Still nothing from Bungie? That's a shame.

New for 2010, Bungie's Halo:Reach*

*not compatible with 1st generation xbox 360's, or certain combinations of dvd drives, manufacturing locations, serial numbers, power adapters, etc. We offer no guarantee this game will play, and if it does not, we will offer no solution. Get a new xbox 360 and try again. If that doesn't work, get another one.

ENJOY!

Just tried my brand new disc bought from Amazon in my Xbox slim, which has never had any problems with any other games. Doesn't even recognize it is a game, it just says 'reading' for awhile and then 'insert disc'. The disc looks perfect, but I've tried a few times with no luck.

this should be a crime, why isnt bungie or m$ doing anything to levy the situation?

  • 12.13.2010 1:33 PM PDT

The game works perfect for me except for the noble map pack maps Its so annoying its like wasting 800ms points

  • 12.13.2010 1:34 PM PDT

of course, wasnt halo 3's map packs much better? i was watching a youtube video that had the map with the sattalite dishes in the background and i thought, man that was a great map.

As I have been banned for 7 days I will be unable to post this but

I wanted to apologize for the post the other day "Stop Supporting Game Developers You Hate". Unfortantly I wrote a great post that stated I was sorry for what I did and why but couldn't post it (and now how to rewrite it). So please forgive me for that post, I was not thinking clear and wish people would just pretend it never existed (cause it was crap)

You guys know what it sounds like to me is Bungie needs to work on their games bad language (computer code). I was reading about issues where the Xbox slim (4gb) was having hard drive issues. I wonder if they went to fix the slim and ended up break the code for the regular xboxs. I tried it on my 20gb after a friend contacted me with the issue. And I had no problem, but for him to play he has to remove his hard drive. So this means to me there are driver issues.

I tried other fixes to which none worked for him. Including clearing the cache, making sure he was connected to xbox live (in case he missed an update), turning his console on its side, making sure he didn't have the game disk saved to his hard drive. But I have said this before Halo Reach was poorly coded (I constantly had framerate issues, the image would downgrade, connection issues), and I think Bungie (being the greedy people they are, ODST and map packs) rush the title with bad code.

Now I also just learned my friends is an original xbox (back when they first released) while mine (20gb) was right before they released the 40gb ones (pissed me off), mine works his doesn't, not sure if there is a difference but there could be.

Also when did this start for people? was it before or after we updated the last big xbox live update?

But in the end sounds like Bungie is more worried about map packs and making a quick buck and Microsoft is right behind them it seems, cause this sounds a drivers issue

Also have you guys tried updating the game? I just spoke with turns out he didn't connect to the web, he is a silver account and didn't know he could still connect. So people make sure your xbox live is the newest version and ur halo reach is up to date. But in the end I still think with this many people it's bungie's fault and they don't care, an argument of mine in a post I did about how gaming is destorying itself

Gaming Is Destroying Itself (Bungie you're not helping)

  • 12.14.2010 12:50 AM PDT

well its real nice to see bungie is doing everything they can to fix this ridiculous problem..*sarcasm* like come on, give me a copy of halo reach that will work for more than 4 games on my 4 month old xbox 360 slim this is horrible!!!!! and can some1 maybe give me some feedback on what to do if i get another copy will it work? if it doesnt then goodbye halo for me. my once favorite game gets ruined becuz of a DRE??? embarrassing bungie.

I got the game today and it working fine so far. I use a 08' unit and it works great. I guess it is just some consoles that it won't work on.

What do you folks expect? I'm older than most Halo fans, so I've had experience with a lot of companies in my time, and Bungie's customer service is the worst I've ever seen. It seems to be nonexistent. I've never experienced anything like it.

Great products, terrible attitude. They obviously love themselves (just listen to Luke Timmins in a ViDoc) and they obviously love our money, but they offer no way to contact them if you have a problem, or if they do, it's apparently a well-kept secret.

On the other hand, this may be a practical necessity. Most Halo fans, or at least a high percentage of them, seem to be kids. If they gave out contact information they'd probably be inundated with e-mails from hundreds of thousands of kids who didn't even buy the game themselves (because their parents bought it for them) whining about all kinds of stupid, insignificant stuff.

But this issue really shows just how bad their attitude is toward their customers. This is a real problem and they don't even acknowledge it as far as I can tell. I bought Reach for my son and he couldn't play it. He didn't have a chance to address the problem before leaving the country and now he has no online gaming access, so I basically wasted my money. Nothing quite like buying your son a highly anticipated gift that doesn't work.

My game has been working properly since release day and now a week ago, when i'm playing, the error message sometimes pops up. "Cannot read the disc"

This is the only game that it happens on. I haven't even touched the disc in a wrong way either.

What could be the problem? anyone know?

  • 12.19.2010 4:03 PM PDT

Hey, I have a white xbox 360 as well but it isn't the launch version since it has the 60gb hard drive. This issue probably only affects certain 20gb 360's. Therefore, any reach disc's won't work on your 360 since it seems that the problem is orientated around the xbox itself. P.S., I bought Halo Reach like a day ago. So I can't be sure.

yeah I agree with you, I also have the 2008 xbox pro model with 60gb hard drive. I think these 60gb version are really good since so far i dont' really seem to have any problems or issues with it whatsoever. Lucky me..

  • 12.19.2010 5:26 PM PDT

well my xbox is just not recognising a single game

yeah dude i have the same problem, i got a new disc at gamestop and it didnt work at different places, it keeps stoppping on the levels sword base and waterfront, and on mission one(the checkpoint where the level overlook is) i have no idea what is happening so i just play all of the stuff that actually does work.

I use to get the disk read error every now and then but as time went by I found the problem to be with the system and not the disk. (I'm not saying some disks don't mess up, this is just from my own personal experience.) For me, it's easier, quicker, and better to take my system apart, clean and tighten everything, and put it back togeather. After that, all my games spin up without a problem.

P.S. If this is something you want to try keep in mind it will void any warranty you may have on your system.

go here to the forum to make sure it work first and make sure people wont have problem with the game...
