Soul slayer Ashido

My Xbox360 refurb I had from 2008 finally decided to become too much of a hassle. Whenever I play certain games now, it either disc unreadable, freezes until I eject the disc forcing me to go back to dashboard, or freezes and I have to press the power button and it takes maybe 15 secs to turn off.

I finally gave in and purchased a 250GB Xbox360 Slim, and maybe now I'll be able to fully enjoy this game.

My Disc bearly reads the only thing i can play on halo reach is forge. For matchmaking it just endlessly says loading info from server and for everything else except forge it says players failed to load content

Does anyone know if buying an hd for my 4g slim will fix my unreadable disc error?

  • 12.06.2010 1:00 PM PDT

are you a fool or something buddy? is this your train of thought? "oh i bought this game, it dosent work, maybe i should spend more money to fix the problem" how does this make sence, its people like you that are letting m$ know its a good idea to -blam!- their customers right in the ass.

Alright so an update from my end. If you are getting the disc read error, it may very well be a larger hardware error going on. Today my xbox red ringed (Halo 3 Special Edition xbox). However due to my past complaint with the BBB regarding my halo reach issue I got in contact with the guy from that, and he set me up with a complimentary repair despite being a few weeks out of warranty.

So if you are having the disc read error, and are still under warranty... get your xbox fixed. Because something bad may be going on.

If you are out of warranty, make a choice between the 120$ repair, or 99$ repair if you order the repair online. It sucks I know... trust me, I have not been as mad as I was today in a long time.

What response did people with the 4g slim get from calling 4-my-xbox? I would have been happier with that trashy COD game :/

Edit: Replaced my copy. It works now.

If your disc isn't reading, then DO NOT call the MS support hotline, it will do NOTHING. My discs weren't reading, and my warrenty had expired, so we took the 360 apart, cleaned all the circuitry. Then we unplugged the disc drive, opened it, cleaned the lens off, put it back together, and plugged it back into the console. My 360 has been reading discs ever since.

depends whats causing the DRE though, could be a speck or dirt or dust has collected on the lenses. im sure these people are having problems much worse than that though

  • 12.07.2010 5:44 PM PDT

Ok well my 360 Pro had the DRE issues with Reach, but then I got an E73 error a few days ago so -blam!- Xbox. I'm over it. I'm going back to PC gaming where I can fix my own problems without relying on dip-blam!- customer service. Thanks for the memories Microsoft, now go -blam!- yourselves.

the same thing happend to my i called xbox and said " we can either order you a new one or go to gamestop and buy one. if your still having problems go to game stop and buy one. ALERT: if you have no ascesessed your recon or legendary percase it might now work on the new disk

  • 12.08.2010 9:39 PM PDT

Same problem, but I cleaned the disk with boiling hot water. My copy wasn't organic dye, if it was then it would not have been readable afterward. This can expand parts of the disk where condensation during packaging may have made it unreadable. On close examination of the disks that give this error you'll probably see a very faint white glaze under the surface.

Within a minute of drying the disk I ran it on the 20 gig "pro" console. I installed the game and avoided it having problems again. Everything works fine now. Even the campaign, which had been flashy and lagging from the start.

I assume all disks are not organically dyed, but you should find out. I don't know how. I just risked it, and it turned out it worked. As it is the disk at fault, you can return it anyway for being faulty.

Good luck.

ohh dude! i know what to do! for real! heres what you do. take a usb hard drive then make it a hard drive compatible for xbox 360, convert everything to it from your hdd including your profile, then turn it off, remove your hdd then try without the hdd using only the usb stick. works for me. the only flaw is you cant use community things. send me a message for more details.

cuz were hoping that bungie will do or say something about it, other than buy/replace your xbox, and get the new maps

  • 12.10.2010 12:24 PM PDT

Damn... I don't have this problem, but it DEFINITELY needs to be fixed. Fast. It's actually false advertising. Someone needs to sue...

  • 12.10.2010 12:36 PM PDT

Bad customer relations on this issue.

"Thanks for your money, call someone who cares"

New for 2010, Bungie's Halo:Reach*

*not compatible with 1st generation xbox 360's, or certain combinations of dvd drives, manufacturing locations, serial numbers, power adapters, etc. We offer no guarantee this game will play, and if it does not, we will offer no solution. Get a new xbox 360 and try again. If that doesn't work, get another one.

ENJOY!

i have abandoned this game 3 weeks after buying as my complaint with BBB fell on deaf ears. I will never buy anything associated to halo or bungie again.
