Where are the updates from Microsoft/Bungie?

If they seriously expect me to send in a perfectly functioning xbox because they screwed up, then they are just -blam!-s. If there is a patch and you don't want to release it because it would look bad during launch week, then they are super -blam!-s.

If so few people have this problem that they can act like it's not happening, how about they send out memory sticks with this mysterious patch on it to each of us instead of asking us to send in our perfectly fine machines for 3 weeks???

brock danger, i think your idea is the best. i mean what is wrong with sending us all the patch? if we send it in, we are all gonna be so screwed with being 3 weeks behind everybody else in multiplayer, i might as well take the game back

i just dont even know what to do... first its the console, then its the disc, now apparently its just firmware that theyre too lazy to release for us. i was really hoping that i could help bungie go out with a bang, but now im just flat out disappointed. having the game and not being able to play it is seriously the worst feeling. microsoft needs to take charge and just admit that they screwed up instead of just trying to play it cool and like its only happening to a few people, when obviously its a lot of people. im just flat out bummed. i think im just gonna go return the game... for the fourth time, but this time im just gonna ask for my money back

So their only solution is send your xbox in for repairs? How is this acceptable? They must have known this was coming because they haven't said a word about it. I don't have a chance at getting my xbox repaired so I'm screwed. I've been a fan since halo ce and this is how I'm treated. Awesome.

Hang onto your support ticket. As soon as I get an update on the situation, I'll report back here.

Should call just to get a support ticket. If they won't fix it for free at least you'll have a number if a better solution turns up.

Took seven phone calls and a few hours for me to get a free repair. My game would freeze in random spots so after they did a little trouble shooting they decided it was fixed. First i was told to go buy a new hard drive. Then i was told to return the disk. Lastly i was told to give them $119 twice. Finally i got a free repair. I have 20 days to ship it hope a patch comes out before then.

For people undecided,
Its pretty much your choice.

Its either:

Send your xbox in to get this firmware upgrade (maybe get it replaced with a new console all together for free [if you talk to them how others have], even if your warranty expired a long time ago) so you can play Halo: Reach and some future games which may have this problem, at the expense of not having your xbox for a few weeks and not having that same start as everyone else, and the fact you waited so long and the only thing you do is wait some more to play.

Or not get the firmware update, return the game and missing out completely, and any future games with similar problems as this, while you waisted your time on getting the game that you aren't bothered to fix, the update/ replace may cost money in the future (I don't know just saying) and the fact that you may regret this decision later (not saying you will or won't but just saying).

I would go for the first one, and if I end up getting to higher ranks faster than someone without this problem then it'll be like in your face, but I don't play online because I don't have the wireless kit so it doesn't affect me as much.

That helps, because I can download an armor effect on a game I can't even pl--wait a minute.. that's not helpful at all.

Besides, it would cheapen the already-released flaming heads for those who paid the extra money to get them.

Ok so since they're taking repairs with people who are out of warranty, what if I voied my warranty when I still had it? Will they still take it? Maybe I'll just call them and find out.

I spent the $150 for the legendary edition and felt like a dope when the disc wouldn't read. It took several ejects and restarts to get through the installation process. Since then it takes 2-3 tries each time to get the game to start.

To say I feel ripped off and disappointed would be an understatement.

Hopefully they come up with a disc exchange policy that won't mean I'm unable to play for two weeks while the mail bounces around :(

Do not feel bad. I just got a second copy of Halo Reach and it still does not work from Amazon.com. i will be sending both copies back to Amazon.com tomorrow.

I have had the same issue on a 2nd referb box without the HDMI port. Thankfully I was able to install it fine and finish the game. It seems to be working okay for me now. Regardless, I'm glad to know my disc isn't bad and I'm not the only one with the problem.

Me to guys can't get past the first cut scene of campaign! Midnight release 2 hr drive home to this, I,m waiting PRAYING there gona patch this -blam!- or something COME ON BUNGIE/MS get this fixed for the love of god I waited a year for this with baited breath and payed 220 aus $ back then preordering Legendary!

I have a pro, got legendary. Game froze, maps won't load. Returned disc got second legendary disc.Installed to HDD goes to green screen. Returned legendary disc for standard disc same problem. Disc looks cloudy or splotchy underneath and is made in Mexico. Third Disc same problem. Tec support no help. No answer from several emails. I can play online but it freezes and kicks me out Now I am receiving the X Box message that they may restrict my play because I leave too many games!

Mine doesn't work either, I have a pro xbox. Anyways I tried to see if my copy of Reach would work on my friends xbox, it didn't. So I'm hoping its just the disc thats causing the problem. I'm gonna go get a new copy of Reach tomorrow and pray it works. God so many problems for one game is just unexpectable! I just wanna play Reach lol..

my Reach disc USED to work , But my bro wanted to try something (Cause his Xbox is ~Blam~ing up too with the issue) and unstall my game , And now I can't reinstall (can't read disc at 43%)and fails to go on MM FF and Muitiplayer.

This day is just getting worse and worser :(

Oh , and I have 120 GB elite Xbox

my bro has the kinect Xbox version.
