So while over 1000s (going from this forum and many others) of people around the world cant even play Reach, "urk" is posting a blog about how he does not want to be at work writting a blog when he could be at home playing Reach....what about your customers that cant play the game at all?! I paid $100 (NZD) for a disc that wont work. Im a store manager of a large multi million dollor company and every day I get customers with faulty products, as a business we need to find a solution for the problem very very quickly to keep that customer happy and coming back to us, does the same not apply here?
The blame may not be on Bungie and it may not be Microsoft (could be both) but whatever the issue is instead of sitting at home could we not get it fixed?

Edit: And yes I can read, and I did contact Microsoft, and No I don't want to send my console away for up 4 weeks (NZ service time) for a fix when there is nothing wrong with my console and plays every other game perfectly fine.

wow, what a -blam!- joke....

bungie and microsoft should be ashamed of themselves, and give their disappointed, PAYING fans a better explanation then "call xbox support!"

i really never want to give microsoft any of my money, EVER again

how could bungie not know about this before it was shipped?

mine worked fine until a hour ago when it just froze and whenever i try and play it just freezes. Gonna try taking it back but that seems like its been failing miserably. hopefully i don't have to buy a new bloody xbox for $300

i for one will not give into M$ and bungie and buy a new xbox when mine can play any other one but this one just fine.
in fact tomorrow I am taking my reach game, my 3 month live membership, AND the 50 ft Ethernet cord i bought to play this game back.

so if you're going to give me, a paying customer the middle finger by not fixing this serious issue (or even seriously acknowledging that you are working hard to do so) that apparently thousands of customers are having, i'm giving you one right back and taking back my money.

i'm sure the game is great but i refuse to pour any more of my money or time into it.

Subject: Disc Not Reading

oi the exact same thing happend to me, it said disc unreadable for matchmaking, and then i got a new disc and its still doing it

  • 09.19.2010 2:42 AM PDT

It happened to me, so I just took it back to Gamestop. Got a brand new copy.

  • 09.19.2010 3:02 AM PDT

I like how they say thousands. That's actually a lot. But because so many people bought the game, those thousands only make up a small percentage so they think it's ok and it's not worth their time. Good on you bungie. I guarantee this will hurt their future game sales.

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

I've had the game come up as a DVD the first time I placed it in the disc tray. After that I haven't had that happen again (I've since installed the game). I've had it just black screen a couple of times on initial boot up though. With no dashboard coming up when I press the guide button on my controller either.

Definitely not my console. It was manufactured July 2010 and plays other games without a hitch. It's clearly an issue with Halo Reach seems multiple amounts of people are having a problem.

In times of darkness it is the blind that best leads us....in an age of insanity let the madmen be our guides.

well at least thank heavens its not just me, this is the 2nd system i've had repaired, i even returned the disc and got a new one, same issue, i even installed it on the Hardrive and still no luck, just green screen. Microsoft says go online to FAQ Halo questions.....not much help

Had exactly the same problem, just repeadedly blow into the disk tray and clean the disk with a soft cloth. Then just sit on the sdaskboard with ur controller in hand and watch TV for a while, during that time keep opening and closing the tray with ur controller. A few times you will hear the xbox roar but not register the game, just keep going and after a while you will hear the xbox roar into life. More Reach for everyone :). Hope this helped.

Well some interesting news, I did the system cache flush and it seems to be working for now.

I haven't tried this yet because I didn't know what was deleted when you clear the cache.

Does it wipe out game updates only or does it do more than that?

EDIT: Nevermind this post. I found what I needed and I've cleared my cache.

You are right, I was in a different part of the campaign. It was some heavy firefighting tho. I am going to have to dedicate a good portion of my day to um, testing, yes thats it, testing!

I agree completely! As much as I would like to be able to play the new Bungie product without frustrating issues there are plenty of other games out there that I love to play. To give up my CrackBox for 2-3 weeks just to play ONE GAME!?! No F-b-U-l-C-a-K-mING way!

  • 09.19.2010 8:40 AM PDT

Just called up MS tech support.....of course, they wanted to first transfer me over to Xbox Live support (even though my game freezes up/goes black offline too) and then wanted to process a repair for $119. Screw that, not getting my console fixed for one part of one game when it run absolutely fine during multiplayer and only freaks out during campaign or firefight (and that was after like 5 or 6 hours straight of MP yesterday...no issues at all, but 5 minutes of campaign and it freezes!)

Microsoft did a great job of making what is possibly the most unreliable console ever.

I think everyone who calls Microsoft should mention that we want a PATCH, and more people than they think are having this problem

  • 09.19.2010 8:44 AM PDT

Reach rocks. Period.

I just talked to 1-800-4-MY XBOX. I orginally decided to wait and see if there was a software patch in the works. Tonight, I decided to call them. Things are not good.

1. There is no software patch in the works.
2. I was quoted by support, "When Halo:Reach released, MS was aware of the disc reading errors. Microsoft has approved free hardware repairs for claims made within one week of launch. HOWEVER, they rescinded the free repair offer as of 09-17-10."

What this means is, in order to play, you have to pay the $119.99 repair fee. They would not offer me any other resolution. ..I was on the phone with them for nearly 3 hours. Good luck to all on getting their machines running. MS has screwed us again.

Hmmm that is odd since I got approval for a free repair yesterday (the 19th) no problem. That is -blam!- that MS knew about the issues but remember they also knew about the overheating RROD deal as well.....

  • 09.19.2010 8:46 AM PDT

Those having problems should also post on xbox.com forum.

The more voices on MS site the better!

Okay, so I tried the game on my friends xbox, and it didnt work either.

So it could be the disk for me.

If there is any possibly for a patch, it won't be coming soon. It would make Microsoft look bad. And that's more important than their paying costumers, right?

anyone who would ever "blow" into the disc drive is an idiot, this is a dvd drive not an N64 you will mess up your xbox even more

and anyone else watching all the reach commercials on tv and feel like your getting kicked in the nards?

Its pretty crappy. Mine freezes every 3 or 4 games in matchmaking, usually when im on a spree of some kind. I can still talk to people but nothing happens ,usually a blank screen no error message, so i have to do a hard reset. It hasn't done it in campaign or fire fight yet, but theirs still time.

  • 09.19.2010 9:09 AM PDT

Seriously...I dont care that you can noscope super pro. Im here to play a decent game and not get spawn camped,n00b'd to the max or lagged out. Please just play the game in an decent fashion and STFU

I live in England with this trouble. I've replaced the disc and it still says the same. I have a premium xbox 360 with 20GB.

Something tells me 1-800-4-MY-XBOX will cost me a bomb to call.

I dont pay the bills so I wouldn't know.
