ODST Mythic Conqueror #2
Reach Mythic Conqueror #2
Halo: CEA Mythic Conqueror #1
Halo 4 Mythic Conqueror #1

I wonder, how would we all rank the missions now in terms of difficulty? We can't just base it on how hard the level is alone but factors like average time and section skips would need to be considered too.

Obviously on a list Nightfall would be at the bottom, with LNoS probably either tieing with or just beating PoA, though most of PoA can be skipped now so I'd say LNoS is the campaign monster.

Anyway, I'll leave it you guys to argue what would go where, but to get started:

1 being hardest, 9 easiest.

1. LNoS
2. PoA
3. ...
4. ...
5. ...
6. ...
7. ...
8. ...
9. Nightfall

Steam

1. LNoS
2. PoA
3. Exodus
4. ONI Sword Base
5. New Alexandria
6. Tip of the Spear
7. The Package
8. Winter Contingency
9. Nightfall

That's how I see it.

I'd probably switch Tip of the Spear and New Alexandria (simply because of the Falcon ride), but yes that sounds about right to me.

Really, The Package #7? I might have to give it a go, i always thought it would be one of the harder ones.

Yeah it's actually quite tame as far as encounters go. You've got the tank at your disposal and you're only really forced into close encounters two or three times. Not really all that difficult.

Time to start thinking about a LNoS Speedrun to put up on HSH for the next weekly challenge guys! Who wants to try and get < 40 minutes? :D

As for relative difficulty of the levels, I'm not really sure any more. Haven't played enough of some and have speedrun too much on others to have a clear perspective.

Shadow actually had a great tip for the beach. Hijack the Wraith, use it to barricade the Covenant (once they start getting dropped off), and kill your Marines for rockets to use inside the Corvette. In other words, use my tactic for getting rockets but without the opposition :-)

Oh I did see that. In terms of speedrunning I'll probably just grab the two rockets from the troopers just inside and go for it.

Hehe. I'm kind of excited for the LNoS LASO weekly, cus if people don't know the tricks, its going to absolutely kick their asses. It'll be funny seeing all the new poeple going 'OMG WTF THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE!!!??!'

Just did an 11 skull practice run on it. Two deaths in the comms room cus i was being stupid with the sword >_<. Got lucky on the bridge and managed to assassinate the General. Alternated in the final fight between using the Pelican turret and hopping out and Needle Rifling Jackals/grunts and PPing a couple of stubbornly placed Ultras. The Jackals that come from the bow, and the big lot of grunts that come from the stern are prime targets for NRing rather than using the pelican. Makes things go much faster and isn't too dangerous.

Final time was 37:32 on the in-game timer (42 minutes film time with the cutscenes). So hopefully I'll get something around that when I do it for real.

there should be a mythic-difficulty symbol (like normal, heroic, etc.)

also...why does everyone think Nightfall is easy? That was a pain in the a** for me! Is there some trick I'm unaware of?

Sounds impressive, RC!

Btw, just rewatched your 11 minute TotS run. You run like a girl ;-) Nicely done. Awesome find with the second Tyrant gun.

Question. Do you use a capture card for your videos? I'm looking to up the quality of my own without spending a boat load on render minutes (I'm in the process of making the ODST Legendary guide).

The forklift glitch? Thats the primary thing.

I don't have a capture card. Its Nokyard that captures them. He uses some Mac specific thing. I'm trying to find out which one it was.

EDIT: This is the one that Nokyard uses. Mac only.

I'm considering getting one for myself, probably a Hauppauge HD PVR since its HD usb2.0 and since it pre-compresses into h.264 the data rates won't kill my laptop. Top of the line is the Blackmagic Intensity line, but you need a pretty wicked rig to handle the throughput.

WOW! i wish i knew that before lol!

if there was a mythic symbol and/or a reward for completing the game on Mythic difficulty then I would definitely do it. It seems like a fun challenge, but not worth the time if you dont get anything for it IMO.

Well what does some mythic symbol actually get you? Its just a badge of honour right? What did you get from completing Halo 2 on Legendary? (where there weren't even those symbols next to the level select)

If you do it, you get on the list in the OP of this thead. Same badge of honour really.

EDIT: Do you know why I like Mythic? And do you know why I like speedrunning on high difficulty levels? The adrenaline man! Theres always this very real threat of failure, but being close to the edge, and coming out on top leaves my heart absolutely pounding! I'm doing a LNoS run right now (yeah I know I'm crazy) and I've had to stop twice now cus my I'm shaking and I'm afraid I'll mess up! First right before the comms room (ended up going like a dream!) and now I've just cleared the Turret room and am trying to calm down before tackling the bridge. Just pulled off a clutch assassination on a Concussion Ultra that was fully aware of me after backsmacking his buddy! Boy was that instnse!

