I don't understand it. After a game, someone will say they are not trying. But how? I mean, I'll agree you're not trying if I see you looking straight up jumping and spinning in circles the whole game but most of the time people who say they "weren't trying" were killing people the whole game so I just don't understand how they "weren't trying"

People can still play and kill people without trying. Trying means playing smart, staying back and playing to the best of your ability. Not trying means your not being smart and just running around the map, rushing and sometimes with a spiker etc... So there is a difference.

I hate when people say that. It takes away the awesomeness in your victory. Like really, the score is 50-49 and you said you "weren't trying"? Wtf man... The other team kept trying to get set up and timing the power weapons and they "weren't trying". Like the guy before me said, it's most definitely used as an excuse to doing bad. I mean, just cause it's social doesn't mean you have to act like a complete retard. Come on, it's still a match. You can actually put your skills to the test without having to worry about your rank or people playing extremely cheap like they do in Ranked.

I agree with the example above where the score is 50-49 obviously they were trying to an extent..

However when talking about social there is a difference... Most of the time when I go into social I'm not really trying my hardest..

For example if I were playing ranked especially at the higher ranks it is a must I go in with a full team, it is also a must to have the mic plugged in and make any call out you see. I also make sure to work with at least one team mate. In addition I sit forward with my face pretty close to the monitor.

When playing social, I don't always go in with a full team, I rarely plug my mic in, I charge without team mates, and I'm almost always leaning back on the couch, playing casual as social is meant to be played. I am still trying to kill the other team and win, but I am definitely not putting my all into it.

Actually I kind of have stopped trying.

I reached a point where I had nothing left to do in this game.

IDK. I mean I still play to win but I'm not popping adderall and foaming at the mouth while calling out like some people do. I went thru that phase like a year or two ago with this game. A lot of times it can be used as an excuse, and I suppose there is no such thing as just absolutely not trying, so I'm referring more to just my general overall apathy at this point.

Which I would liken to 'not caring' or not trying as much as I have in the past.

You're not good at Halo either.

Well there is a massive change in my game to when I play Halo and when I try in Halo.

When I play I mostly use the BR, have music blasting and am chatting to peeps. My concentration is low which renders my awareness and decision making useless.

But, when I try I will use the snipe, think through my pushes etc... Make sure I know what is going on around me, keep myself sharp. I don't really try anymore on Halo. Just play the game.

Same for Reach. I'm going to be poor at it because I don't care enough to put my heart and soul into the game.

Only time I say that is if I'm eating at the same time or something similar.

Everyone is entitled to their own wrong opinion.

I'm part of the Bungie.net Minecraft group/server called SeptaCrafters
We're a Bungie.net group that goes to our very own Bungie server. Most players are from the Halo community either off Bungie itself or through word to Halo friends.

This response can be 1 of 2 things.

1.) Posted by: Offense
That's their excuse for doing bad.

2.) They actually weren't trying. In certain games i get matched up against levels that honestly i know i can utterly cream. Instead of creaming them i go easy so they won't rage quit or find Halo enjoyable. Yeah i still win, just not by as much as im fully capable of.
