Halo 2 has been comfirmed in 480p. Now why can't Halo 2 be in 720p? Or even 1080i? The xbox can support all these. I have a big HDTV, and Halo 2's graphics are gonna kick ass. But they would be a hell of a lot better in True HD. Does anyone here know why they wouldn't? Perhaps the xbox couldn't handle it? Did Bungie buy a HDTV only to have it crap out and they couldn't return it because the store owner a sadistic Freak, so they forever hate HD?

a lot harder to render 1920x1080 or 720p vs. a lower resolution 480p. I'm sure they wanted to and if the xbox had something like a ATI 9800 pro powerwise they could have made it in full HD.

I thought it was confirmed in 720p... I'm gonna read the FAQ again see if it says something...

Nevermind.... 480p... : (

So your saying the Xbox doesn't have the power? Then why does it support it? Or maybe that Halo2 taxes the xbox so much that there isn't room for higher resolutions.

I don't know crap about HDTVs, or MP3s, or everything that's new and techy on the planet, but I don't see why Halo2's graphics wouldn't be better on a better deff. TV.

It would look a better, in 480p. But have you ever played lower resolution games on a Big screen? Not a good result. Take Halo 1 for instance. The Graphics were awsome on my friends 27" tube. But on my 64" widescreen (I switched it to 4:3) it still looked good, but not that good. There were a lot more Jaggys and the Textures looked worse.

You don't see why a games graphics would look better on a better definition TV? THey would, but Halo 2 won't fully take advantage of the capable resolution of HDTV's

No, I asked why it wouldn't look better.

To get that resolution without loss of framerate, the lowest video card possible would be a Radeon 9800 XT. Halo on the PC has a hard time running 16x12 with any video cards. 19x10 would be insane.

Only a little. But being bigger doesn't make up for that.

Play computer games in super high resoultion, 1920 x 1080, then go to 1280x720, then 720x480. It is blatetantly obviose the performace different. Halo 2 is too taxing for the xbox to put any more stress on it with the added resolution. My guess is that 1080i would put it down into about 10 frames per second, not a very fun rate to play at at all.

I don't like how halo looks on my 44" DLP, on a normal tv, everything is crappy so it pretty much hides any flaws, but having an HDTV shows all of them off. I'm expecting halo 2 to not have this kind of problem. (DVD's and other stuff do look fine, just halo). I went out and bought the monster cables, they only help so much.

Yea, I know what you mean. I got a HD pack and so I could use the Optical out. But when I Watch DVDs, since my other one broke, I saw weird lines and fuzzyness. I went out and bought the Monster Componnent Cables and it made a HUGE difference.

I would agree that the reason it's 480p instead of 720p (which I really wish it was instead) is because the Xbox can't produce a framerate of HD that would make for decent looking high velocity video. If there was a lot less action, I'm sure they could, but what fun would that be for a FPS?

My BenQ 8220 DLP projector does a fantastic job with the HDTV acessory, producing a 96" image. I only occasionally notice odd blurred vertical lines during some of the cutscenes.