I am, btw, getting much better at assassinating Elites. You might remember me complaining a few months ago at how hard it was! I do it just for funsies now! :)

FAKEEDIT: Protip: in the practice run, I assassinated the general on the bridge, then took out a grunt nearby. But his tank exploded and went flying across the room. The grunts on the OTHER SIDE of the room realised this almost instantly, then the Elites noticed when the grunts were shouting everything. It seems the grunts are almost easier to stirr than the Elites, so definitely leave those guys for last.

Thanks for the advice! I hear they're a few hundred bucks. My rig is pretty decent. It was top of the line when I first built it, and I've added a few upgrades here and there over the years, but nothing dramatic recently. Hmmm... might be time for me to start looking, though I wonder if it's really worth the investment considering that I'd only be doing this for Halo 3 and ODST...

Twenty-ninth Halo 3 Mythic Conqueror
Eleventh Halo 3: ODST Mythic Conqueror
Fifth Halo: Reach Mythic Conqueror

Order of levels from hardest to least hardest:

1. LNOS (solely for the reason that the first two parts are piss-easy but take a long time. And then you finally get to the third part, you die immediately. Otherwise, this would be tied for first with POA)
2. POA
3. ONI (The way I play it, there's a huge randomness factor)
4. Alexandria (This is difficult; it's so easy to get lost and if you get the side mission where you have to kill the elites and the engineers, you're pretty much screwed)
5. The Package (I remember this one to be very frustrating, even with Tyrant's wraith)
6. Exodus (I don't know why people are saying this level was hard; it didn't take me that long to do it and I had a lot of fun!)
6. Tip of the Spear
7. Winter Contingency
8. Nightfall.

I like Mythic, because it's one of the few things at which I'm actually good. It lets me prove that I'm better than everyone else.

Also: I can't seem to do the assassinate-chieftan-jetpack-jump on Exodus. I'm unclear when to use my jetpack. Do I start using it at the height of my jump when I'm just about to fall? Do I start to use it while I'm falling? Do I start to use it while I have upward momentum? And then, in the air: do I use it just enough to keep my altitude consistent? Do I let myself lose altitude gradually?

Halo Reach Mythic Conqueror

I've had some ideas for LNoS speed rocket accumulation just from my normal runs. In the guide, Tyrant mentions that you really only need 5 rockets to take out all the ranger elites. If you are rushing into the countdown place there is the marine with the RL and you can take his, sometimes he has 2 rockets so you have 2 here. Then a sniper runs past you, I like to take his sniper and then snipe the second RL marine shooting out the broken side of the building. Take his rockets, you have 3-4 now, then I jump out the broken part of the building and often times there is a marine running down to where the wraith was with a RL. Take him out and you could in theory have the 5 rockets you need for the later encounter.

I've also wondered how I would fare taking a PP and a DMR with me, the ranger elites have those weak shields so it may be faster if you could execute this way. The only problem is you may run out of PP

Oh, and here's my order of difficulty

1. LNoS
2. PoA
3. ONI (I only put it #3 because of the courtyard battle, after getting the wraith its pretty easy)
4. New Alexandria (This is my least favorite level in the game, it is just so terrible to play on mythic because you have no idea where to go. Worst designed level ever).
5. Exodus (Hard at times, but for the level after LNoS fighting brutes was so nice. The jetpack jumps were frustrating at times but other than that I didn't have too much trouble)
6. The Package (There are a couple tricky parts but it really turns out to just be a lot of fun having both a scorpian and a wraith at your disposal. The inside jackal room is the worst part, mainly because of your teammates ALing and throwing terrible grenades)
7. Tip of the Spear
8. Winter Contingency
9. Nightfall

Ahhh, crushing defeat on LNoS :(

I messed up the timing for my rush to assassinate the General in the bridge and ended up jumping straight at a suiciding Grunt. :(

Still though, I resumed and made it through. I even took on the Four God Elites of the Apocalypse without the pelican turret (unintentionally mind you!) and came out on top! Which is something I've never actually done before so that was cool.

Total time for the two films was around 45 minutes, so assuming I don't lock myself out of the Pelican gun again, I'm on the right lines.

It's possible, albeit extremely difficult; we have no good strategies for taking them on without the pelican gun. In my run, I come so close to dying using my mediocre strategy; my run was done before we knew you could do that.

Back in my day we didn't have no fancy-schmancy pelican turret glitches!

I did find a way to "break" the elite's AI by blocking off their path with crates, so I used that while fighting the 4 God Elites of the Apocalypse. I ended up assassinating at least two of them, maybe three...

A platoon is usually 26-55 people.
:P

And yes I'm with General Khazard here, those 4 Elites were evil without the Pelican Trick. Nearly made me break at one point (heh, breakpoint), wasted nearly three hours to be killed by the last one.
