Well. I have a 2008 console with the 60GB HD.
My Reach has always worked great in Multiplayer, but for some reason... AFTER I beat the campaign, all hell broke loose. I cannot play firefight, nor the campaign anymore. Within 10 minutes in firefight, it will almost ALWAYS freeze. Within 5 minutes to a couple of hours in campaign it will almost ALWAYS freeze. And these are not normal freezes. The game freezes, but not the console itself. When the game freezes, if I hit the middle button, you can hear the menu come up in the background, but you can't see it since the game is stuck. And if I hit the middle button again, you cannot hear the menu go off since the game is now stuck completely. I have to either turn off the system and turn it back on, OR, I have to open the disk tray, which returns me to the dashboard with my menu up how it was in the background when Reach froze.
That has never happened with any other game I own. It simply never has. If I have a freeze on my console on any other game, it happens rarely, but it does happen, it will completely freeze the system. My console does, however, suffer from a lock up malfunction here and there where the game doesn't freeze, the console just stops. It happens mostly if I idle on the dashboard.
One other game that has a main problem is Borderlands, but it's malfunction is strange. If I play co-op multiplayer, it WILL guaranteed freeze in 10 minutes of game play. But after I turn off the system and restart into another multiplayer session, it will NOT freeze again. It's like the box has to warm up first.
I've tried everything from installing the game (Reach) to playing without the HD and from a flash drive. I get my usual malfunctions either way. I need a new xbox for sure, just don't have the money. It's sad when a company doesn't know how to treat their customers... I have to wonder how the hell M$ is even still in business.
