Just checking in to see if anyone has a solution yet..

Currently it looks like the options are:

1. Send the disc back for a replacement, no Reach for ~2 weeks*
2. Send the 360 back for a replacement, no gaming for ~3 weeks*
3. Spend 5 to 10 minutes ejecting the disc to start up every time

*either of these options may not solve anything

These options all stink. Where is the solution that makes the customer happy? I spent $150 on the legendary edition for this nonsense.

or send the disc in and get a used copy of reach

You do know it's not the disc it's a console error. No matter how many disc you try it will still pop up with the error.
Try playing without the hard drive in your xbox. It won't pop up with the error and you'll be able to play it perfectly. I've been doing that for about 4 weeks and haven't had any issues. The only downside is that you can view fileshares or save recent films. I've done numerous test on Xbox's and Reach, the error only shows up on original consoles but the new Xbox360's (Slim, Elite, 09 Model) work perfect. I've only tested it on 4 xbox 360's and the disc will only pop up as unreadable on the original console. Hop this provides a solution to all your problems with Reach. Just give it a try without a hard drive in your xbox

THey CALL ME MODDKILLA

contacting xbox via that phone number is a load of -blam!- they know absolutely nothing. All they tell you to do it turn it off/on, clear cache...I could of told you that. THEY ARE NO HELP AT ALL. The retards will then ask if its under warranty and if its not you have to pay 150 for it to get refurbished. WWHAT A SCAM! you might as well buy a new console.

i had same problem with halo 3 disc. I had moved the xbox with the disc in it and it got scrached. so i called the customer sopport line (on white paper behind manual in disc case) and i told them what happen and the told me that if i sent in my broken disk they whould send me back a new free one .

If yours insent scratched ring them up, strick a deal then scratch it you need it scratched to send it in.

if this doesn't work then well i must say it does really suck to be you

I've been through 3 discs at GameStop. I spent 4 days with the Microsoft help line.

I have a 2006-02-09 360 Pro w/ 20gig... which has had 3 different disc drives during its lifetime thanks to the RROD repeatedly happening.

I've quit playing Halo Reach. It's not worth my time. Playing the campaign is impossible. Half the time that I get to a mid mission cut scene, it sends me back to the beginning. The initial cut scenes of a mission constantly loop and it takes sometimes 20 to 30 times of trying to skip them... to start the mission.

I tried to enjoy multiplayer, but every once in awhile the disc can't be read.

Bungie screwed up royally. Unless they can fix this, I'm done with Halo and I'm done with Bungie as a company.

I don't know that, because this is a problem unique to the Halo:Reach disc. I did manage to install the game to my HD, so I won't be playing without it.

Once I get past a few ejects it starts and then I can play so long as the 360 remains powered on with no problems. I keep watching this thread in hope that an actual solution will present itself.

okay I called microsoft saying that my games aren't loading. I got the disc error menu when my games are perfectly fine. I told them halo reach, red dead redemption, and nba 2k11 freezes on me. I followed all there troubleshoot and still got nothing. On top of that I called microsoft and they want to charge me 110 dollars for sending in my xbox -_____- any help???!?

I have something interesting to add to this thread. I bought reach the day after it came out, and had zero problems with it. I read about all the problems you people were having with the disc, and was glad I wasn't affected. Well, today my friend and I were playing Reach, and he had never played Halo 3 before. So we decided to play some H3 for a little bit, just for fun. Now keep in mind I havent played Halo3 on my xbox in at least 1 year. So we played 1 game, had enough, and I put reach back in. Sure enough, I'm now experiencing the same problems you guys are having. The controller is unresponsive at the very beginning loading screen with the bungie logo, and 5 seconds later the game will freeze and have sound loops. I can't understand how my Halo 3 could have affected my Reach disc, but it did! Now I can't play, AT ALL

About a week or two ago I sent my Halo Reach Xbox into Microsoft to fix the problem having to do the DRE happening with the game. I got the xbox back Friday. Halo Reach now works fine but the problem is that now the xbox freezes at random moments and after different time periods of play, and this is during any game by the way. I just went from one problem right into a worse one. Congratulations to me. -sigh-

Update to the post that I put up not too long ago. Managed to play Reach for a little bit and guess what, got a DRE. The xbox is still freezing no matter what I play so I went from not being able to play 1 game to not being able to play any. Thank you Microsoft for making me wait 2 weeks for an xbox you didn't do jack -blam!- to fix.

