Well, I've been having the unreadable disc problem, and I was thinking, if it has to do with a bad batch of discs, then maybe its only in one area? I bought my game from a GameStop in the Ft. Lauderdale area of South Florida. anyone else?
I'm NE Florida in Orange Park, just south of Jax

Wait 4 Halo 4.

so whats wrong with the discs?? if the game doesn't work...go to your store and change it...i'd do that..

  • 09.15.2010 9:31 PM PDT

yeah but if fixing my console for free results in me being able to play the game then it's not a loss is there... there is not 1 halo game i have missed and this is one story which sounds totally awesome and i wanna know about it and experience it, why should myself and many others miss out just because microsoft are too stupid to make a console that can play EVERY game.. i love how it's not even a big deal to you... are you able to play the game halofans1177????

Read the posts, call the number, it's not the discs (k-mart in denver fyi)

I called this morning, anyone else getting charged $100 plus for a repair because the warranty is expired? It seems like they sent me a replacement for my original console when it got E-74 less than a year ago?!?!

Also, anyone try a NEW hdd? Not just play with it removed which i'd think would be pointless anyway...

  • 09.15.2010 9:32 PM PDT

well, one person had the problem in Australia, so I guess it's not a 'one area only' issue. but if more people from florida say that they have the same problem, then that would be suspicious.

It's either the disc and/or the console. Changing discs works for some but not others.

dude if they try and tell you that you need to pay to get the repair, ask to speak to their supervisor and tell them that every other game works fine it's just halo reach and that there are many others with the same problem... i swear microsoft just have no idea, and it's so frustrating

They're not charging me. My warranty expired last October.

Wellll mostly :O just can't do the last mission but anything can happen still so right now I really have no clue. People that run now might be for now but the system might be overloading or overheating and they might get the RROD now from it but its to early to say anything really. Also as big of a Halo fan as I am ever sense ODST It basicly died....I just like the first 3 The real reason I got this was for the story and also to see this new Ranking system they have.

  • 09.15.2010 9:38 PM PDT

mine expired march of 2009 and it's a free repair, so they really have no right to ask you to pay for something that is clearly their fault and does not do what it is intended for what should mean a free repair

  • 09.15.2010 9:39 PM PDT

yeah i was let down by odst... but see you can play most of the game, we can't even do that, i haven't seen anything past the very first cutscene. No way i'm taking it back but if it happens again when it comes back i'm seriously going to do 2 things, ring back microsoft and demand i speak with someone who can do something and actually gives a damn and then if that gets me nowhere, look into taking them to court over it or at least get the ACCC to handle my case, it's totally gutless that microsoft have not issued a statement to it's loyal customers being affected.. they know about the issue WHOO HOOOOOOOO but we're still in the dark.

  • 09.15.2010 9:43 PM PDT

They did say i'd get a card for 3 free months of live, lucky me...

I might not have to send it in at all, and i'll make sure they refund my money regardless. It's just wait and see right now... Guess i'll go read a damn book

  • 09.15.2010 9:45 PM PDT

all i was told was i get a 1 month free gold... woopeeeee

DUDE I GOT MINE IN FORT LAUDERDALE TOO! SAME PROBLEM!

  • 09.15.2010 9:50 PM PDT

So 3 people in Florida..... maybe a bad batch of many was sent our way?

  • 09.15.2010 9:58 PM PDT

2 Fail Copy's in Toronto for me :]<3

  • 09.15.2010 10:01 PM PDT

I called and was on the phone for 45 minutes troubleshooting that I will either get DRE at some point in the story or at the end of an online game. I also told him how this was my 3rd disc and for this one I even went to another gamestop when my friend was working and he opened it for me and played through the first level real quick. Everything works I get home and it doesn't. So his final solution is to go get yet another copy tomorrow and once that fails call back with my number and I will have to get my console repaired. I even asked him why should I pay $119 to fix my console to play a $60 game, and he said the experience would be worth it. Yea right I'd rather just sell the Reach and never by a microsoft exclusive game again because that's where all of my problems have been.

Anyone who is getting them to pay for your repair fees, have you had a ton of consoles replaced or something because this would be my 5th microsoft replacement and the customer service honestly gets worse every time.

Sorry for the wall of text but at this point I am just so fed up with this problem.

4, tampa here, same issue

  • 09.15.2010 10:04 PM PDT

for him to say that the experience will be worth it is just a terrible thing to say.. so it's a good experience to have payed 60 for a game and then another 120 to repair a working console? what a dumb -blam!-.... Tell them that you wish to speak to a supervisor straight away and then also tell that supervisor what the dick head that said and that you're not paying for a repair when it's microsoft's fault for not testing the game properly

  • 09.15.2010 10:07 PM PDT

oh and as far as repairs... this is my 3rd time sending it away for repairs... the first 2 were for the RRoD and this time is stupid reach....

  • 09.15.2010 10:08 PM PDT

wowwwww I was just on the phone with xbox support and I was messing with my xbox and accidentally hung up on them. Now theyre closed...FML!!!

  • 09.15.2010 10:11 PM PDT

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!.... darth vader style... that really blows man

  • 09.15.2010 10:22 PM PDT

I REALLY don't want to have to send in my console because I don't want to be without my Xbox for 2-3 weeks.

So do i need to call MS again after i was told there is nothing they can do?

Yes. They may not be able to supply you with an immediate resolution, and each case may require a different support approach, but no matter the case or ultimate resolution, you should be calling 1-800-4-MY-XBOX, registering a support claim, and recording your case ID.

I know it sucks to buy a game and not be able to play it. Please bear with us.

So what about australian user's, has it happend to anyone in australia but me?, lol i have no clue if im the only aussie, or if it's happend to anyone else, but thats an american number and i cant call that, suggestions?
