For the new PoA Tips and Tricks video, I suggest adding the slightly safer route around the final room's upper beam as seen in RC Master's Mythic film. Any extra bit of safety is good for an unskilled guy like me.

I love LASOs now. that and speed runs :D

anyways, the package LASO is actually taking a lot less time than I thought it would. since I'm not pro at them, I do use the save and quit (did that a s*** load on exodus), but the only time I had to do it on the package was when I wanted to stop playing :)

also, I don't know if you guys have seen it, but normally I take Tyrant's mythic guides as well as others and merge them. one good trick I came upon was in the hall with the elites and the one general. you can see the jump in this:

That run was pretty impressive. But I don't think that shortcut is worth the risk if you're just trying to finish the stage. I was surprised you didn't get blasted by the general after the multiple attempts to jump onto that art piece. I would just take him out from afar while he refuses to move around.

I. Hate. Exodus.

16 failed attempts, for absolute garbage reasons. Accidentally killed myself twice, got inside the final building once, had my Wraith stolen by hoodlum brutes who then killed me. Worst level ever, in any Halo game. In my opinion of course.

I know how you feel. First time through on my Mythic journey I did the level on my 3rd attempt, now however, EVERYTHING always seems to go wrong.

They weren't kidding about beginners luck when it came to me back then :/

There comes a time in every mans life... and that time is not now.

Exodus is done. Took me 50 minutes, but it's done. I was so nervous when i hit the final button, i didn't know if i had actually pressed it or not, so i was spamming the x button and hoping that the brutes didn't see me.

So glad i don't have to go through that again. I know that level extremely well now, from the amount of times i attempted it. LNoS and PoA to go. I might work on LNoS next week so i can tackle PoA the week after. Fun times ahead...

On another note, I found out that you can kill the General before he runs into the bottom of Sword Base.

Here is the video. It is a little lengthy, I think it is worth the time.

This is actually already in the guide. Those things were written for a reason.
Im already halfway through my Mythic campaign, and I only just found out there's a written guide. *facepalm*

actually, when I did it, for whatever reason, the elite decided to back into the hall way and didn't bother me at all when I did it.

@RC oops *blushes* :D

No, IMO that'd be Cortana from Halo 3. The level that looks and plays like the grossest interior of an a$$ you'd never want to see. :/

Are we talking LASO only or just pure gameplay in the way the stage was meant to be played (which would be on the normal setting). If we're talking LASO, LNoS takes the cake for me. If we're talking normal, Cortana on Halo 3 takes the cake with The Library from Halo 1 a close 2nd. Halo 3 got most of the flood stages down pretty good except for Cortana because of all that annoying AI flashback crap along with all the rooms that seemed to look the same.

Am I the only one that enjoyed Cortana? I mean, it wasn't very difficult, even on Mythic. For that matter, any level with flood is easy on Mythic. It was just a little annoying with the Gravemind/Cortana flashes. Definitely nowhere near as bad as The Library.

I imagine playing Cortana on MYTHIC must be tons of fun with the ranged forms pi$$ing their deadly gunk on you. Yeah...

As for the Library on Legendary. Gods, I can barely remember what it was like, but I'm sure it was definitely NOT fun.

I like Cortana for what it is, but on Mythic is wasn't TOO fun ;) mainly because of the randomness, just like Exodus, I like the mission but it's pretty random.

As for The Library, it was fun, mainly because it was intense and scary (by scary I mean fear of dying and reverting all the way back to last checkpoint). But I suppose the best part of it was actually completing it. xD

At least you're done with it now ^^ And you can just break your 50 minutes to make it look better anytime, the second time will always be easier.

this probably has been used before but a easy way to get past the jackals, spec ops elites, and general is to take a ghost from the shade turret area beat the wings off and you can bring it with you to other parts that's if you have armor lock this is actually easier on coop where i did it but if you can get it to the general fight it becomes a god send just drive to the ramp but don't boost trust me aim bots can and will screw you over but just get it to the ramp boost into the general which gets rid of his over shields then drive into the area where the button is but keep ramming and dodging until his shields go down here you can boost and kill him and your already on the next section

Not meant in a trolling way but I've seen all your guides for Halo 3 and ODST and isn't it a bit "cheap" basically dodging as much as you can? On Heroic you fight through, on legendary you fight through, on mythic shouldn't you do the same?

I hope that Reach allows you to do it "properly" for want of a better word.

Given what I've seen Im not sure its possible with all the skulls being the same as Halo 3. And if it is possible it will only be possible with tricks and glitches.

P.S.

Good Luck, and I can honestly say better you then me.[/quote]

the 3 skulls that prevent even try hards from doing this are iron, black eye, and tilt so when you die its all the way over, when shields down your basically screwed, and tilt makes elites near invincible you cant even emp in one fully charged plasma charge so dont question the method just try to survive any way possible

It sounds like he's talking about skipping the first section of the Package by jacking a Ghost and boosting away from the whole battle... and then taking a Ghost inside Sword Base to splatter the camo Elites and general.

I can answer that for you!

Back in the days, we used to fight through...on Mythic. A mission usually took us 1-2 hours and longer missions could take 2-3 hours. However, now when we've done that, we want to spice it up by getting faster runs and such...not only that, we found these skipping methods a little late, which is why we used to fight through, and now when we know these methods, we might as well use them. You say that you fight through on Heroic on Legendary...do you? :) I only do that when I want to get in to the story but if there's a challenge where I have to complete a mission on Legendary, I want to do it as fast as I can and take the easiest routes. I probably don't do it on my first playthrough ever but if it happens to be hard as hell, I might search for skipping routes. However, Legendary has never been that hard so...

Not to mention that there are some stages in Reach, when set to Mythic, are unbeatable by fighting your way through. The main reason for this is mianly because there isn't enough ammo. The main thing I believe that screws you over when it comes to fighting shielded enemies is the freaking tilt skull. So you have to find some famine induced plasma pistol. I firmly believe that the Mythic difficulty was designed to force you to find a way around or past certain parts without shooting your way through. This kind of adds another dimension to the gameplay because most people would only try to shoot their way through the stages. This difficulty requires a certain amount of stealth.

Twenty-ninth Halo 3 Mythic Conqueror
Eleventh Halo 3: ODST Mythic Conqueror
Fifth Halo: Reach Mythic Conqueror

So POA is coming up soon. After that...what next? Will there still be enough interest in Mythic? Will the challenges roll around again? I hope so. They were easy and they gave you so much!

Also, why do people call it "Armor Lock?" Isn't it, "Armor Lockup?" I just noticed that now.

"If [your enemy] in superior strength, evade him."

Sun Tzu said that. And I'd say he knows a little more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it! And then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor!

"[Skipping sections] isn't a cheat, it's one of the central game mechanics, and you might as well argue that you're cheating yourself out of gameplay by not holding the controller upside-down or sticking a bucket over your head."

-Yahtzee

Also, the Famine Skull...and the Iron Skull...

If you can somehow fight every single battle and come out victorious without becoming crazy in the process, then great! You're better than all of us! In terms of scoring anyway. If you're going for speed, all that matters is that you get to the ending cutscene and quickly and efficiently as possible.

When the dust settles, you will learn what true terror is.

I think this is relevant given the recent discussion:

Now that I have some free time, I'm going to be starting a "scorched earth" mythic campaign. My goal is to beat every level again, this time not skipping ANYTHING and killing as much as I can*.

*notable exceptions will apply, such as the mass driver at the end of PoA which is literally IMPOSSIBLE to beat on mythic.