So, after 118 pages, i am sure that i will not be adding anything new, but here is my issues.

I played Halo reach about 6 times, before all the maps went away in campaign mode, and multiplayer. Now, i get a green screen while loading, and the error message, The game failed to load for unknown reason.

I called customer support, the first time, i was told to get an xbox live account, (I don't currently have one, because there is no hi-speed internet offered in my area - FML)

So, i was told to go pay for an account, and an update would fix everything. (Spend x$ here)

That didn't work.

I called again, and was told my console needed to be sent in, but it was going to cost me, like the 4 times of RROD. (Super! ) i declined, because all of my other games work.

I played the game on 4 other machines, all NOT 1st generation machines, like mine, Reach Works on all of them, even with my hard drive plugged in, The maps will load, everything works great!

The problem only seems to be happening with the first generation Xbox 360's.

I am waiting on Microsoft to find a solution, and either send me my money back for the game, or find some sort of patch for the early models of their console.

What a huge mess up.

I would rather the customer support be honest with me and tell me, they don't have a solution yet, but i will be contacted when they do, rather then point me in directions that spend MORE of my money, and don't actually fix anything! Thanks Microsoft! Thanks..

Its not just 1st gen boxes. The latest 250gb of mine has the same problem of DRE.With mine i tend to get it right at the end of a MM game or on one occasion i had it at the end of a campaign mission. I always got my credits/score etc though----wierd

Can anyone tell me if this is something Bungie/ Microsoft is even working on? or going to fix?

I can't find any public response from Bungie or Microsoft on the issue. If they publicly responded it would ease my mind.

...or you could just turn the Xbox on, take the game out, turn off, turn it on again, and put the disc back in.

i tried doing that, but it didnt work. eventually, i got so sick of it, i just gave up and put in halo 3. after a game of halo 3, i stuck reach back in... i was so desperate to get reach to work... and it worked! then i never had a problem again...

  • 10.25.2010 2:29 PM PDT

Having the same freeze issues as everyone else, and sent my disc back in for a replacement. So...over two weeks later I get a package back from MS. The morons sent me a new copy of Halo 3. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Hands down the worst customer service experience I've ever encountered.

If you are in the US or Canada, You need to go to the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint. Then MS will contact you and "repair" your console for free and replace your disc and give you a 1 month xbl card.
That is what I did. I have a refurbished console, a game that works and 1 month of live.

"What's there to understand about swish, swish, stab?"

It seems for some reason, my Halo Reach will work fine on some occasions, then quit again for no apparent reason. I don't know what causes this, sometimes it reads, sometimes it don't.

the real problem is the GAME DISC!..i had one of the original xboxes,(white one) and my copy of halo reach played perfectly fine..i even beat the campaign 3 times (even legendary solo)..sure every now and then i would get the ocassional "please clean disk" message at the dash board, but i looked past it...but just recently i wasnt able to load "courtyard" on score attack, and then i couldnt load some campaign missions neither...

so i did everything in the book

* called 1800-4my xbox and they suggested to "clear system cache"(did not work)

* i deleted my xbl account and "recovered it"(did not work)

then i got a little drastic...yesterday i bought the *250gb xbox "s"....wasted about $350...and waddaya know?..the game still DID NOT load the maps!!...

at this point i didint know what to do..i just dished out $350 for nothing?!!..finally my last resort was to actally buy a brand new copy of HALO REACH...and u know what?.....

IT WORKED!! apparently it wasnt my "launch xbox" or a "curropt accunt"

all i had to do was waste another $60 for a new copy of reach!
