Update from my end.

Xbox Finally reached the repair center, they sent me a box on the 7th that arrived on the 13th. Shipped my xbox back on the 15th. It arrived today (Dec, 20th) So now just have to wait for the fix, or replacement to come back to me.

All of my holiday movies were on my xbox... sucks no holiday movies for X-Mas this year. Hopefully my daughter will be too busy with her new toys to notice she can't watch how the grinch stole christmas.

Will update when my xbox arrives to see if all problems are resolved.

For added fun, when you get your replacement box back, you need to re-download every individual piece of content one by one on there since the beginning of time or else stuff won't work if you aren't connected to xbox live. Yey for DRM.

Happy new year!

Hi, I'm having this problem with my disk. Is there a number in the UK I can call? There might be one somewhere, but I don't want to read through 130 pages of forum crap :L

Thanks

Call the 800 number, lose your xbox for about three weeks, hope the refurbished replacement works better.

I have same problem, but I worked fine for two months, after I buyed the game, then I couldn't load the first mission of the campagin. Then some more weeks later I started at the intro, but.. I couldn't skip it, then it stopped and window poped up about my Xbox can't read my game. (My Xbox 360 model are Arcade)

When I readed the older posts....
I think the problems which mentioned here are:
"Out-dated" Models of the Xboxs
Driver Fault
Bad coding on the files inside the disc.
Many more problems at the Xbox and the disc....

How my problem started:
Ohhh.... Man! I'm really pissed of that! My Reach didn't work well when I got my ODST (including the Halo 3 Multilayer disc too) in Christmas evening. And played it, after that I wanted to play some Reach so... it happend... =(
I decided about to get a new disc on Monday...

Bad customer relations on this issue.

"Thanks for your money, call someone who cares"

New for 2010, Bungie's Halo:Reach*

*not compatible with 1st generation xbox 360's, or certain combinations of dvd drives, manufacturing locations, serial numbers, power adapters, etc. We offer no guarantee this game will play, and if it does not, we will offer no solution. Get a new xbox 360 and try again. If that doesn't work, get another one.

ENJOY!

Why didnt bungie put this on their piece of BLAM

Oh and for some real lolz call m$. The main xboxs affected are the ones not under warranty and the only game it affects is halo so are you really going to spend $130 for reach when you can sit down and play a quality shooter like black ops

I was lucky that my 360's have been breaking about every 11 months or so and I got a refreshed warranty each time. Box #5 is able to play Reach without issue.

if you send your box in and pay the 100 bucks for refurb your a fool, and even more foolish when you get it back and it still dosent work so you send it in again. and pay another 100

I too have had this problem, but it does that at random times.I just take the disk out, wipe off the disk-tray, pop it back in, and it works! And if it still don't, I just restart my xbox with the disk in it, and it lets you play it. Hope I helped.

Don't bother calling them. They will just tell you to take it back to the store you bought it at. I just called them right now.

And, to everyone who thinks its the xbox and not the disk: You are wrong. It is the disk. I took my disk to my gf's house to play it there on her xbox, and it worked perfectly fine. Then, she got it for Christmas, and her xbox won't read her disk. Her xbox reads all other games, and read my Halo Reach disk, but not hers.
BTW, hers was made in Puerto Rico, and mine was made in Mexico. So, if you are looking to buy, get one from Mexico.

see your avoiding the problem, the problem is that M$ and bungie are letting these defective games/consoles out to the public and offering no solution other than to pay them more money.

Subject: Disc Not Reading

Recently I bought a Halo: Reach disk from Amazon and when it got here and I tried to play it... it didn't read.

In fact, the only thing that came up was an Xbox logo. And it was either open disk tray, or play DvD whenever I put it in.

So, I sent it back to Amazon and they sent me a new disk which obviously works.

Broken disk fail?

I have an Arcade version of the Xbox btw.

  • 12.29.2010 10:32 PM PDT

I had solved my problem by buying a new disc.
Because the console scraped my disc.

Is there a DRE solution that does not require me to pay microsoft/bungie more money? So far, I've been given the following "solutions":

-Download to hard drive (doesn't work)
-Recover gamertag (doesn't work)
-Clean disc (doesn't work obviously)
-Delete cache (doesn't work)
-Buy a new Xbox ($250)
-Get xbox repaired ($100+, and I heard this doesn't work)
-Buy a new game ($60)

It shouldn't be on me to fix this problem. I should be getting what I paid for. If I purchased a faulty product, either I should be reimbursed, of my product should be replaced at THEIR expense; not mine.

ok because non of u want to go to my forum ill put my forum here here just do what it says 1st off the game is in but its not recognizing the game for example it says (press a to play dvd or press a to open tray but the game is in) if this is your problem then your going to be fine.
1st of all your going to want install halo reach to your hard drive. this can be done by going to my xbox then from my xbox go to game library then it should show up with a whole bunch of games that youve played click on halo reach it will say install unless youve already installed it.

2nd you wanna clear your cache on your hard drive. this is done by going to my xbox then to system settings all the way to the right then go to memory highlight the hard drive and press y it should say rename format clear system cache and transfer content press clear cache.

3rd remove any external storage devices like memory cards or usb sticks.

4th now your ready to play the game.
- go to my xbox
- now go to game library and press a
- then sroll up or down until you find halo reach press a on it
- then press a on play game the screen will turn black for a few seconds then it should show the halo reach loading thing.

5th have fun this should work if it does not try cleaning the disk with a damp warm cloth.
also u may wanna try altering your xboxs position for example if your xbox is upright then try putting it on its side and vice versa.
if it still doesnt work try taking out the hard drive and cleaning out the dust because it may not be loading right.

if none of this works for you leave a comment and i will get back to you within the next day with more solutions. peace out hope this helps

so what's going on here? Got brand new xbox 360 4gb, brand new halo reach disc, getting the game error - disc unreadable issue at a certain mission point. Multiplayer co-op, playing local - not live. Exchanged the disc thinking it was a bad disc, playing fine for a while then BAM - disc unreadable but at a different spot than the first disc. ? Brand new console, brand new disc(s) - whats the deal?
