(If you just want the solution skip to second paragraph)Ok heres my problem and HOW I FIXED IT! I had the same problem as everyone else with loading errors. The game would load just fine but when I got to certain parts of campaign mode it would freeze. When i was playing multiplayer it would give me a load error. I spent hours messing with different things I took my disc out MY DISC WAS PERFECT! wtf is the problem? I thought it might be the disc drive because something similar happened 9 xboxs ago... but other games loaded fine. Here is what happened...

A long time ago there was a brief pop-up message from Bungie. It read *Faster loading times! The game has been configured to load much faster when installed on your hard drive.* Turns out that one of the install files from Reach got corrupted, more than likely when the Kinect update came out. (The game worked fine before the update.) So I tried un-installing Halo:Reach from my hard drive and BLAM! My game works fine now. worth a shot if you have already had it installed BEFORE you started having problems.

why isn't bungie taking this seriously?! what is taking so long for them respond and acknowledge their mistake and help us?! are they REALLY that pig-headed and arrogant?!!! they must be!!! u can't possibly miss this post?!! but they do cuz they don't WANT to do anything about it.

  • 01.07.2011 8:14 AM PDT

they dont care about this small fraction of a problem, they got our money, and their making more money off the DLC, so why should they go back and fix their mistakes when they already got paid for it.(points at advertisement banner on the side.)

i have FINALLY solved my problem. it was soooo obvious. *yeah right bungie!* i brought back my 5th copy and they yet again gave me a brand new one instead of just giving my money back. now i honestly agree why not. a very nice gentleman actually took some time and listened to my problems. he had the exact same thing BUT since he was computer whiz he said he downloaded the copy to his hard drive so that when ur playing the game the game is read from the hard drive and not the disc and the game should be able to be played henceforth. so i did what the guy said once i got home and HOLY CRAP! IT WORKS!!! i no longer have any problem playing. this is what i did and its a lot easier than the other posts i've read on how to do it. from "my xbox" (on the dash board) scroll to ur "game library" and find halo reach. push A. u should have the option of downloading it to ur hard drive but it will say "install" instead. go ahead and do it. once its done GAME ON! go have fun. i know its a pain but at least u get to play.

Subject: Disc Not Reading

mine is too. it works after a while but its annoying after an hour or so of opening and closing the disk tray. I've had it checked and its working perfect so i guess it is just the old consoles. I did hear something about an update microsoft made on live that caused something similar so you could check that out.

My Xbox will not read my Reach disc anymore... Other games work, and the Reach disc is not scratched. I tried the disc on my buddies xbox and it worked just fine.

IMG tags not permitted? FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIL.

Well. I have a 2008 console with the 60GB HD.

My Reach has always worked great in Multiplayer, but for some reason... AFTER I beat the campaign, all hell broke loose. I cannot play firefight, nor the campaign anymore. Within 10 minutes in firefight, it will almost ALWAYS freeze. Within 5 minutes to a couple of hours in campaign it will almost ALWAYS freeze. And these are not normal freezes. The game freezes, but not the console itself. When the game freezes, if I hit the middle button, you can hear the menu come up in the background, but you can't see it since the game is stuck. And if I hit the middle button again, you cannot hear the menu go off since the game is now stuck completely. I have to either turn off the system and turn it back on, OR, I have to open the disk tray, which returns me to the dashboard with my menu up how it was in the background when Reach froze.

That has never happened with any other game I own. It simply never has. If I have a freeze on my console on any other game, it happens rarely, but it does happen, it will completely freeze the system. My console does, however, suffer from a lock up malfunction here and there where the game doesn't freeze, the console just stops. It happens mostly if I idle on the dashboard.

One other game that has a main problem is Borderlands, but it's malfunction is strange. If I play co-op multiplayer, it WILL guaranteed freeze in 10 minutes of game play. But after I turn off the system and restart into another multiplayer session, it will NOT freeze again. It's like the box has to warm up first.

I've tried everything from installing the game (Reach) to playing without the HD and from a flash drive. I get my usual malfunctions either way. I need a new xbox for sure, just don't have the money. It's sad when a company doesn't know how to treat their customers... I have to wonder how the hell M$ is even still in business.

Halo Reach:Warrant Officer Grade 2
Halo 3 ODST: Recruit
Halo 3: Private Grade 1
Favorite fiction character in a video game: Ciel (Megaman Zero)

What? The only problem people have with their Xbox360 is the red ring of death.

their still in business because they sell you faulty hardware, then make you pay to get it fixed, then revise the hardware and make you buy a whole new system for one game.

i still see a lot of ppl with the exact or nearly the exact same problem(s) as myself. please try this? download ur copy 2 ur hard drive.
1) from "my xbox" on the dash board, scroll over 2 ur "game library".
2) find halo reach and push A. there should be a few options.
A: play
B: install
if it says "install" do it. this will download ur copy 2 ur hard drive. it will take a few minutes. mine took about 5-10 min. once its done, have fun. ur now able 2 play whatever u like.

Same thing happened to me with my new 360 slim. It would play Reach for about 10 to 20 minutes, and then it would freeze and a message would pop up saying "Disc is Unreadable" and then it would kick me to the dashboard. None of my disc are scratched, I took it back to Gamestop because I had in-store warranty on it, and they replaced it with a new one, and it did the exact same thing a few days later, but now it does it with all my games. I have now been threw 5 consoles over the past few months, I have pretty much given up on playing any of my games on my 360 slim. Im assuming many others are having the same issue as I am.
