Its also distracting. Glance down at your timer and you'll make yourself dead real quick.

All good players time, pros and elites all time. You'll be stuck at noob and intermediate forever if you don't time. Also no you if you look down you won't die, you get used to it and it becomes second nature. Plain and simple if you play just to have a little fun, don't worry about timing... if you play to become a great player then you better get yourself a timer.

If you practice enough, You don't even need a timer. I'm pretty sure for most of us we've played so much that we have developed a timer in our head. I have even found myself going to press "X" before a Rocket Launcher has appeared and by the time I press the button, It's in my hands. But if you have a team of 3 or 4, A dedicated timer is great, Kind of like an information officer. This dedicated timer could be the person who usually has the sniper rifle and could see the hole battle field so he can direct his teammates toward a plan of attack.

I only use mine when the other team has one themselves.

So if I dont use a timer I will never be a "Pro"?
Sorry, but I have to disagree. My friend and I play all the time and we just have learned when to go back for the item. Its like a second nature to us. Timers are not required to be good. yes, pros use them, but probably could win without them.

How does timing work? I mean, you can't keep track of when someone takes a weapon. Then wouldn't that screw up the whole timing?

Or is it that it is always based on a certain time, and when you pick it up, it isn't one minute afterwards, but the number of seconds left to a set minute?

Woah, that was confusing.

Items spawn at the same time, no matter when they are picked up. If you pick up the Overshield at 58 seconds, it will be back at one minute.

You can't be the best if you don't time because the other team will simply always beat you to the advantages. If two teams are equal in skill the team timing is going to win, and I doubt anyone here is equal to skill against some of the pros. Now can you be good without a timer? Yes.. can you beat the pros without timing? No chance...

Soooooo...

If you picked up that rocket launcher at 58 seconds, and its respawn time is 1 minute, then you will get extra ammunition in 2 seconds?

Exactly Stickman Army, but you want to aways get the items the moment they spawn so your enemies can't get them.

To the other guy who said he owns at Multiplayer Offline, well when Halo 2 comes out and you get on XBox live and play in any GOOD games, not n00b vehicle games, you will lose if you're not timing. Sure you might can beat your neighbors but if you've played any on XBC you'll see you're not as good as you want to think you are... so here's a hint, learn to time before Halo 2 gets here, everyone.

Of course. Any body thats good on XBC times. Its a real -blam!- to play dammy and chill without timers against good people. Shaded Halo has it all right, wait till Halo 2 comes out on live and all you little kids will see whats what. Shaded Halo, did u read the article strangepurple wrote when he played H2, it makes it seem like halo 1 multi will be better. 8 shots to the head with the BR to kill, ridiculous.
