Definitely not for everyone. Moving my profile to USB worked for me only when my hard drive was not plugged in. If my hard drive was in I still got disk errors, even though my profile was on a USB stick.

It should. Put your memory card in and go to My Xbox -> System Settings -> Memory -> select your hard drive -> Profiles -> hit A on your profile and select "move"

Got my repaired console back today. Plugged in the same hard drive and I have no problems. So it wasn't the disk and it wasn't the hard drive in my case.

After a week playing Reach with no problems, my disc suddenly became unreadable last night.

I'm running on a six month old 250GB Super Elite and have no issues with any other game. Checked over the disc, it's fine - no scratches.

Here I found a solution. (You might need to be over the age of 18 or get your parents to explain this to you...)If you don't know what a class action lawsuit is then educate yourself. Ask your parents or find a dictionary.

If microsoft or bungie refuses to address/fix the issue by the time the first patch is implemented then the blam is really goin to hit the fan. If the only language microsoft can speak is $dollar signs$ then we will surley get their attention when the issue is brought to court.

Clearly I am not the only one with this problem. Don't get me wrong I have always loved bungie but I want to see someone (whether it bungie or microsoft) compensate my losses in a REFUND (not a disc replacement) or a new console or something. The page 35 reply from urk is pretty much word for word what each microsoft customer support rep is telling each and every one of us when we call in. Please tell us something we don't know. Its truly sickening how microsoft and bungie are making top dollar off of steadfast fans in such hard economic times.

My guess? Nothing. They sent WinterShrinkage (lol btw) a different console, probly refurbished, and are poking the sent in unit to find out problem. The tech guy I spoke with indicated that they still don't have a clear fix on what the problem is.

EDIT: don't give up on the possibility of a patch. Until then I will be playing DR2!

This will probably be my last post on this thread, which is a good thing.

I successfully beat Reach from start to finish on my replaced Xbox without a hitch.

I do not know what they did to the console, I'm not sure if its the same one I mailed in as I forgot to hold onto the old serial number (pretty sure its different), but one thing I can tell you for sure is the disc drive is incredibly quieter. That's all I notice so far, I did not receive an HDMI enabled box I kind of hoped for, still the same old 20gb model. Before my Xbox sounded like a dryer, now it sounds the way a disc drive should. That is the only difference I've noticed, otherwise it plays all games. Including Reach.

I had to throw my hat into this ring.

I ordered Reach online from Newegg, received the game disk a few days after launch. When I popped the game into my Xbox 360, 20GB, from 2007 (after two replacement consoles), the game disk showed up as "multi media disk".

After a couple of retries, the disk showed up as "play game" but no image was available. I could not even start the game or try installing it to my Hard Drive.

After 1 hour on the phone with Microsoft going through the 10 step process they make everyone go through, I was finally told by the service center (different division) that they do not have a stock of Reach DVD's to replace faulty disks with, and I should go back to the place I purchased the disk from.

I will be receiving my new disk from Newegg.com tomorrow and will see if that one will work.

I have very low hopes after ready this extensive forum. Thank You to everyone for giving ideas and options, because MSoft and Bungie seem to be useless.

In the end I will probably return the game for a refund (If I can) and never purchase a Bungie game, or Msoft Console again. Sorry MSoft, I will be a PStation fan boy for the next gen of consoles (and will tell my friends the follow).

I just received my replacement Reach from Microsoft. I looked at the disc and didn't notice any kind of blemish on the disc like what was on my old one. So far it hasn't crashed on any of it's old spots. I would tell you guys if at all possible to try and get a replacement disc from Microsoft. I'll update if anything else happens.

Did you send in your old disk or kept it because I'm thinking about calling them and asking for a disc replacement. If not...well Fallout New Vegas comes out next month and I'm sure gamestop will be giving trade in deals

I sent in my old disc. I've had a little problem with campaing. I died and it restarted back at the beginning of the mission....Hmm. Well at least it's better then before.

At this point, I am more than fed up with this. I have waited and waited and waited with no avail.

I am filing a BBB complaint today and I think we should get the ball rolling on a CAL. Seriously, wake up. If we don't do anything, nothing is going to happen and I think Microsoft has clearly demonstrated that.

Just went to my local gamestop after a conversation on phone with xbox then microsoft, they guy said they may issue a recall wow...h8t picked up a new disc so far so good.

Ok so I had to create an account but I really feel I need to share my experiences, I'm going to get straight to the point, the halo reach issue is CPU related, yes you can play other games that use it in a different way but basically it's an early sign of future failure!

I have spent over 2 weeks following this thread and trying various console fixes etc, I knew from the start it wasn't the disc as the same copy worked on my other 20gb console with no issues, to test if it is your CPU I suggest loading forza 3 and seeing how long it takes for your console to freeze because it will.

To overcome this problem I bought a refurbed elite that was repaired 22/09/2010 for the same price as sending in the console to ms and i sold my old xbox for £30, yes I'm out of pocket but atleast I have a working 2010 console and none of my cash went to Microsoft. I really hope my findings help someone as this has been the most stressful two weeks ever and it would be nice to know it helped lol.

Also I am using the same 20gb hdd on my elite, this hdd came from a 2006 pro model so it's definatley not a hdd issue!
