Filed my complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

  • 09.29.2010 10:18 AM PDT

So far so good!!! My biggest noticeable problem last time was that I couldn't even load the 5th chapter, Tip of the Spear. I'm playing it right now!!!

  • 09.29.2010 10:23 AM PDT

Alright, so yesterday I accidentally erased my gamertag on my xbox (more like the HP usb decided to eat my data) so I put in my original HDD and recovered my gamertag. And what do you know? Reach works with my xbox now. If you guys are still having problems with Reach, try recovering your gamertag and boiling the disk. Just be careful!

  • 09.29.2010 10:28 AM PDT

Hold up... Did you say BOIL like put a pot of water on the oven and turn it on high and drop the disk in....

sorry what the hell does that do for it?

  • 09.29.2010 10:54 AM PDT

Okay, everyone stop boiling, microwaving, whatever the hell you are doing to your discs. There may have been a disc pressed wrong somewhere, but it is not widespread. The problem is your Xbox. I exchanged 3 discs, all of which worked on my friends Xbox and not mine. My replaced Xbox, as I can tell so far, can play what I couldn't before in areas of Reach.

Hey guys. I also have a 20 gb 360 that i purchased back in 2007.

Whenever I load the game, I can watch through the initial cut scene for the single player campaign up until the team jumps into a pair of helicopters and flys off. Then the cut scene starts again. I tried to see if I could just jump into the multiplayer, but as soon as everyone is ready to go play and the map starts to load, I get a disc-read error.

I tried to install the game and play it through the hard drive, but I couldn't even get to the main menu. I just got a green screen. After a minute of that, I get the disc read error.

I also noticed that in the intro video before I got to the main menu screen, u know..where you see a picture of space, then the bungie logo, then some asteroids colliding, followed by the microsoft logo, ect... certain parts of the screen showed static or became very pixilated. Not the entire screen, mind you, but only small noticeable blotches here and there.

I called xbox, went through the usual fix-it tips and nothing worked. I went back to gamestop and replaced the game once, but found that i had the exact same issues with the new game disc.

My thinking is...it can't just be a hardware problem. Every other game that I own works just fine. It's just halo reach. Maybe it's the way they coded it... Anyways.. I hope they come out with a fix for it soon. Preferably a patch update.

Thanks for the update. Now here's the question: what exactly did they do to your Xbox?

Having the same issue as many - getting disc read errors on my Xbox 360 20gb system with Reach, when my other Xbox and Xbox 360 games run just fine on it. Just returned my copy of Reach for the 2nd time...let's hope the 3rd disc's the charm.

What i don't understand here is that every story i heard is different.... I can play the Campaign fine about half way through the story but every now and then it freezes on the final cinematic and i lose all progress unless it's saved...

Then i go to Multiplayer and don't have a problem at all playing any level but after just about every game going to post game lobby to see final stats i get the DRE and it kicks me to the dashboard and i have to restart reach.....

Oh yea... and now my music/sound effects is screwing up... some games will play fine and some i can hear all the sounds of the game (water footsteps etc..) but can't hear gun fire or the announcer of the game or the music... now that was just weird....

so does anyone else have this problem?

Getting my Xbox back today. Anxiously awaiting to update you guys.
Your XBOX came from Mexico so I'm assuming it's a different console then the one you sent in. Is it just a refurb and is it in good condition? Mine is coming from Mexico as well so I'm curious.

Mine came from Mexico too, and what sucks about it is that the police tore the thing apart because they thought I was trying to smuggle illegal immigrants in it.

"You could've had a V8...now it's too late!"

After reading through ten out of the on hundred + pages of extremely pissed off Halo Reach fans (im pretty pissed as well) shouldn't Microsoft compensate their consumers by allowing those with the old Xbox 360 Pro's fro '06 send it in for a free repair?

First of all, they're selling and promoting a game that does not even work for the system they guaranteed it would play on. This is called "False Advertising"

Second of all, providing no other option except "Take your Xbox and shove it or send it to us for 100 bucks" shouldn't it be coercive extortion? This is also pertaining to the False Advertising part, they "tricked" us or mislead us into purchasing a product that does not even work.

Third, they have yet to even fully address the problem and the customer service reps are indeed, of no help whatsoever. When they did, they had the audacity to say "A small number of people are experiencing this problem". BS! More than a hundred users here are having this problem, and most likely thousands more unaccounted for. (My friends at school are experiencing this too)

Anyone else agree? At least let people who don't enjoy spewing money out of our asses just so a gaming giant and cram it in their mouths just to make a single game work.

At the moment, im prompted to file a BBB complaint, but I am a bit hesitant because its saying to only do so if they haven't responded to this problem yet.

But its been weeks since the launch right? That's more than enough time fully address this problem to the community.

Alright as I mentioned earlier I am part of the Xbox LIVE Update Preview Program. The update came out tonight, so I now have the update and new Xbox Dashboard. This is what I did tonight:

- Installed the Xbox Live Update
- Deleted my Reach install
- Recovered my gamertag to my hard drive (I had moved it to a USB stick, because the only way I could play Reach online is if I removed my hard drive from my console)

After doing this I started up Reach with my HD installed and I am now able to play mutliplayer without disk errors. I only played a handful of games but so far so good. I'll mess around in campaign mode some over the next few days as well as more multiplayer so we'll see if the errors come back.

Is anyone else in the Preview Program having disc read errors? If so please let us know if you still have the errors after the update!

OK GUYS......................... Went got a new disk.... and all my problems are solved!!!! woo hoooooooooo

see ya on the battle field!

If you send in your Xbox 360 they WILL SEND YOU A REFURBISHED XBOX 360!!!

That Xbox you sent in will be refurbished, and be sent to someone who sends their Xbox in the future. That is how Microsoft works. Instead of taking the time to fix it, they just send you one that wasn't working before but fixed. That is why I will not trust sending my Xbox 360 in.
