Cronin's Law----The New Flood Drinking Game

I was paging through the halo manual the other day, and noticed something... the Sniper Rifle in halo fires .50 Cal AM (anti-material) rounds... something like that would tear right through a light vehicle like a ghost or banshee, and possibly damage a more heavily armored vehicle such as the covenant wraith tanks... and yet downing a banshee or ghost with it takes a lot of time and ammo, and killing a tank with it is nearly impossible (i've tried)... so to the point... in halo2, will the sniper indeed be anti-vehicle as it was designed? I do indeed hope so, since with the inclusion of destructable vehicles an anti-material sniper rifle would be truly devastating (an example: a current-day .50 cal AM rifle can tear in one side and out the other side of a bradley fighting vehicle and still have enough momentum to kill a man.)

That would make sense, and the SR in H2 is supposed to a slower
re-fire rate with the recoil and such, so it would make sense to give
it other advantages like vehicle stopping power since it will be less
of a meat grinder like it was in the first Halo.

well see, i just commented on the fact that the ammunition type was, in fact, anti-material... anti-material munitions are designed to be used against light and medium vehicles... such as the warthog/banshee/ghost... and AM munitions are not neccesarily as powerful as a scorpion main gun, mainly because of the lack of splash damage. AM munitions are, also, virtually useless against heavy armour like that on the scorpion tank... and due to the lack of splash damage, it is hard to disable a vehicle with a single shot... but I am not talking about halo2... that would go in new mombasa; I was merely commenting on the apparent lack of damage done by the SR to ghosts/banshees in halo one. oh well. i think the primary influence behind this is game balance, as you afore stated.

I never thought you were disagreeing/flaming, but your post made me wonder if my original post was clear enough, I apologize for any confusion as to my intent when replying...
BUT, not only is it armour-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot round, but right under that it says Warning: Anti-Material Munition or something like that... but is an enemy elite or spartan in multiplayer really a "soft" target?
...
But I agree... nothing for reaching out but a nice new SR2... although if you wanted to reach out and torch someone, a nice new Tozt would be more to your liking I suppose?

heh heh... I imagine flaming grunts would be pretty hilarious, and frankly nothing would satify me more than watching those irritationg buggers known as jackals fry.

Was the flamethrower usable in single player in Halo? Cause I only found it in multiplayer. Oh yeah, In Halo 2, there was gonna be a moon level. U can jump 10x higher! almost enough to throw ur self out the moons orbit!

no, the flamer was only in MP for halo, but for SP in marathon. and nowhere does it specifically say moon level; it says low-grav... space maybe?
...
and i doubt you could use a flamethrower to fly because of how it works. but a flamethrower in low-grav would be badass indeed... flames not only from the sides... but above and below as well!
