In response to the 5th November weekly update:
So now there are the uber 7'777 cr jackpots 'randomly' chosen for the loyal gamers that hit secret quotas and stay through each game. What about the loyal gamers that stay through to the end of each game but gets booted back to the dashboard because of this painfull DRE issue? We miss out on the opportunity of some juicy credits because of this - No Fair!

So one of the few game modes that i hardly ever get DRE on is 'Living Dead'. So naturally i've been playing this alot to avoid being booted to the dash after each match. However it is so frustrating to play as everyone picks Asylum and climbs up a bloody wall! This makes this game mode repeatative and tedious.There is no hunter/hunted dynamic which makes 'Living Dead' Appealing.
Bungie please fix this and put a kill zone up there, also above the base, if you aren't able to fix DRE!

Wow you guys had to get your xbox's repaired I called and some Indian chick said Im getting a free replacement disc in 7-10 days.
And I quote We would like to inform you that your replacement Xbox accessory has been shipped, and should be with you within the next 10 working days. If you have not received your accessory within this time, please contact Xbox Customer Support.

The replacement disc didn't help me at all. Now I have to pay to get my xbox repairs even though it plays other games perfectly fine.

So what's the deal with the BBB thing, is this actually working for people? I know now that my problem is my CONSOLE and not the discs. I have ran countless troubleshooting steps with multiple discs, multiple consoles, and multiple HDD/memory units and have determined that my problem is my Xbox. Are people really getting a replacement Xbox's straight from M$ by filing complaints to BBB?

wow. my reach just now messed up, it wont let me skip the intro before the menu, and I know why. It's not even loading the menu. Before the menu it's just a black screen then after about 5 minutes I get a DRE. Wonderful. Oh well, I have gamefly. I can obtain a new disc.

I have the new xbox slim 250G and the reach pre-ordered disc; in some parts of the game it looks like im getting internet lag!!! loaded the game to the harddrive same thing.

Bring back the 1-50 ranking system to Halo Reach, and you will see the most massive population increase. Make us proud Bungie.

Yeah i had my old xbox since the launch but i just recently bought the slim, and my previous one had trouble reading games. It would turn on and play, but the newer games never read so i just sold it and got a slim.

Dear Bungie,

If I mail you my disc and a check for $10, would you give me a token to play the game I already bought and installed without needing the disc in tray? I'm pretty sure you had Halo:Reach on the marketplace already for reviewers.

We appreciate you are diligently working to fix this problem, but it has been a couple of months now without a solution better than mine.

Its the HDD. I have a 4GB slim model, Halo Reach works great on that. I needed a HDD for the co-op and other features, so I used the 20GB HDD from my old xbox and took off the external case of that and put it in my 4GB slim. I fired up Halo reach and it froze and would not respond. So it has something to do with the HDD, I even reformatted it for it to work. But still nothing.

After taking the HDD out, reach worked fine for me again. I would like some sort of fix for this.

I haven't read all the pages in this thread so i don't know if this has been posted or not, But after calling the support number i was walked through a troubleshooting process. What ended up solving the problem was to remove the game disk shut off your console, then to remove your hard drive. Restart your console, insert game disk. Do not preform any updates, its a waste of time. The game should be readable at this point, Don't know if this is part of the solution, but start up the game for good measure. Then shut off your console and re-attach your hard drive and pray upon the seven pillars. Now start your console, and start the game(if its reading it). If this worked for you please let us know so that we may eliminate this issue being specific to my console. If this does not work do what has been repeatedly advised and call 1-800-4-my-xbox (1-800-469-9269) Best of luck.

I finally gave up hope for a real solution and called 4-MY-XBOX. Sure enough, they walked me through the same steps as others here.

Step 1: Clear the cache, everything fixed? no?
Step 2: Remove the hard drive. Fixed? no?
Step 3: Remove the memory card. Fixed now? no?
Step 4: OK, this is a free repair, send it in.

I was told I'd have a Reach-capable Xbox 360 back in 2-3 weeks, and a one month xbox live card for my trouble.

They aren't sending coffins anymore. They just emailed me link to print a UPS label and told me to pack it up best I could and send it home [for burial I suppose]

Odd thing is that the tech didn't seem to know anything about Bungie, Reach, or this problem, but it was a free repair anyway. The support line has been upgraded with several Kinect-related failure options, so I suppose that's what they are dealing with mostly.
