm just so pro at making kickass videos that it looks more impressive than it actually is ;-) ). Give it a shot. You might surprise yourselves :-)

RC Master - Is there a collection of your videos somewhere on the net, or do I have to download them all to my Xbox?

Er.. which ones? My few small clips that are rendered are also available on my Youtube channel. Just my general completions of levels on Mythic won't ever appear anywhere but on saved film form. Theres little point asking someone else to capture it or buying render minutes to render it for the 10(?) people that might want to watch it. Any actual speedruns (that are better than all other current times that we know of) will eventually appear at some point on HSH. No guarantees as to a time frame though. There is a backlog of runs that needs posted, and the run would have to be captured by one of the admins first, who of course have lives :)

Naked Eli:
Are there any other tactics we know of that weren't in the vid?

Very biefly:
you can deload the wraith by going back to the start of the Scarab area.
You can deload the Elites, Shades and Ghosts in the second half of boneyard by going back to where the cutscene started.
You can initially skip the spawn for the enemies in the second smelting room and set up a trap for the Ultra Elite.

Mythic Exodus in 28:29

Sweet time dude! Gonna have to watch this.

---
Following on from my vid of the second smelting room, I thought I'd offer a quick(ish) clip of me clearing out the workshop where the Zealots and Field Marshall are. Since I went right to the end in that run anyway (from Alpha). In it, I take out one Zealot first, then the Field Marshall, and then finish off the final two Zealots.

Things to note: You can take out one Zealot from the doorway to the building. In the clip he got knocked onto some barriers which paralypsed him somewhat, but its certainly possible to take him out from this position even if you aren't so fortunate as that. I used the Holo to draw him out (a little) and distract his fire on occasion.
Next, from the same position as you would take out the Field Marshal from, behind the fence, you may be able to target and take out a second Zealot. They seemed quite intent on staring at me and offered only minimal returning fire.
With 2 Zealots and the Field Marshall dead, there is only 1 zealot left to deal with using the stair method. This might make things a bit easier for people who felt overwhelmed trying to deal with 3 dodgy zealots all at once from the stairs.
The Holo doesn't seem to help much in drawing out the zealots when on the stairs, but at least you can use it to keep track of where they are.

I await your run with baited breath!

Very interested to see what is allowed under the 'Vincent' way of doing PoA, particularly at the harder sections.

EDIT: oh, damn. One last thing I wanted to note on Tyrant's PoA video:
If you're jumping straight up to the mass driver from the area behind the fence; jump onto the section of the wall closer to the mass driver platform (i.e. on the other side of the little strut) then onto the top of the wall, then to the outer wall, and hop over the railing onto the platform. (thats probably explained horribly so if needs be I can provide pictures) This'll leave you exposed for less time and depending on where the zealots are, the platform itself can cover you a little.

Define "harder sections".

Sections: Mission start to vehicles, mongoose run, junkyard, Drone crevice, Boneyard part A (first large group of enemies) and B (second line of defense), smelting room A and B, landing pad waves 1, 2, and 3, mass driver access, mass driver.

Edit: also, every time I hear "set a trap" I think of Ackbar shouting "It's a trap!"

Creative solutions, that's all there is to it. Boneyard part A I thought of the first time I ever played the level and reached that section.

Smelting room strategy was worked out from what I noticed about the Elites behavior. It's honestly one of my favorite parts of the level because it's pretty much a game of hide and seek, and I tend to get a good laugh when I see an Elite stuck under or even on a stairway (he just keeps going up and down the stairway).

Hunter strategy was trial and error. I still have a short rendered clip that shows the general gist of it, but it requires a lot of patience. I may refine it further by using the Shotgun, because it would seem that even with all of the relevant skulls on, they die in a few point blank hits to the back. Strangely enough, I think they die from it faster than in Halo 3 and ODST Mythic...

Mass driver access is a work in progress; in other words, I'm just going to wing it. With the knowledge that I can go after the Field Marshal first, I may just go about the fight differently than I would before.
