I have had the same for some cuscenes the first one looped, but i managed to skip it the second time

and also anyone notice the level restarts after death "SOMETIMES" not all the time but just some it happen twice to me.

That's happened to me as well.

Seeing the checkpoint problem along with the "Disk Unreadable" combined with the game on the HDD leads me to the conclusion that the Hard Drive is the problem.

If I play with the disc (no install) then I only get the disk unreadable error and even then its quite rare compared to the install but quite often in general.

Anyone tried installing to a USB stick? Probably the same thing just wondering, I did no difference.

What if MS paid some programmer at bungie to write some code that would make Reach discs faulty on certain models of Xboxs(es?,i?, yeah, xboxi)in order to force people do buy new models?

I find this to be the most likely of scenarios.

2006-4-14 is when my xbox says it was manufactured and it can't read Reach either :\

question everything...truth has no pedigree

I have had this exact problem with both ODST disks for quite some time now. The Pit will not play on my 360, ever. Same with Firefight. The Reach Beta also wouldn't play, though it did start to work after the first couple days.

Anyway, I'm glad I know a lot of people are having the same problem with Reach. Looks like I won't be getting it any time soon; at least not until the issues with my 360 are resolved. I'd rather not have the game than be frustrated by this crap. The -blam!- with the Beta pissed me off.

0=(1+1=2)

I've had this happen once so far...just ejected and reloaded, and now it's fine.

If it's a chronic problem then Bungie should make amends.

The game is great, though, so don't hold an idiotic mechanical failure stop you from playing it.

I don't know, someone posted earlier that MS would fix his console even though the warranty period is over and some people with old consoles have posted that their copy is working fine.

I really want to know what going on, wish bungie or MS would say something.

I'd take anything at this point.

As of yet, no. But it is past midnight now on the west coast so there would most likely be nobody the studio to do anything about it at the moment.

even if you open it and it does not work, you can return it for a new copy. If that copy does not work you can get a full refund. Its part of the 90 day warranty in the back of manual. Same as all 360 games.

well bestbuy had this promotion if you preordered you get a $20 gift card. i'd hate to be charged after i return it for unknowingly buying a faulty game

Beauty without intelligence, is like a masterpiece painted on a napkin.

If my copy that Microsoft has sent me for their arranged tournament that is taking place on september 23th doesn't work, they are going to get one crazy dude on their phone.

idk about you guys, but 1: id feel like an ass if i tried to return a boiled disc. 2: if they can tell you boiled it, they wont take it back

What do you expect to happen, you drop it in for 10 seconds and all you come out with is a ball of melted plastic? Visually absolutely nothing changed about the disc. If you don't believe me drop some crap-ass dvd into the water first, see if it does anything. My (extremely uneducated) guess is that there's a layer of something on there that's not supposed to be, and boiling it gets rid of it. I couldn't even load the game before I did it, and I just finished the first chapter of the campaign. Try it, if nothing happens you're where you were before.
